Start the round with equipment heavily discounted in specific regions (ex. Arabic in the desert, Nordic in the north, horses in plains/steppe, and heavy armor near mountains) to jumpstart the action and add new strategic / roleplay elements.

I like the idea of that, but it might be a major pain in the ass to code that.

Maybe there's a way to do it with minimal effort that might work well with the Gamemasterâ„¢ concept.

We had a round that started with factions owning fiefs after voting. Using the same mechanic, give the Gamemasters control of all the fiefs and access to the map before the round starts. They're now the AI faction. They could move around the map and set the PP, gear, troop numbers etc in all the fiefs then control the AI rosters once the round starts. Fiefs could now have themes instead of random gear and roster issues.

Name in Strategus: Knute
Strategus Rounds Participated: 1,2,3,4,5,7
Affiliated Strategus Factions Current/Historical: The Free Peasants of Fisdnar,  Black Tea Bartering Brigade
Why you want to be on the council: Strategus has potential to be a better game, let's make it easier to play and get to the good parts
Example improvements you would suggest:
  • Start the round with equipment heavily discounted in specific regions (ex. Arabic in the desert, Nordic in the north, horses in plains/steppe, and heavy armor near mountains) to jumpstart the action and add new strategic / roleplay elements.
  • Make the inventory system easier to sort and see what you have.
  • Archive out-of-date information on the forum and make one official guide so it's easier for new players to get involved.
  • Restore the original map with all fiefs on the NA side to allow for more trade route options and opportunities for small factions to get a fief

i am LIVING for it

Not familiar with that drama but I get a stronger Kesh vibe than Heskey.

So you guys probably heard the rumours that we were in china for a year. It was an amazing and interesting experience.

However, it was a bit difficult to find enough and the right people for our crew there, so we decided to come back to europe to expand the team and finish here what we started.

This sounds like the plot to a Karate Kid movie. They move somewhere new, get beat up, hang out with Asians, come back home to face their enemies, 80's music.

If we delete strategus and totally wipe all past existence of it ( delete the strat forums too ) there will be bigger pops, less GTXting and more time to go back to our favorite past-time, the battle server.  The developers can all put all their time and effort into balancing the game so there won't be anymore whine threads, it's a win-win situation.

Let's face it, strat has been in beta for 10 years, that's longer than some crpg players have been alive. It's full release is way beyond the scope of OKAM and Bonerlord. It's time to pack it up.

I don't think Strategus is the problem but the idea of disconnecting the two is interesting.

cRPG was good when it had nightly battles and sieges with 150+ players of varying levels but it just doesn't work with a low population. Native is more fun right now because of the higher populations, no grind required and everyone starts each round without any advantage over another player. If the Strategus concept could be reconfigured, simplified, and connected to native game servers (with native gear / gold systems) it might be a better game than the current version connected to the corpse of cRPG. Sort of like a medieval version of Planetside 2 but minus microtransactions and any need to grind.

Join archibot in NA, I attack all with no discrimination.  I will help you take a village on the border (did they delete fisdnar?), and we can reap profits.

If you team up with Panos this could be your theme song:

Quite a few, probably before your time. I would be able to tell you but some scrub claimed the clan while i was away and deleted it.

I think the last time we took Fisdnar from Mercenaries (Apostates) there were 7 battles and it was defended by 7k troops on EU ping, so we had to throw away thousands of troops just to attack each time. Can't remember how many battles it took to take Fisdnar from 1% / PRO but at least 3 or maybe 4. Our rosters were a mix of EU people, Japanese troop farmers, Australians, and casual NA players going up against most of the highest ranked NA players at the time so that was probably the most glorious taking of Fisdnar.

Nice job, I might add a cool little round banner for Kwynn.

Though the tax ranges tingles my OCD a tiny bit, since yellow and red starts at 0 unlike green at 1 and therefor making it uneven. "Correct" would be 1-10, 11-20 and 21+.

Map updated with new locations, bandits, and banners. Let me know if different banners should be used. I used green for 1-9% since it's under double digits.

Diplomacy / Trade Map - NA and EU
« on: March 20, 2018, 01:21:51 am »
Update - May 18th, 2018: Both maps probably aren't accurate anymore, putting on hold for now.

--------------

Here's a simple map of where you can buy and sell goods without asking the owners on the NA and EU maps.

Yellow fiefs are places to buy, green fiefs are places to sell. The color of the fief name will show the tax level. Green is 1-9%, yellow 10-19%, and red is 20% plus.

Let me know if you want your fief added plus any items you have discounted and I'll link to the post in the OP. Your banner can be added too.

I remember you doing some a video of that campaign aswell - I have lost it but I remember that the Wolves were in it. Could u post it again?

Also, like allways GRANDMOM supports any claim made by the drunken peasants

Thank you and here's what I could find. They were going to be in the Tome of the Neckbeard: History of the Free Peasants but I got distracted by other projects.

Why is our banner used on NA strat ? Are we that evil ?

That's just laziness on my part. We took Fisdnar from a coalition (Apostates) that included Mercs a few years ago so I just reused the old cartoons to make this new one.

Strategus General Discussion / Re: Happy New year

Maybe a novel solution but:
- Fiefs all sell peasant gear and medium armour and all weapons, just like now, but not plate.
- Cities sell 'heavy' armour?

I like the idea of changing what types of gear are available in fiefs. Taking it a step further, what if it was possible to limit the type of gear available based on it's geographic map location or have certain gear start off the round already discounted?

For example: middle eastern style weapons and armor would only be available or start out discounted in the desert, nordic gear only available in the northern areas, heavy armor cheaper near mountains, cheaper horses in the steppe, etc.  It might add to both roleplay and strategic choices factions would have to make.
