Title: Red Orchestra 2 : Heroes of Stalingrad
Post by: Mtemtko on August 05, 2011, 02:57:24 am
The game is going to get released on the 30th August, anyone else going to get it? I simply loved the first one and I preordered the second one on steam for 34€.

Deluxe pre-ordered as well.

Darkest Hour is still great fun to play, too.

Really not seeing any kind of incentive in the Digital Deluxe package. The weapons I'll unlock through play, and the rest doesn't matter to me at all.

So... preordered for 28€, whoop whoop!

Well ill have acess to the beta and will report here for those deciding if its worth buying or not.
Also what I cant wait for the most is the tanks, they spent 4 months developing pz4 and t34/76,pz3 half-tracks etc

This experience will be drastic, unfair and hardcore....just like the previous ones :-)

I know that, but just as with Diablo II my Eyes can´t bear the graphics for long enough to actually improve :D

But the Actual gameplay was fun.

Well, MnB still looks ten times better then RO.Not to forget it got so addicting through cRPG that I cant stop playing.

Thats just......mmyeah........AWESOME!

Red Orchestra one was just intense. And I've never even played it in a clan, I imagine that must be awesome. I love realistic WW2 shooters, sadly Brothers in Arms has gone to hell now, so this game is all that there's left.

The beta so far is quite glorious. There is a limited amount of maps though and the leveling system is locked. There are also some bugs here and there but nothing major except that your game like to crash while loading servers.

But other than that so is the game great fun.

I´ve yet to play such tank battles on nice open maps(Just played territority on this damn factory maps).

I really like the realism and immersive feeling, but there are also some things I can´t stand. For example getting killed 50 times in a row out of nowhere because you just cant see the enemy for shit.

Or just play or rush with a squad leader for smoke granades

btw i see too much camping playing with random guys , 50% stays at the spawn in search of the kill ....too bad.
squad leader often forgets to have smoke grenades and commander forgets about artillery.
i just wait for the release playing as a squad with some clanmates , it'd be so much fun.

Okay, hadto buy the deluxe version and tried the beta yesterday.

It looks really really nice when your comp can handle it :-)
Sometimes really overwhelming, atmospheric sound.

Hardcore gaming experience....love it.

So who has this game?
Need ppl to play with!

P.S.

Funny enough,  in beta, you can only switch gfx.
No sound or control options... :-X
If this gets implemented in full vers. it will be even better!

I've been playing it. Have a Rank 3 Rifleman with a the rifle at lvl25. Despite all this and the extensive beta play, I find it really underwhelming and the tons of bugs makes it a lot more frustrating than it already is.

I also played RO back when there were no vehicles as a mod for UT2k4. It was meh back then, meh in OST, and still meh.

So it's out. It's buggy as hell, the stat system in particular is living a life of its own completely independent of my actual gameplay, and two of the three most popular maps by far are incredibly unbalanced. I love it anyway.

Should we start a Steam group or something? Also, if any of you are looking for a TS channel for RO2, there's one on the Nordmen server: 85.236.100.27:11067 (password: fu) :)

They got smexier weapons as well so.

On a side note they need to patch the goddamn Stats so i can unlock 75 rounds mag for MG34.

Apartments is crap though. Dunno why people praise it. Too small for moi. Fallen Fighters and Commisar's House are great maps imo.

Comissar's is quite fun, but incredibly biased in favor of defenders, almost as bad as Apartments in that regard. Never yet seen an Allied win on either of those maps, they're the only ones I always play Axis on.

Personally I like it, but it can be really buggy and some of the maps are terribly biased, but that might be because of the teams im on more than anything else.

I also miss taking my bayonet off the end of my gun like in number 1 and I think the very old mod version was like that too.

However overall, it's fun, you die a lot of course, but dammit this is WAR!!! Still nothing like sneaking through an enemy building and suddenly coming across three germans/russians hiding in a room, shoot the first, bayonet the second and then pistol the last.

Screw that, stealthily back around a corner before they can see you then chuck a cooked nade in there. One of the best additions imo was the random chatter. Nothing like hearing a desperate voice start to cry out "Grenade!" in Russian or German then being cut off by the explosion.

I was fully compensated for the digital deluxe version of the game. They might have only did it because I requested it within the first couple days of release.
