Title: Finished Maps
Post by: Nasturtium on January 06, 2011, 10:03:50 pm
For ease of sharing with server admins and testers, I would like to consolidate all uploaded finished or updated maps to a single location, for digestion by the ravenous masses. Any updates will be posted here. Add them to this thread and I will update the master list Please submit a pic if possible.

To submit your map; please include the .SCO file and a .TXT with the appropriate strings for your map, Upload both files as a compressed file to http://www.mbrepository.com, Unknown download links will not be posted!

*** If I have screwed up your listing somehow, pm me and I will try to fix it in a timely manner.

ADMINS, if you download and add one of these maps to your server, please notify the mapper, thanks!

I'm stickyin' this thread as it is a good idea. Please provide a link, and even better, a screenshot of your FINISHED map.

Only post in this thread if you have a map to post please.

I've made six new maps, all of which are crpg compatible.

http://www.mbrepository.com/file.php?id=2357

Sandcastle is a desert town map with three paths between the two teams, and a small plaza in the middle.

(click to show/hide)

Boulevard is a swadian city with a central elevated highway in between the winding streets.

(click to show/hide)

Frontier is a more open map, set on farmland bordered by a river and various forests. Cavalry and archers should have a good time of it, but there is cover for infantry if they can get to it.

(click to show/hide)

Cradle contains a small town next to a mountain lake. There are multiple paths of attack for both teams through the streets, via the forest or along the shoreline.

(click to show/hide)

Hillside is an open map containing a relatively gently sloped hill with a path curving around the side.

(click to show/hide)

Dryport is a seaside town with pathways through the streets, as well as ladder access to the central rooftops.

Horseshoe Canyon v1.3

Two armies vie for control of a strategic canyon oasis in the Sarranid desert. The townsfolk have fled to the keep to watch and see at whose mercy they will find themselves. A medium-sized map with multiple conflict areas.

1.3 is an attempt to address some of the gameplay issues of the previous version.  The hill has been newly constructed, the spawns have been moved, and a guard tower has been added to off-set the hill's importance.

*sigh*  I'm gonna lose that wonderful thing called anonymity today......and because of it, I may have to fend off my own teammates!

The file (and post) is a bit on the large size.  I apologize for that, but there are 12 maps in it.

One is modified from Native, a few have updated versions of maps you may have played...(and probably despised with the fiery passion of a thousand suns)... and a few are relatively new....less than a month old.

I can forgive you for all of them but Indoor Mayhem.  Oh wait, Steppe Field's on there too. ;-)

No seriously, thanks for contributing.  I have to say I really enjoy Bariyye and RuIn.  And Viking Village is growing on me.

EDIT:  Kept wondering who was setting up Arthurian motifs in their scenes.

The size of the .sco file should have been ~80-100 kB, but I have this bug where the file I'm editing sometimes has a spike in it's data size....this one spiked up to 640 kB.

******************************************

In other news, I've heard a few complaints about having difficulty getting off the ship in Cutthroat Island, so I've added another ramp exit.

I forgot to post this here earlier, this is a mere copy/paste from the oll' forum.

I finally came up with a work I wanted to do a long time ago :

Map "Plain Skirmish" :

(click to show/hide)

I spent some time fine tuning the terrain seeds to get a nice river, the rest of the work was rather fast.

Each team begins by one side of the river, far from each other. Team 1 spawns southwest in the picture and team two northwest. Team one is a little more centered because it has to cross the river to take the vantage points. There are 2 bridges to cross it near the map borders where the embankments (?) are too high. The island is reachable by the water, by the wrecked boat for team 1 and by a rope bridge for team 2. It's easier to get there for team 2. To counter that, there is a tower that allows a few people from team 1 to have a nice pew pew spot. You need a ladder to get there.

Island :
(click to show/hide)

Tower :
(click to show/hide)

Rope bridge :
(click to show/hide)

Wrecked boat :
(click to show/hide)

Brigde near team 2 spawn :
(click to show/hide)

This is the sco file :

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0VH3ZK5H

These are the lines to put in the module system file modules_scenes.py :

("multi_scene_22",sf_generate,"none", "none", (0,0),(100,100),-100,"0x000000003c6488168004ad2d00005c3000005517000049fe",
    [],[],"outer_terrain_plain"),

This map is currently included in the EU4_BT1 map rotation, feel free to use for your server. Just send me a PM here when you do.

