General / Stronghold concern
« on: December 06, 2014, 03:56:13 pm »
First off, let me start by saying Stronghold sounds like the ideal game-mode, it offers RP, combat, siege, strategical thinking, more persistence and lots of freedom to build the castle you want. My great concern with this mode however, is that I see numerous opportunities for trolls to take advantage of people who want to play the game-mode as intended. How will a team manage to use all the resource points to build one castle instead of 20 different people all wanting their plan to be executed? How will you make sure some *sshole isn't going to deliberately spend all the resources on building five gatehouses next to each other just because he can? The lack of a anti-troll/anti-noob mechanic for artillery and sapping is one of the reasons Napoleonic Wars failed imo. There are pretty much four types of people in NW when you look at sappers and artillery, which in M:BG will be the exact same case. There is the innocent noob who is trying out all the different kinds of props and ammo and this way waisting resources, you can't really get mad with this kid. Then there is the obvious troll who is putting planks up all around just to f*ck with everyone else. Also there is the "pro" who thinks he knows everything, is constantly CAPSing in the chat about how wrong everyone else is placing stuff and destroying all but his creations. Last but not least there are the clan members who, generally speaking, know what they are doing and are just trying to help their team/clan the best they can. in Crpg we have seen similar things with ladder placing back in the day. you might say admins would be able to solve the problem, but with the intended 200 player servers, admins struggle to keep an eye on everything.
I think the Stronghold game-mode is a very good pro for this game and is an important feature to differentiate M:BG from other games alike, but being such a complicated game-mode, which makes it such a great concept, could also become its downfall. I think the press is also aware of this and it might slow promotion and funding down. I don't know if you guys already have solved these kinds of problems for Stronghold, but if you have, sharing them would bring good things I think.

General / Spread the word through Youtube!
« on: November 23, 2014, 12:41:23 pm »
I think one of THE best ways to get more backers is through Youtube, how much are you exactly lobbying to get in all of their future vids? They will probably want gameplay on their hands before having something real to talk about in their vids so maybe giving them some would be a good idea? If any help is needed in contacting(or forcing) them I(and so many more people in here) would be happy to help, just give the command and a strategy!

General Discussion / reforge?

Is the reforge mechanic the thing that lets you swap a single MW post-patch? Because only 2 LPs sucks.

I'm considering using a morningstar from horseback but I don't know what the penalties are for both using it as a 2h from horseback and with a shield, does anyone know?

Beginner's Help and Guides / need help calculating my losses
« on: November 24, 2013, 10:16:24 pm »
I just retired and am wondering how much it will cost me to play with 7,100 gold on upkeep costs untill I'm lvl 31 again. could anyone help me? I remember seeing a tread in which a person calculated how much time and round it would take to get to a new gen without you influencing the outcome, can't find it though :/
I'd like to know if I can get through a gen with this much upkeep by selling a LP every gen.

Thanks

Beginner's Help and Guides / damage and difficulties
« on: October 16, 2013, 09:43:00 pm »
What is the connection between damage and the difficulty of the weapon?

for example: The Francisca does 31c damage with a diffculty of 2PT, while the Heavy Throwing Axe does 47c and has a difficulty of 4. Does the amount of damage refer to the amount that you would be able to inflict with the weapon at it's difficulty level or with 0 PT?

Suggestions Corner / Reporting for teamhits
« on: October 08, 2013, 06:04:17 pm »
I think there is a problem with the reporting of teamhits. Today I got hit in the beginning of the round by one of my teammates, ofcourse I reported him, but before I could he'd already hit me 4 times. The thing is, I was only able to report him for his last hit on me. So what I suggest is that you can report all hits made to you in the last 15 seconds. 1 Ctrl+M=last hit, 2 times Ctrl+M= last and secondlast, and so on. Is this difficult to do? And what do you guys think?

Thx

Beginner's Help and Guides / 2h cav
« on: September 07, 2013, 01:19:44 pm »
I'm thinking of going 2h cav, but have no info on what the penalties are for using a 2h in onhanded mode/on horseback. I could really find anything on the forums but that could just be me. If anyone could give me advise on builds, please do.

Thx

Suggestions Corner / 8 attack and block directions
« on: May 19, 2013, 08:53:57 pm »
The title says it all.
It would really improve the realism factor of the game, because the basic attack directions in both the japanese and european martial arts are based on 8 directions of attack(the earopean is based on even more actually). My suggestion is that the 8 different attacks would be: upper right, upper left, bottom right, bottom left, right(same as in current state), left(same), up(same), down(new but is kind of self-explanetory).
Of course the same would go for the block directions.

the best way to devide the mouse movement into different attacks is:
(click to show/hide)

I bet you're thinking: Where the f*ck did my stabby stabby go????!!!
Well I'm not sure, it could go anywhere really, but here's a few suggestion anyway:

-There could just be a button for it, either on the keyboard of by clicking the mousewheel(and a second button for blocking). the problem with that is that clicking a button is faster than moving your mouse to a direction and clicking your LMB.

-Another way of triggering the stab would be to keep the mouse entirely/relatively still and then clicking your LMB. But this might fuck the entire combat movement up because you have to stop your mouse from moving to stab.

-A third way to do it could be that you have to look down AND press a key/the mouse wheel. pressing the mousewheel is quite a good option, but you also need a seperate button to block.

There might even be the possibility to have a stab from a lower position and one from the upper position

This might be a fun way of challanging yourself in the game and making the game more rewarding if your really good at it because it is harder for noobs to block your attacks. On the other hand making the game harder is shit for new players that try the game.

The second problem is whether it's possible to do, hard-coding might kill this idea. Also, can the mouse register difference properly?

What do you guys think and think the issues might be with the stabbing?
Do you guys think it's a practical idea?

Open for discussion and improvement of the idea

EDIT: Does any other mod already have anything like this?

General Discussion / Mount and Blade Bannerlord and Crpg
« on: May 08, 2013, 11:54:45 am »
First of, I'd like to say that Crpg is my favorite mod for warband and Crpg gave me ton of fun in the 1700 hours I've already played it. Making warband my most played game because of Crpg. Though now Bannerlord has been announced, I'm not sure what's going to happen to the mod and it's community. We don't know anything about Bannerlord yet. but do you devs have any plans, ideas or speculation about what's happening to the mod in different scenerios of what Bannerlord will be like. With that I mean whether the new game will allow modding, if the whole mod can be transfered into the new game, whether the dev team is actually willing to go on making the mod or if a new fresh start might be good for the mod so everything can be re-done and done better.

What is your opinion?
