Honestly it would take less time to grow into an adult, get married, have a kid, raise him to be a game developer and have him develop and release your own decent version of Mount & Blade 2, than it is to finally play Bannerlord.

Jokes aside, from what im gathering the delays are due to the development of the engine. Seems to me they are trying to pull a Bethesda. As in pretty much make a lot of moddable games on a same engine(or on an engine forked for it) for years, for less development time. Like Bethesdas Oblivion(and dlcs), or Fallout 3: Oblivion(and dlcs), or Fallout NV: Oblivion, or Skyrim: Oblivion(and dlcs), or Fallout 4: Oblivion.