Okay.  Got Aqaba into decent shape.  Still developing but it's time to see how it plays.  Same download link as Horseshoe, just update my listing to:

Download Kong Ming's Map Pack (http://"http://www.mbrepository.com/file.php?id=2489")

Horseshoe Canyon v1.3

Two armies vie for control of a strategic canyon oasis in the Sarranid desert. The townsfolk have fled to the keep to watch and see at whose mercy they will find themselves. A medium-sized map with multiple conflict areas.  v1.3 is an attempt to address some of the gameplay issues of the previous version.  The hill has been newly constructed, the spawns have been moved, and a guard tower has been added to off-set the hill's importance.

(click to show/hide)

Aqaba v1.1

Controlling the strategic port city of Aqaba is crucial for any army which desires to invade the Sultanate of the Sarranid.  It's walled harbor is the Achilles heel of an entire Kingdom if it should fall into foreign hands.

Bay Keep

Feedback:

Well the spawns being so close together without any sort of cover is rather horrible...mostly because it's too easy to shoot over into the enemy spawn and get a headshot.  :?

The ruined tower is rather buggy. If you're on the outside you can't get into the tower, and as I climb up the tower you have a very high chance of being drawn into a blackhole(I guess) and end up pushed off of the stairs to your death.     :( :( :(

Also it's possible to cross the gap between the spawns with an invisible bridge...

Much work is needed!!!!!

New version of my maps, added Helm's Deep as a siege map & fixed bugs & tweaked the old ones.  Fixed the issues Lorne brought up on Bay Keep, btw :)

DL link: http://www.mbrepository.com/file.php?id=2513

(click to show/hide)

I have no idea how Helm's Deep will balance.  I tried to set it up balanced as well as I could, but it will probably need spawn point/flag position revisions.  I'd like to have it played for several dozen rounds to let people get a feel for it before revising it (unless its just totally horrible of course).
Title: Re: Finished Maps
Post by: CtrlAltDe1337 on January 20, 2011, 03:17:59 am
New download link, the only change is to Bay Keep.

http://www.mbrepository.com/file.php?id=2519

I've heard reports of bugs on that map still even though I thought If fixed them, so the only thing I can figure is that I didn't put the proper file in the pack.  If someone can let me know if it works with this version I'd appreciate it.  There are so many maps on the rotation I hardly ever get to be on mine to test it personally. :/

It would be cool if Airith could stagger the maps from various people in the pack, but that's for another thread.

Mm... Curious as how you would upload your mapdata to the Repository? I've got a multiplayer map I've made using the Module and Scripting process in BETA and I'm thinking of uploading it... How..?
Title: Re: Finished Maps
Post by: Kong Ming on January 22, 2011, 09:30:04 am
In your module folder there's a folder called SceneObj.  In there is an .sco file named after your map with all the info for it.  Upload that, as well as a text file with the excerpt of code for your map from the scenes.txt file.  Those two things are all someone really needs to add your map to their list.

Two of my first maps in one pack. I had a third but scrapped it due to a scripting error that created a very.. very large hole in the middle of the map. Both of them are in a zip folder for your downloading please and come bundled in raw code and .sco as to confuse the hell out of anyone that doesn't make their own maps.

this maps got barriers on each and every roof, all fights will take place on ground level :]  why?
i hate roof camping,
there are many places where people would fall into and couldnt get out
it was intended to fight on main streets and back alleys with minaret being a center point so people wouldnt get lost on this map

Here's an offbeat siege map that I made over the past 16 hours.. Attackers spawn on two smaller boats, and must fight their way down the defender's vessel. The flag is located in the sterncastle. The defender's vessel takes about 30 seconds to traverse by foot, front to back.

The first map was never made for cav. And I'm not really happy with it either, to be honest. I want to change it completely but I don't have time.

The third map, I tried to compromise a bit for infantry, archers, and cav. While its not best for cav since most players take the bridges, I don't think it hurts cav. Maybe getting rid of some houses would make it better for cav to run around. My new one is basically a big battlefield. Hopefully that will be more geared towards cav. The few I've heard from seem to like it.

Thanks for the input though. Usually its, "its gay".

