For Desires first battle against Reyvadin. James told me most of his guys were on vacation so no mercs were available.

He tells me the day of the second battle before we knew Desire was in acre the whole time.
N_James: Hey pistachio
N_James: I figured i should tell you this as you were trying to sign people against desire at reyvadin
N_James: but shes come to us seeking to enlist for protection
N_James: and we have accepted her offer
N_James: She will be joining us and will operate reyvadin as a free trade city
Pistachio: oh
Pistachio: Desire is joining acre?
N_James: yeah
Pistachio: We claimed acre..
Pistachio: You gotta support us on that
Pistachio: I mean
Pistachio: We claimed Reyvadin***
Pistachio: At least resapect us for that
N_James: That is unfortunate
N_James: but we have signed no agreements
N_James: it is a complex situation
N_James: but she basically is alone and was seeking protection from larger groups
N_James: she is a great xbower and i would enjoy not fighting against her
N_James: i am always recruiting and she is a good player
Pistachio: So you're just going to take my city?
N_James: im not taking anything
N_James: but desire is joining us
He said he wasn't even taking the fief.
Later after the battle :
N_James: Hey
N_James: So you have declared against us
N_James: very unfortunate
N_James: We will not attack you later than 330 am
N_James: and not before 3pm
N_James: as a courtesy
N_James: est*
N_James: well
N_James: maybe a bit later than 330
Pistachio: When did we declare war?
N_James: Desire is in our faction
N_James: You attaacked did you not?
N_James: i havent looked i admit
N_James: but i heard
Pistachio: I attacked yea
N_James: Ok so you declared war on us
N_James: Unless you cancel the attack we are moving in
N_James: we are reinforcing and will defend
N_James: with full force
N_James: you have 30 minutes to cancel the attack still
N_James: If you do you can salvage your relations in the area
