I think we need a topic like this one, I know we have fine artists and musicians around here, it would be nice to see what they are working on.
No, not me, I'm an idiot when it comes to art, and struggling with the easiest instrument, the guitar.  :lol:

It's quite meh that the OP can't post anything, but I have some riffs, and licks on my mind, maybe I'll fix my stupid microphone and record them, so you can say "Don't pick up an instrument ever again."  :mrgreen:

I made a helmet out of steel sheet, rivets and a hammer once. it was even tailored to fit my head, wouldn't fit on my class mates xD

Colours and shadings are digital, the outlines depends a bit on the age of the pictures. The earlier ones i have inked on paper and scanned them.
Now only the sketches are drawn on paper, everything else i make on the computer.

Mala, I'm doing arts at school, drawing manga myself, and then look here to find out I'm even worse then I hoped. I'd really want to know how you colour your drawing like that, it's awesome. I have no scanner so I can't post anything here however...

I have several colouring techniques (burn/dodge tools, colour layers or mask layers), but all are quite simple (without fancy stuff like backround reflections etc.) and with all i work with the same principle.
At first i define some base shadows and lightnings and with a second and third pass i add more and more details.

No, as long it has some layer system (its like a image over another image), the most should work.

I think photoshop is a bit overkill. I have a (licensed) copy, but i don´t use the half of tools and options.
Anyway, there are often trail versions to test if you can work with the programm, ohh and a graphic tablett comes in handy, too.

Gimp.  It's a free pseudo PS program I've been using for years.

Pshop is not a painting software and never intended to be. I'm painting since the times of deluxe paint on Amiga and I realized it really depends on what you expect from a software. My personal choice is Corel Painter probably the only Adobe product I'm using is After Effects. If you are using pshop the only stuff you need is layers, color swatches, paths, masking and some tools (brush clone brush smudge etc.) Effects are totally unnecessary, so its quite simple actually and internet is full of photoshop or gimp tutorials.

some info:
"The Sailor and The Maid" and "Random jig" are my present cup of tea if you know what I mean. I started to play harmonica not long ago.. about 1.5-2 years now. And I think that irish jigs are super awesome.

"Dirt theme" is a very old track. T'was made by my friend and me back in the days we were playin' Heroes 3&4. You know.. these games still kick asses.

"Autopilot" is probably older than "Dirt theme". T'was recorded back in the days my band was playin' grunge and stuff. About 3-4 years ago.

It's true we haven't got an art section on this board! We should though, cRPG is inspiring!

I was also thinking about making some sort of contest of artworks. The winning entries would replace the images we have ingame when we open the game menu/loading/char select etc. I think we could have 4-5 nice drawings in there. And after all what's more motivating for an artist than having his work shown in public as a reward?

I play guitar as a hobby. I made this song when a dear friend was quite ill with a terminal illness. Shortly later she passed away so it has some sentimental value. She lived a short but incredibly bright life.

I've always been fascinated by graffiti, I've never really had the oportunity to exercice a lot, but I think it's very hard to master. (like everything actually)

Different, you have to right click the image and select -> open image in new tab / window. Then copy paste the address from there. What you're linking to isn't a picture.

Well shit... CBA to upload these anywhere else so I'll link directly to the band page.

This is something between parody and serious music. Lyrics and (compositions in most cases) are made to parody the traditional power metal scene. Vocals sound intentionally quite the opposite what you would hear in power metal. All made couple years ago and I liked the making process because we had many good laughs :D.

Super quick project, with deathmetal and rock mutation :D. Everything else made by me but my other friend played the drums. I like the way how the drums and bass sound, but couldn't get the guitar to really match the sound I had in mind (now it is overly distorted and I didn't get the punch recorded no matter what. I guess it is time to blame mic or something...) Well it is an old piece and I learned a lot during the recording and mixing since I did it completely by myself unlike in that other project. Gosh I hope my vocal abilities are better nowadays like I think :D. Lyrics are just something basic philosophy shit about "Descartes's Demon". Hadn't really seen philosophy subject in many dm songs since Chuck Shculdiner's Death

Our clanbanner is made by good old Beauchamp. I don't know how he made it. I took the scorpion away from the banner by using some small tricks I've learned to do with gimp. I have it saved in my hard drive with invisible backround so it is pretty easy to throw into pictures like this one :P. Originally I made it to slap it into pictures as tattoos and such (like in my earlier post in this thread) but I'm not sure if I should link more of those pics here...

Me being one of the majority of people who think of stuff and don't follow through (dreamer not a doer) I might as well ask if there is already a game out there that lets you create weapons or tools or machines or constructions in general that you built out of components that you built from more fundamental components that interact in ways that mimic physics and chemistry, i.e. forces and reactions. So someone builds their own grenade launcher out of a piston launcher that they designed, which fires a grenade that has a contact fuse that allows two volatile materials to react, or some guy makes lots of mini-switches and then combines them to make a computer system for them in game etc etc. And in terms of multiplayer the gadgets and inventions would be preloaded, so the individual modules of each invention have their resultant action precalculated first, then the whole invention has it's total action and behaviour calculated too, then it is created as an object for that session to be used on call.

