/facepalm
How about fight people your own level and gear, hone your skills, try to push the tide of victory into your teams favor, challenge that tin can with the 2her spamming away and see if you can bring him down, challenge yourself with less armor and a lower tier weapon vs the enemies... You know, actually fight and play the game?  If all you can think of is crushing peasants then it kind of shows what your overall goal in the game was to begin with.  Personally I'd rather look for the specific names out there of good players and try to take them out.

When I read your post ( not just this one, and not only on this forum ), i get a feeling you need to play Takken on a console. The original M&B WB is not a button smashing arcade beat'em'up. Its an RPG. Its about building you char.

Taken from M&B WB official page:

"There are no limits in Calradia, your story and game-play experiences are truly unique."

The pre-patched cRPG proved it!

One who is looking for a "competitive multi-player game" ( as one smart guy called cRPG ), with global scoreboards and such - will not buy Mount&Blade. He will buy CoD or Street Fighter. They are polished and offer more to one, who seeks that type of game-play.

Butt-hurt pre-patched peasants will reach lvl 30, smash buttons for few evenings, and move on. Even though not you, chadz ( concluded from his posts ), and many others care about it.

Whatever made cRPG unique - is gone. Upkeep? Xp/gold system? Lvl cap? I have no idea. But its not there anymore.

646 hours of cRPG played... I might push it to 666 just for the sakes of it hehe

You might want to check out War Darts as your throwing weapon. If you invest heavlity in Throwing skills PT/WPP, it might work better then higher level weapons, since it has pierce damage - yet there are 7 darts in one stack. With low throwing wp's, i would just take lances/jarids ( if you can afford them ) so you can use them as your "before charging" weapon to make few peasant insta kills.

Just played for 5-6 hours... Have very mixed feelings.

Many players concider the pre-patched version of cRPG as some sort of a "Grind Era". It seems cRPG have entered a "Spam Era" now.
I am not a good "skilled" player, I use a 1h + Shield, but the last 2 hours on a siege server the only weapon i used was a Great Maul.

Why? Both defenders and attacker were a giant spam mob.

Life became cheap in post-patch cRPG. A vicious, raging pre-patched peasant is wearing a decent armor and wielding a huge axe or sword, but there is the same guy inside the armor. Peasant tactics is simple and effective: be in a mob - swing your weapon with all your horse-knight-hating might!
Its funny and sad. I used to cherish my kills. To every kill, to every battle, there used to be its own story. I laughed, I cursed, I planned... I could recognise many players by their looks. Now there is only a faceless spamming mob: Stay in tight group - spam and gank.

Its fun! M&B is a great game! I have played many great games and have many great memories! I feel still addicted to cRPG, and its great game-play, but my greatest cRPG moments will stay with the old version. It is somehow not "spicy" enough now...

Guys, it seems we are looking at cRPG from 2 different sides. One side is more of a "diablo", the other is more like "counter strike" with swords...

Diablo is a "grind" game in your terms, but would you dare to say it is a bad/shit game? Yes, in counter strike you are rewarded for your personal/physical abilities. In Diablo - its your ability to plan, your patience and your in-game gear.  ( not 100% so, but you get the idea )

I have never liked or played "platform" games like Mario, Ninja Gaiden and such. For the same reason i do not like the new cRPG system / Native system - my ability to quickly push buttons, in a whack-a-mole way, or make a 0.1 sec 180 turn to shoot a pixel sized enemy 1 km away -  is not fun or rewarding. I do not wish to posses such a "skill". I do like BFBC2 ( lvl 43 there if i am not mistaken ) and old Counter Strike how it was back in 90's - but both of the mentioned FPS games are WAY better for that "skill" based game-play, some cRPG players want/like.

cRPG was a fine combination of both. For me, and many others it seems, RPG element of cRPG was the key to a fun game. When i first installed cRPG in summer - i felt lucky! Finally! An RPG game that do not have a "lock" system!!! I had to actually hit/shoot/parry - not just "lock" and click on a skill button. ( i have never played WoW, but i loved Diablo and Hellgate London )

So for me cRPG was an action RPG game without the annoying "target lock" system. The patch made it - a 3rd/1st person action shooter with some rpg elements ( the last CoD has about the same feeling to it ).

Please do not get angry! It is not a good or bad thing. Same as Diablo and Counter Strike - its a different game now. And it attracts different players.

Again, its chadz's mod. So even though i do not like the direction cRPG took - I can only accept it or leave.

I think i will stick around for a while. After all - i have played over 600 hours. And i like 1st person shooters too! Just have to re-adjust!

Peace guys!

Meah... chadz have spoken. I respect hes point of view. It is hes mod.
I hate the patch, but he has right to do whatever he wants. End of story.

Suggestions Corner / Re: Upkeeping
« on: January 06, 2011, 05:50:29 pm »
My suggestion would be - as always - adding non-combat skill+ attributes. So players could spend points in charisma and intelligence, which are then the basis for skills like smithing, persuation, leadership, etc. Those skills could offer various boni for lowering upkeep, getting more gold, reducing break chance and so on. With that players could either decide to skill up a pure fighting character that has high combat ability but can't effort high end equip(as it is now) or to sacifice some prowess and invest in the non-combat abilites in order to use better equip. Those new abilites could have also have various effects on strategus, scene objects(catapult/engineering), commander and voice chat menu. More diversity for character development would be a good thing imo.

Oh! I have been really negative to upkeep system ( and still am ), but the post above is the first Solomon solution. Really, just read it few times. THAT would make the "old school" system possible ( enough to ride plated horse OR have full plate, but have only like 3-6 points in Strengh/Agility respectivly - balancing the gear advantage. Dont forget the lvl cap ), without removing the upkeep/repair system and pissing off players who like it.

+1

the fact that you new_player_noob would ever suggest that you are more skilled than others amuses me to no extent.

You are not a new player but you most certainly are a noob.

I hope that you and your dumb submarine horse leave the game once and for all.

Comes from a guy who spams that 3m long Axe  like crazy all day long, wearing a full plate.
