I watched an archer shoot for all he was worth - with all the fear in his heart - when Goretooth was advancing up a hill at him.

Yeah there's really no point in trying to shoot Gore and his 3x heirloomed armor, gloves, boots, helm, bec. lol. Hell, my javelins, throwing spears, throwing axes, war darts all bounce off him too. Most hits my melee weapon does as well. :D
Still, he can only keep it up in short spurts, and then he plays in no or light armor/robes and dies in 1 hit so there is where we get vengance.

Yeah it was pretty excellent. You archers thank your lucky stars that he can't maintain the upkeep on all that armor.

Send that Goretbelly guy, or whatever his name is, to EU for some proper piercing. :)

If you dropped him it'd only be because of crazy EU ping. WARP FACTOR 5 MR SULU!

ping under 160 is fine. 160-to 190 is still ok but you might notice some disrepancies. Everything above 200 is no good.

I'm going to respectfully disagree whole-heartedly with you there.
30-50 is good, anything under 100 is playable, anything over 100 starts getting missing animation frames and phantom hits/misses.

Lucky me I have over 200 ping on all servers. =)
Anyway... plate = archer immunity at 93%

Which as I've told you in the server is probably 80% of why you can't melee at all. ;)

I heart my Deadly Awlpike for piercing Goretoothses. Well, actually I just heart my Deadly Awlpike period, but the fact that it does well against black plate certainly helps.

I remember goretooth was on my team with the black armor and stuff, He was fighting with some guy, I knocked him down by accident, while he was on the ground the enemy stabbed him and killed him.

Killing Goretooth and his ilk is what I have Sphinx for.

I killed goretooth twice in the siege server with my great long axe and later with elegant poleaxe... it helped that others distracted him on the second fight and the first fight i threw a lucky francisca to his head first. I guess spamming does work or just mob him with a group of friends like taking down an elephant lol.

It isn't hard to get a couple o good luck hits on the old goretooth when you have some fodder keeping his attention I suggest a couple of shielders and a fast Pike. I say Pike because goretooth can lure you in close with inattention like a shark then maul you the extra reach will let you back pedal to safety at this time hope your shielders get in their tiny hits..... This strat works generally with only 5 casualties for my alt Kerin. I just poke at him. AND on some rare occasions when I am the last left I stab or chamber cut him for the finisher. VERY RARE and VERY LUCKY! Most times he just smats me like a fly for daring to gaze on him and near him with my savage butter knife.
With my main Linden. I just try to lurk behind a flimsy ally that I know will die from his next attack then down swing my mighty barmace for maximum kill power then downswing again if he is still alive rinse repeat downswing until he dies. Hard to find willing fodder though, also most fodder is faster at running than goretooth so I generally left trying to solo him which doesn't normally end in my favor.

This is why I am a pick user! As a wee peasant I was killed so much by tincans that I dedicated Engine to killing tincans.
Sometimes I can kill one, too! :)

You can do significant damage with a katana (and even kill the beast!) if you are running full tilt with high athletics. If you lose the speed bonus it seems half your hits glance and the other half don't seem to bother him all that much.
