Hello all,
So I have done a lot of searching about Roman/Greek armours etc. I understand the arguments for and against that have been given but it seems as if there is a common theme, that being people suggesting if someone made a good set of Roman skins then the developers usually do not have to much problem including it if it ties in.
So what about:
http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php?topic=143862.75 Lew's Roman OSP models.
Or
Mount and Gladius, the models are open source according to the developer.
http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,123765.msg2988663.html#msg2988663
My question: How difficult it is to use these on cRPG? If the devs don't want to add, how can we personally use these skins? Because damn some of them look amazing.
P.S. Please don't make this another for and against thread, this is simply to ask how hard it would be to convert these Roman skins to cRPG.
-
The 2 main problems are that many people don't want them, since cRPG is supposedly set in some time period or something and the fact that those armors have light arms and legs (what about chars with dark skinned faces?)
-
I can see why some don't want it because of time period, but lets not kick up another for and against argument. Many support, many do not. This is rather to see hypothetically why these models couldn't be utilised, because as I said if the overwhelming feeling was that people didn't want this included I know there are absolutely tonnes of us who would make an effort to try and install them for ourselves. (Legio / HRE / Legion just to mention a few clans).
So does anyone who makes mods / models / know enough about this game know why or why not these models could not be adapted for cRPG?
-
I said that already, those models include bare skin in them, which would look bad if the character using them had skin of any other colour.
-
Do the models include skin or rather do they just not cover it?
-
They include it. Engine limitations and what not.
-
Well then if that is true, adding a light leather sleeve for instance wouldn't be the worse thing in the world. And because it would be clearly offset against the typical armour/mail of the Roman's it would still be fairly clear.

Apparently someone has already made Greek/Roman armour for cRPG. Just about to see if it works

Backup your textures etc if your going to use that pack. Some of the roman and greek items look really good in game but I just seen a guy with invis armour so I need to find out which texture is causing problems.
-
the roman shield of mount and gladius is really f*cked up, it sticks right true the arm.
-
Are you trying to add RACIST items?!
-
that is the underlying goal. but shhh, we're a secret racist order!

This is what the stuff looks like.
I think I have identified the texture bug, it seems the nord nobleman outfit becomes invisible when I applied the texture pack. Still............. it looks/makes you feel like a bad ass playing in these armours.
P.S These are not my armours or skins, I simply found a link to someone who had converted them over.
P.P.S: Where is says Bascinet it actually means Onion Top Bascinet.

I would most certainly like to be able to wear this gear with my Hoplite build. -Insert smiley-
-
only higher ranking guys got the horse hair mohawks, why arent there any non-mohawk helms?
-
The guy with the spear who is wearing a version of the white hopalite armour does not have a mohawk. If someone would be so legendary as to find out why the shirt and nord nobleman outfit are invisible after installing the skins I would be eternally grateful. Apart from that wee bug this just made the game more fun for me.
Also, I never made these remember so I had no control over models.
-
Maybe if they were textured with chainmail sleeves like the armor Gorath was working on before his computer exploded.

 Nice model

Yes! Something like that looks awesome, yet it removes the criticisms about skin colour etc.
I remember when I use to play counter strike religiously changing the gun / people models kept things a bit fresh and added something extra to your game without having to roll it out across everyone who plays. I'm totally loving running around like a Roman/Greek.