Misty Mountain Hop: Ive played this one, I like the idea and once in the center location its pretty even. It seems more geared towards archers for two reason.(1) That one tower with ladder going up to it. Archers tend to rush to that tower and IF they make it there they have free range or alot of the map to get kills, not to mention, its a pain to get up in there to take em out if youre not ranged. (2) I notice that one team starts by a real high hill on one side of the map--by that damn towe-- and tend to camp there as well. Though the hill can get surrounded and then bye bye archer. haha!
Bridge Over Troubled Waters: Played this one too. Actually disagree with Tofi and I am a Cav. guy. Though it isnt geared toward cav it works just fine. Ive gotten a lot of kills with cav. Its good for archers too in my opinion since they can get off the ground. the general melee(the core of the fun) I dont know too much about but Id say once near the river they seem to have an alright time. But Im not usually front line. :P

Keep up the good work.

About the thrid map (bridges): They just went up on the towers, so we had absolutely no chance to reach them.

This is my first map. It is a siege map--Like no other?. Its a medium/small castle surrounded by a city. The attack will start in the front. Thats not where it ends though. Theres a ladder in the front and off to both sides, a back door, and an entrance somewhere with out the castle. Defenders beware - attacks explore. Those are the two suggestions.

I have tested the crap out of this map but alas I am only one. I present "Phoenix Castle" to the cRPG community for your enjoyment and judgment. I hope you all find it enjoyable.

Version Changes:
1.1:
Moved around spawns. No one should be spawning on cliffs anymore.
Decoration pass. Everything should be much 'prettier'.
Lowered the house next to the main gatehouse to address concerns.
Swapped the door in the main gatehouse. Defenders can open it from both directions, attackers can't open it at all.
Added a destructible gate to the inner gatehouse.
Added stairs to battlements in the inner courtyard near the inner gatehouse.

Imo, it is better to have all comments regarding a map in a thread of it's own, and this thread a list of all finished maps with links to their respective threads.

I have made a new version of Screaming Trees, which is the thick forest map. The two main issues with the current map is the "lag" created from the amount of objects. The second issue was the "forcefield" around many of the trees that people were complaining were invisible walls. The forcefield issue was fixed simply by only using normal size trees. None of them have been enlarged, so no it looks less like Endor, for good or bad. For the first issue, I have tried to lower the amount of objects as much as possible while still maintaining the lushness of the forest. I did this by making the map smaller and getting rid of the grassy ground cover. I then inserted my own grasses and weeds, etc up to the point it made my own system lag. FYI, I lagged really bad on the original so I think my system represents the average out there. I believe I have balanced that as much as I can. Although I would always like more bushes and trees, the engine just cannot support it.

Yes it is not a bad idea for a map, you just always have to consider the lag when placing objects.  I try to keep that in mind when making them.

I never had an issue with screaming trees.  I think we should vote out some of the really old maps to keep it fresh.

Castle Rane: is a small castle. It features 2 ladders(above ground) on either side of the castle. The attacker spawns on the other side of the the water canal. If you fall into the water youll find that it is not above your head. At the docking area theres a ladder to get u back out. Im also reintroducing the underground tunnel. It leads from under the dock to the flag. Within the castle it looks like a big well. I am hoping that this is easier to defend then it looks. Its easy to get around within the castle, for the defence... Lets see how it turns out.

This is my first map and in running tests on it, it's been really fun. If you grew up in the '90s, you undoubtedly remember the blockbuster movie "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" with Kevin Costner and the awesome battle scene in the middle of Sherwood Forest when the Sheriff of Nottingham unleashes his army of barbarians on Robin Hood and his merry men. I designed this map using that scene as an inspiration and there are a few easter eggs hidden throughout the map. Enjoy!

hi, please add my map, thank you...

The Cave of Odin - multiplayer battle map
Small but very carefuly detailed map for multiplayer battle mode is designed for smaller intensive infantry fights (optimum about 30 on each side). Its primarily designed for melee only servers - archers and cavalry won't be to effective on this scenario. Barriers limit fighting inside the cave and small exterior area around the entrance. The cave interior has everything what a "proper medieval" cave should have - cooking place, storage, armory, bedrooms etc. Map also features two "secret" locations/passages, players knowing them can gain the upper hand in the fights.

