The website gives all battles a password (8724 or similar), so why the servers usually are not passworded ?
Less spectators = less lags
Add a poll.
-
spectators don't cause lag god dammit
strat battles are laggier because there are a shitload of people in them! imagine that!
-
But they increase the data transmission between server and players and this can cause lags imao.

you're dumb, some people free-camming doesn't compare to guys running around fighting/shooting arrows

Bear, I beg to differ. Ping is a cause of bad (lowcapacity) bandwidth. EU_CRPG_3 and NA_CRPG_3, have big bandwidth, but not enough to have more than 120 people (though it says that server has 200 slots). And that means the more people = the bigger ping.
Special for you my friend (http://tinyurl.com/brcnhq). Dont be scared there are no screamers, or any other stupid stuff, just push the link.
-
Maybe decrease the slots, but I would kill all spectators :P
-
Why dont we just put up a battle to verify that specs actually increase lag? Make a test-battle with a shitload of ppl in (fighters and spectators) and check the pings with and without specs.

Ha ha, it's funny because it's entirely logical and sensible. Therefore, nobody is going to put the effort into doing it

The earth is a disc - why should anyone doubt that?

fps lag = spec lag, hahaha

Spectators don't cause lag. What causes lag is the server having to receive data from 100s of PLAYING characters, convert that into movement/actions, and then calculate the physics, damage, position, etc. of everything in the game.
Spectators don't send info to server, they receive from it. The only possible way spectators affect lag is from the server having to send the info to the spectators, but this is unnoticeable. For instance, if you type something into chat, that sends extra info to hundreds of players. Does the game grind to a halt every time someone says "hey"? No, it doesn't. In fact, tons of people can talk all at once without any affect on performance. So how could sending info to spectators hurt? IT DOESN'T.
-
I wouldn't let any specators unless someone authorize by both party to record the battle or to stream the fight.
Outside of that, we dont need ghosters telling where the enemy is going.. That just kills strategies and surprises.

Everyone who doesnt respawn instantly could do that too.
-
If you're stuck in Equipment screen , you can't really move around and ghost.
And if you do, well you'd play with 1 player sacrificed at least, not just some friend who couldn'T make it on time and got replace, now to be useful ghost for you...

I can tell you are an expert on netcode technology.

I'm fine with a password on each battle, but only if there is a system where people can apply themself as a streamer.
If there is a streamer, password battle. If there isn't, don't.
