You're not taking into account the gold you gain passively over time for working at a town. The value is a lot lower than that. You won't be doing much at all with 5K gold in strat, but you can at least buy a 1x heirloom with 250K.

Right and they were sold for a whopping 1.4K gold not 5K. We're talking about the VERY first gold for troops transaction, of course it's going to be high.

And if you really think someone is going to pay 5K plus strat horses for one troop, you're out of your mind. Just do the math on 500 troops. Most people don't have over 100K gold, much less 1mil. One would think common sense would prevail here.