So, I had this crazy idea for a video game. It has inspirations from crpg, skyrim, and war thunder. The gameplay would be based on first person flying a dragon as well as fighting as ur character in certain situations.After every battle ( the battles are based on a matchmaking system) u and the dragon gain xp that u can use to get special skills or increase stats.

The game would be heavily based on physics, because the maps could have destructible buildings, scenery, etc. you would also be able to fall off the dragon, and there would be certain abilities like ramming, dragging, grasping other players or their dragons as well as player fights if the dragons interlock.

The game matches would be geared so u don't have to fight on the dragon, u could just use it to transport u to an area.

Multiple game modes, as well as a few things for guilds like practices, territory battles, etc

You'd get aesthetic items from achievements or money purchases. U can choose what the item looks like, but you would have to transfer the stats from another like piece of armor/weapon.

Specializations: u start out with a basic property, then as u gain xp u also gain renown. U can use this to put upgrades on ur house so u can use and upgrade certain items easier (build an archery range, u get bonus xp from bow combat.) guilds could also do this, but run the risk of losing it in a guild battle.

Weapons: everything medieval that can be used from horseback could be used while mounted. Also be able to bring a weapon for dismounted purposes.magic would be mainly used for buffs.


Yes I know I'm a nerd, but I've been thinking on this for a couple days. :oops:

btw now everything is easy, there are so many tutorials on everything. when i started to learn 3d, i was happy to find a tutorial on how to make a chair. if you will keep working, you will get much better, have no doubts about that. the best ways to get better imho is to try to make complex scenes, at least this way i learned the most.

Not really on purpose. I used to go to museums with school a lot though where I only paid attention to stuff that really interested me, and followed an art class at school for 3 years, but that was mostly basics and technique. Anatomy, most of my shading and composition is self-thaught over internet-tutorials and trying to reproduce other artists' styles.

The weather the day I photographed was quite harsh which made it very hard to photograh and my camera took some beating. The best places to take the shots were usually elevations where the winds were so strong I had to anchor myself to the ground at times, and I had to wipe the lense between every shot due to the rain that comes straight towards your face. However the landscapes and sky was amazing. Reminds me of Skyrim. This made it all worth it.

Thanks, It's just a hobby. Bought the camera some weeks ago and have been following around some classmates and friends on their trips taking photos :D

Have been cleaning my desktop and stumbled upon three poems that i wrote to a girl this summer. I have never written any poems before or since, but she inspired me for as long as it lasted, and so while she was at Roskilde festival, i have directed my unsatisfied lust into a more creative direction. One poem is too personal, one is in Danish, and this one is fairly neutral, though bare in mind that it was addressed to someone, and it might be slightly cryptic:

How lucky we would be to share;
A common way of life with universal truth and joy!
But only fools are unaware,
Of how much good can rigid mind destroy.

You say I'm wrong? You say there's good, and there is bad.
Let's disagree, let's not insist, why should we even bother?
So many different truths since ancient times we've said -
Why can't we hide our pride and humbly tolerate each other?

Though there's a truth I want to guard,
It guides me as a Northern Star in bleak existence,
This single greatest truth is Love -
Sometimes a summer Sun, sometimes a tiny flickering in distance...

Embrace it, take it's warmth and shine,
Don't listen to experience or voice of reason,
Believe it's truths, and trust it's lies -
Some lies a white – they are not sin, but wisdom.

Be careful not to lose your passion and attention,
Neglecting Love can make it shrink in size
Once huge as Sun - it might reverse ascension,
And drop as single diamond from your eyes.

Scored me few points with her - for the effort if nothing else. These days people don't write poems to ladies all that often, especially not when they get older. Lucky to live in a place where many people still appreciate some romance, and it's not all about money and such.

I have an urge to create, and not enough time to make everything I want. Trying to decide if I should dive into my pile of 10/0 seed beads and make stuff like this (not mine):

Or should I work on drawing? I am quite shit at it, but found Mrs. Witchcraft's old art books from college. There's one that is like 500 pages and covers the basics of pretty much everything (anatomy, landscapes, shading, composition, etc,) There's also a really thorough manga book that has whole chapters on facial expressions, hair, costume design, how to do those flowery/starry shojo lovescene backgrounds, and all kinds of stuff. There's also a yaoi book...  :oops:

easy: do what makes you happy; doesn´t matter if you try yourself in something new like seed bead crafting or pick up where you stopped with drawing, none of both is wasted time. Even Yaoi and pr0n in general is good anatomy practice and will bring you far (and you don´t even have to be good in it to make money with it on the web <-<).

I've done some beadwork before and it's a really relaxing repetitive thing compared to drawing. I also don't have a scanner right now so I can only post shitty cellphone pics for critique. Probably gonna do me some beads and just doodle here and there.

Also I can sell bead stuff for stupidly high prices at local craft fairs. I should probably make an Etsy account once I start churning out necklaces and bracelets and keychains.

I enrolled in a MIDI class this semester not knowing what in the fuck to expect.
Project guidelines have been very strict, but I'm throwing them to the wind on this one and doing whatever the fuck I want, because I don't feel like making regurgitated pop music for a grade, nor would I be proud of it.
Either way, MIDI is way too much fun.

It's perfect in that sense, imo. But the handle seems a bit too thin, especially the metal pieces that connect it to the bag, not sure it wouldn't just fold itself on such tiny hinges.
