Sure, it can make statics look great, but animating is impossible in this engine.

Besides, it's not like polygons are obsolete;

This is not a new shader technology. Its the new 3D modelling technology. The pics you are showing to us are taken from a ''modified'' game. And its not imposibble to animate models made of dots. You just group the dots and move them.

Actually it's not new, this tech has been around for quite some time. This particular company have been trying to get funding for this project for at least 8 years.

What is your point? It's polygon models with higher res textures than the standard game had.

Did you notice that everything in that video is perfectly still, and that they only achieved 20 FPS with absolutely no animation?

Theoretically it is possible to animate, but current hardware is simply not capable of it (and probably not for quite some time).

Nothing on youtube is new. Those things were being worked on for a long time. So dont act like ''i knew this thing 8 years before''. If you dont like advancement on technology you can keep playing your Gameboy.

And whats yours? If you zoom into anything on the screen you can easly count the polygons.

Its not like we are going to play a game that will use this technology tomorrow.And i didnt even say that we can do it right now.

I didn't say anything about youtube (wtf?). I said that this technology has been around for some time - and there's good reason why it hasn't taken off like polygonal rendering has.

I don't recall saying I am against technological advancement, but this tech is less efficient than the tech it wants to replace.

I think I made my point quite clear - Polygons are capable of incredible levels of detail, and are not made obsolete by this 'new' tech.

By saying youtube i meant this technology didnt released like 2 days ago. They are working on this engine for a long time and it has much more detail than polygon technique. And the reason why we dont use it right now is because they are still working on it. Of course you didnt say you are againts technological advancement but you act like it.

And about why this tech is not so hyped or not known by many ppl: Every year firms release new GFX cards. And they have slightly more performence than the 1-year-ago tech. We pay hundreds of dolars to buy a new GFX cards. Same is for softwares. Buying new Windows versions which they claim much more better than the old. Almost every year a new version of DirectX comes out. Its just a sale strategy. But this technology ,if made right, can stop these things. This technolgy uses dots to create models. Just like in real life exept for dots are atoms. You wont be needing to buy a new GFX card every year. Because this will be the highest standard for graphics.
