Announcements / Re: 0.4.0.0 - The patch of destiny
« on: October 20, 2014, 07:13:56 am »

The 15 damage cap is going to be removed for HT/HX. Not sure if I can get the 20% damage reduction removed unfortunately.

Awesome!

About the 20% reduction, does this malus come on top of the 20% reduction which can be negated by points in Horse Archery? (Assuming the Game Mechanic Megathread is still up to date?)

The more I think about this extra 20% reduction to horse-ranged damage, the more I like it as a starting point.

I like the idea of reducing HR's overall damage, but increasing their speed bonus; Passive players who circle around a fight still eat the full weight of the nerfs, but manly men who lead glorious head on charges can earn the damage back.

(Full disclosure, I just got my throwing lance HT up to level so this post might be pure fanboy-ism).

I'm kinda disappointed that I calmly read this thread looking clarification  HT changes rather than shitposting in allcaps about how my alt's class is dead.

What's the point of the internet if you aren't raging?

A thread that is ONLY about pictures of heroes would be boring.

I'm glad you decided to branch out.

imo bring some realism to crpg like when they removed jump shot
and dont allow arrows blocking on Round Steel Buckler and Steel Buckler !!

Fine, but steel buckler nudges now do pierce damage that scales 1:1 with agility.

And you thought the rondel buckler days were bad!?!?

Enemy horses who come within 20 feet of a camel have a 15% chance to automatically CTRL-J rear in terror of the sandy beast.

If you tinker around a bit with the damage calculator, you'll see that higher STR/IF values modify armor weight penalties.

AAHH!!

This is awesome!!

Just so everyone is clear, when we did some internal restructuring and brought in new people, this meant that we actually created an Item team that would be dedicated to solely getting new items or mesh/texture improvements added. People in this position have the forum title "Item" in front of their name. So Item Advisor means he's on the Item Management team, while simply Advisor and Balancer mean you're on the Game Balance team (Notice Macropus and San no longer have the Item part).

With that being said, I think it's worth noting that at this point it seems silly to ever stop the recruitment process(even if you're not actively seeking them out), be they for the Item team, the Events team or even the Balance team. Just keep in mind though, if you're interested, showing initiative is generally the best way to get our attention.

If I'm reading this correctly (and I believe I am),

"m0d is dead, tydeus killed it" is out,

"m0d is dead, tydeus' team killed it" is in?

I'm hoping that the requirements get silly (30+ STR for plate n stuff) so that brawny walrus-men get unique 'rewards' for getting fat.

I'm also hoping that IF gets buffed so that players might consider building around it (rather than just using it as the junk pile for leftover points). I hope there's a real tradeoff between a 16 conversion 24/24 build (8 ath, 8ps, 7 wm @36) vs 10 conversion 21/24 one.

Mostly I'm excited to make throwing-lance torpedo-cav.

General Discussion / Re: Any point in manual blocking without macros?
« on: October 13, 2014, 05:35:55 am »
Well I guess I'll try.

Does manual blocking come naturally or do I have to be very tryhard to get it effectively? I can't play this game 24/7 because of real obligations, so. Can it work or what? Also how long did it take for you guys?

I find that holding a sideblock  is a great way to survive a clusterfuck group fight.

Holding left block (and using left/right turns to cover the right side as well) limits your opponent's attacks to either overhands or thrusts, and simplifies reactive blocking greatly (you only have to pay attention to 2 types of attack, instead of 4).

It's a band-aid, but it's an effective one.

Each map should spawn a random number of Discount Viscounts which can trick us to Miscount.

Your Calradia appears to have a slight case of apocalyptic reality failure.

There are "auctions" every so often for the rights to a custom banner slot. After you win one of these auctions, you will have the option of uploading your customized banner art (140x342 *.png) to this slot and using it for your clan.

The costs are prohibitively high for a single player (several hundreds of thousands of gold) so most custom banners go to clans, rather than individuals.

I suppose you you could unpack and modify one of the game's default banners and edit it to your hearts content (I've never tried this, but I don't see why it wouldn't work). Only you would see the custom art, but it wouldn't cost you anything.
