Title: Repair Question
Post by: Testicleez on July 14, 2011, 10:21:59 am
I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but I actually 'lose' money and cannot even afford to repair my weapons after about 30 minutes of playing. So I'll end up having to un-equip a few items just to be able to gain some money in order to afford repair costs for another 30-45 minutes. I here a lot of people complaining about others leeching, but maybe if they reduced the repair costs then it wouldn't be such a problem. Halp :P

Here are the items I have equipped:

Reduce the armor you're wearing, also flamberge is a costly weapon. You can't go running around for rounds and rounds like you're fucking Capt.Georges.

Turn off your auto-repair and start repairing stuffs manually

That doesn't make since to me. I think it should be cheaper to repair from -1 back to 0, instead of paying the same price as from -3 to 0. I'm new here and I probably don't have much of a voiced opinion, but I honestly do not like this repair system at all. I think it needs some large improvements. Anyways, thanks for the help guys. I guess I'll just have to deal with it.

This is a bug and will get fixed asap. Using it is exploiting the system.

The manual repair is actually a bug? I will edit all my posts at once to prevent further misunderstandings..

Vary your playstyle. The game becomes so much more fun. Use a little lighter armor and play with that when you lose money. It's different and fun aswell.

Personally, the most fun I've had lately has been playing with my caveman. His total equipment cost is 24 gold.

Tell me if this sounds right...

I'm now using:

Yet I'm still losing gold. I played for an hour with that, and I went from having 8000 gold to 7000 gold. Do your items get damaged 'randomly?' If so, I have very bad luck.

I'm now using:
  • Light Strange War Mask
  • Strange Armor
  • Light Strange Greaves
  • Dadao

Yup, random. Before it was 4% chance per tick for a 5% repair, now it is a 7% repair at I dunno what chance per tick.

Try playing for a few more hours and see how it goes.

Repair costs are too high.

This punitive level of cost will prevent new players from playing.  The established players don't care.  They have a million gold or whatever for repairs.  They have nothing to spend it on.

Only the new players who don't have tens of thousands of gold and have no equipment need gold.  Yet the new system drains gold so fast you can't wear low level equipment and gain gold.  Who wants to play when you are not competitive?

I just started playing cRPG a couple of weeks ago.  I was trying to see what sort of character I liked to play.  The new 1 week time of "skip the fun" prevents that now.  The High repair costs prevent me from trying out equipment.  This patch will cause the game to stagnate.  There will be few new players.  You veterans  . . . enjoy your own company.

The "gold drain" or high repair costs keep new players from being competitive, by preventing them from acquiring better equipment and actually using it!  This patch with its high repair costs is a game killer.  It is not worth playing now.

^That pretty much sums it up.

I'm sick of it. I get on and play 3 rounds, and ALL 3 rounds I end up paying roughly 800 gold each due to at least 2-3 of my items being repaired EACH round. I don't know if there will ever be an update reducing the repair costs/chances, but until then I think I'm done. Sorry, I just can't have any fun if I can't even use cheaper items and play. Too annoying for me.

And all this guys complains that veterans have huge load of money and and new players have hard time to earn money...
Well, you didn't play before january 2011... you would cry like babies...

There is no problem with upkeep and this is not related to money, you just have to learn how to manage equip and gold, and that's why veterans don't have problem, they have experience and already made some mistakes.

First don't buy stuff if you can't upkeep them
Play with crappy gear till you have some money in the bank, let say around 15k/20k (you can make this in 2 or 3 days)
Buy several set of armor from low to high tier, same with weapons.
use low tier gear when on x1, then as your "x" grow up you can use better gear.
If you lose huge amount of money in a round, don't stop playing, in the long term you almost always win gold.

Tunic - Straw Hat - Leather Gloves - Rus Cav Boots - (Weapon of choice)

There's how you make money, look good, and not have to worried about cash.

For shits and giggles i played naked (straw hat only) with a practice longsword and earned 40k in about 2-3 hours. If I did that once a week that'd be enough to use my max armor for a while.
