War of Rights American Civil War GameWar of Rights is an American Civil War game being developed by Campfire Games an international indie game development company.
The American Civil War era is not a new genre for this team as their community manager, Hinkel, was part of the Blue and the Grey mod (Empire: Total War) and North and South mod (Mount&Blade Warband: Napoleonic Wars).
Campfire Games has been working on War of Rights for approximately 2 years now and until recently we didn't know to much about the actual details of the game. Campfire Games graciously agreed to share some more details on the game that has us really excited for this upcoming release.
War of Rights General Overview - Multiplayer online game using a modified CryEngine for hundrets of players.
- Set during the American Civil War, recreating the various battlefields starting with the Battle of Antietam. The Battle of Antietam was the bloodiest single-day battle in American history with a
combined tally of wounded, missing, and dead at 22,717.
- 1st person perspective
- Full battle is recreated in 1:1 scale with a total area of 4 x 4 km.
- Maps are historically accurate and reflect what the battlefield actually looked in in 1862.
Gameplay - Fully functional chain of command system where players can apply for an officer position somewhere in the chain of command.
- As an officer you will be able to command the regiment of privates assigned to that officer.
- As an officer you will receive orders from your commanding officer which you can choose to follow.
- Players will be able to move at different speeds: walk, either with the rifle at shoulder or in hand, run, or sprint.
- Players will be able to thrust and swing edged weapons.
- Stamina system: Running will slowly use the players stamina and sprinting will drain it very quickly. Lacking in stamina will seriously affect how steady you're able to hold the rifle and aim. It will
also add a penalty to the reload speed as well as the cool down on thrusting/swinging edged weapons.
Grittiness & Brutality of Civil War The developers are trying to make War of Rights as authentic as possible. The battles of this era were some of the most ferocious and violent ever fought. Often soldiers would get torn to pieces by several minié ball or a cannon shell. To help players get a sense of what these soldiers endured and get immersed in the experience they have:
- Mangled corpses.
- Animated gut shot soldiers crawling around on the ground.
- Soldiers on the ground twisting in agony.
- Blood will soak the fields!
Player Customization - Players will be able to choose between various variants of jackets, backpacks, hats and faces.
