Title: Marketplace and Alts
Post by: Hisagi on July 19, 2011, 09:36:21 am
So I have an alternate character which is an archer. Thanks to this dandy fucking upkeep patch I now have basically no gold to pay for my equipment. Not only did this patch nerf archers (again) but now I have almost no chance to even come somewhere close to the top of the scoreboards because I can't use my good load out.

Now I don't want to bitch over chadz's tunnel vision when he makes patches although I would oh-so like to. But rather come up with a somewhat solution without waiting for the upkeep to go back down.

Allow the marketplace for alt characters so I cant actually sell the loom point on this character and/or give money to it from my main. I don't know why NOT having this option would even matter. Who cares if a rich player can just supply 10 different alts fully. Let them play what they want.

Just a tip: when you go to patch something, think about the results.

For example:

Raising upkeep =
- Less heavy armor
- Less money in general for any new player.

On my main this upkeep doesn't even matter. This is just basically fucking over people with no money as is. I think about 10% of the community agrees with this patch, and 8% of that 10 are trolling.

With love,
Hisagi

would be nice if first 3 gens had a discount on upkeep, like only half or a third

Yes I do agree that the new upkeep system does seem a little extreme. I still feel it needs lowered down just a bit more.

Honestly though I think before this patch upkeep was fine where it was at, it was enough that the average person couldn't constantly use a top gear load out.

That is not 66k. It's 66k including heirlooms, which don't increase your upkeep cost.

In upkeep terms, that looks more like 8k (armor) + 16k (sword) + 6k (helm) + 10k (gloves) + 2k (legs) = 42k.

Maybe I've not understood how moneymaking works, but I'm losing money and my equipment is worth a total of 22k.
If I use both my crossbow and the katana, I lose money.
So, how are you making money? Do you have some way of ensuring that your x stays high enough? What have I missed here?

Are you using types of weapons you have a lot of WPF in? For example, if you use 2h but have 1 wpf in 2h, it will break more often.

I use a katana(which is 2-handed) and my wpf for it is 160 or so

Then you must've been unlucky with the multipliers then. I use around 40k of equip and I still gain gold..

But you also use a crossbow, which you must have ~1wpf in. That crossbow gets repaired a ton because of it.

Stop bringing the crossbow, and you'll make money.