I'd like to get people to test this out, especially those with lower-end performance PC's. I believe it has the potential to be a bit laggy, and I reduced some foliage for this reason, and if it's bad, I could certainly reduce more. However, I can't test it for this because I get ~120 fps at any given time. Leave feedback, if you will, on the page (http://forum.c-rpg.net/index.php/topic,4932.0.html)

Here's a finished battle map. Its a waterfront with a dock on one side, where one team starts, and an extension of the town (lack of any other idea how to fill that part) on the other where the other team starts. The quickest way to fight will be going along the beach straight at your opponents. But its wide open with VERY little cover. Or you can go into the town and you have a path at the first intersection that has a little more cover with multiple ways to the beach head. OR! You can go where I hope most do go, all the way to the market area, where theres lots of cover from archers and cav. Also, for the archers, I put some nests around the market and at the spawn points too. cav should have an ok time, though it will be hard to turn around if youre confronted by a line of pikes (1,2, or more) due to the fact the way is not really that wide til you get to the market.

Looks terrific, Ronan. For a name, just make up something that sounds vaguely Arabian/Indian, like Rhadeyef, Jelammet, Zhiderra, Khelamji, Kharadesh, etc. I usually browse google maps a bit, then make up something and see if it already exists or not by googling it.

Haven't been here in a long time.

Well, I had the itch, so I made a seige map.  I'd always done battle maps before, so it might not be too hot, but then again, neither was Ice Age, so to speak.

I give you "Oceanfront Castle"

Retired Heroes' Club Entertainment Park, a duel map.

Here on mbrepository.com (http://www.mbrepository.com/file.php?id=3066)

I made a thread about it, but as I've seen this one, I'm wondering if it's absolutely necessary and not just wasting room.

Empires rise and fall, trade comes and goes. A once prosperous outpost, the link between the east and the west, now a shanty town hardly worth the ground on which it stands. New alliances are forged and old roads are travelled once more. A new lord is grasping for power and once again shall the derelict hill fort be Manned, to protect the artery of trade from clogging, to keep the trade flowing freely.

The Hill

Defender flag

The bridge

Attacker spawn
(click to show/hide)

The initial attack is fairly straight forward, one main ladder, one side door. Either of those two will lead to opening of the first gate. While up on the first wall attackers can choose  to stay on the walls and try to take the second part of the first wall which will lead to the second and third siege ladders, which in turn will lead to the second wall and the second gate. Or storm upwards towards the forth ladders close to the gate. From there it's pretty straightforward towards the flag. There is also a "direct way" to the flag via the backdoor.

Krak des Chevaliers -- siege map
Hello,
a few days ago I've finished my new siege map and I wondered if you'd be intrested to host it.
There is one minor issue which I just don't know how to fix it namely, switching rounds after each siege. I hope you know how to do so, or if you'd be able to tell how to do so.

I've also added screenshots (see link below)

I hope you feel like it's a good map
Any comment is appreciated.

The server switches rounds after each win/loss.... That has nothing to do with map making, so don't worry.

My first attempt at making a map for c-rpg!  :D Tried to keep it balanced, but it might be hard for cav (hard to say for me, I don't play cav) (This map is for Battle only)

Old Fort With Village

Spawn 2 is closer to the main village (which is packed full of houses with ladders on them for archers) but both spawns are exactly the same distance (time-wise anyway) from the gatehouse, which should prove fairly central to the map.

EDIT: This map has been greatly edited (The Download link above is still the old version, in case anyone wants it). New Version: http://forum.c-rpg.net/index.php/topic,13706.0.html

Let me guess: you're an archer. Cav will hate this map and the whine will be tremendous.

No, I'm infantry. Though I agree it ended up being too archer friendly. (Though playing around with it there's a ton of cover and back ways into archer nests at least for infantry to use) Also, the path is for the most part smooth so while testing it with a swadian man-at-arms I was able to keep up a good speed most of the time as long as I kept near the path.

I'll try to keep cav more in mind in the future, however.

BI Stone Keep

Here is my first CRPG Siege Scene, provided for attackers are 2 ladders and a tower. I have tried to balance the distances and the aspects of what defenders and attackers need but I understand balancing might be needed and am ready to take that up.

Unless someone objects in a loud shrill voice and comes up with a  really really compelling reason no to, I will simply merge the submission threads and call them something like "Battle/Siege/Other submission for official servers", which is admittedly is not quite the same thing, but close enough.

Might be worth creating a rageball map submission sticky thread too? Seeing as how that mode already rivals siege in popularity.
