Title: Feeling your effectiveness
Post by: Arkonor on July 14, 2011, 02:57:34 am
Hi there

I'm pretty new to this game and I really do love it. Maybe too much been missing sleep somewhat :P

Like most people there are things I would like changed but I also know that I don't have enough knowledge of the game to suggest balancing issues.

But what I can do is tell what I found missing the most when starting out. That was how effective I really was in combat. The only information you get during the end is how many you killed by doing the last hit. And you all know new players don't score much in that department. Now I don't know the capabilities of the game engine but if it would be easily implemented it would be great to have it show total damaged done on the scoreboard. You could even make it have a double negative effect to that number for friendly damage. You know how "kids" love the scoreboards and probably good to have an incentive not to damage others.

Also it will probably help archers more. Since they often do serious damage to the other team from range but do not do the final blow. People just like to know what they did to help winning the round.

Just my 2 cents

Sorry to say but after last patch archers lost range, and they haven't done serious damage since the first patch.

so you are a kid for suggesting something we could boast upon? the only thing u need to see is how a guy turns red when u hit him and squeels like a pig, that is the best notification ... might be possible that if the game started counting all this and noting it somewhere it could cause some performance issues, but not sure, just a thought

and yeah, i like how for instance in WoT u see how many and whom u damaged and killed and stuff, but i do not see a reason for this in crpg other than e-peen

I like this idea, or maybe even a combat log would be nice.

ie:

You did X dmg to Arkonor

Arkonor hits you for X

I would like to know how much dmg I am doing as well.

It would be cool, but it might hide a lot of the screen and be busy.  Maybe an end of the round thing?

Manhammer will you ever stop hating on the new patch re:Archers :{D

I personally like playing archer post patch (mostly because of the Yumi. Which is mostly because I used to do Kyudo in Japan, which is mostly a silly reason, mostly.)

EDIT:

I used to ~ after nearly every death in DoD to see if I had done anything. I wouldn't be so bothered with my melee chars but with my Archer it would be very nice to be able to be very disapointed every time I shoot a tincan lol.
