Greetings!

Our hard working Scene Managers are busy learning the ropes, and we still have more positions to fill, namely the Scene Reviewer position.

The new standard for submitting maps will be:

  • Mappers submits a Scene in the appropriate thread.
  • A Scene Reviewer responds that he has begun reviewing the map.
  • Looks over the map, if needed proposes changes to the mapper (this stage can go on for quite a while).
  • When the Reviewer and the Mapper are satisfied, the map gets approved and are sent to the Scene Managers for further implementation.

So what we are looking for are Mappers that feel they have the time and patience to take on this responsibility. You will get a new title and the eternal gratitude of the community (*cough*).
Some of these new changes may seem a little bureaucratic, but for the system to work we need to spread out the responsibilities and obligations, seeing how time consuming these things can be.

Apply in this thread if you are interested. We are mainly looking for experienced mappers, but anyone is free to apply.

Scene Editing / New Scene Managers
« on: July 19, 2013, 12:25:21 pm »
Our two new Scene Managers are Fips and Teeth.

They'll be cleaning up and learning the ropes, so hopefully you guys will start seeing changes in the near future.

So, I'm stepping down from Scene Editing and mapping in general. I'm busy with Melee and stuff, so I don't really have the time nor energy to give it the attention it deserves.
This leaves us in need of someone that feels he or she is up for the task of managing and updating maps and rotations, as well as taking care of the Scene Editing subforum.

Anyone thinking this could be their thing would need to be familiar with the module system and be able to take care of map related issues (in editor and in module system).

Responsibilities include:
-Reviewing new maps
-Adding and updating new maps to the module system (transitional period required, you'd start with handing the changes over to me or someone else for implementation)
-Updating rotations for EU and NA
-Updating threads in Scene Editing
-Searching for new maps outside of cRPG
-IRC availability is a must
-Obey Mustikki at any desires she might have

I'll still be around of course, to help out and oversee, and possibly smooth the transition period (if there is a need). If by chance we have an abundant amount of people applying who meet the standards, I'd have no problem adding several people as Scene Managers. Apply in this thread with a short summary of your skills and why you think you would be a good Scene Manger.

This is a tricky position and they honeymoon period will be over sooner rather than later. Know that you will never please everyone, and that this should never be your concern either.

Feel free to ask me any questions, be it here, a PM or on IRC.

The closed beta has opened (wat ), like CoH2 on facebook to get a beta key: https://www.facebook.com/companyofheroes/app_351292091639277

Everyone who played CoH1 will instantly know how to play, tho the mechanics are deeper and more thought out. Initially I was a bit put off on how similar it is to the original game and the expansions, but after playing it 10+ hours I find it to stand well on it's own feet. Not liking the whole reward system/ranking up at all, but the customization is nice.

The battles flow back and forth, and is a nice change of pace to say Starcraft (which I play regularly). Here you focus more about making the right decisions, like  flanking, what resources to hold, if to engage during a snow storm instead of fine tuning mechanics, refining builds and microing. All that is still important and in the game, but the focus is shifted away from base building to combat.

The battles are.. elegant and immersive, though they can be over brutally fast if you're outplayed (my personal favourite is luring several veteran units into pinned position then calling in all my artillery on them).

If you enjoy highly competitive strategy games, with more focus on combat than base building, less microing and more decision making, try it out.

General Discussion / Voting on Maps - QMU/D - Do it, do it now!
« on: April 24, 2012, 06:43:37 pm »
So, voting is fun, right?

If you press Q M U / D ingame, you can either upvote a map or downvote a map.

We have had this function for a long time now, but never really used it. We're going to try and use it more, to see which maps are liked, and which aren't. It will mainly serve as benchmark (looking over some previous weeks, about 6 maps showed 0 or positive votes, the rest was in various degrees of minus) but it might lead to other interesting things in the future (such as rotations based solely on it, for example).

I highly encourage players to vote on maps, especially if you like a map. It's easy to just downvote what you don't like and forget to upvote what you do like.

Each player gets 1 vote per map every 24 hours, positive or negative.

Happy voting!

So, for those of you that didn't notice, we got some nice new scene props added to cRPG! Thanks to Moeckerkalfie and his Moeckpack OSP [wooden fortifications]. There are a couple of more mound types that I didn't include (in the screens), but you get the gist of it.

Here are some pictures of the props:

And here are Some example of how they can be used:

Scene Editing / [Attention] MB Repsitory is moving!
« on: February 29, 2012, 02:17:32 pm »
Attention Mappers! As the title says, MB repository is moving to http://mountandblade.nexusmods.com/

Quote from: MBrepository
To better provide stable, fast downloads, and to provide better features overall, we have transferred all of our existing files over to a new M&B Nexus site. You're probably familiar with them for the Skyrim Nexus, Fallout Nexus, and so forth.

The Repository site will remain up for the foreseeable future with existing downloads still available, but everything new will be going on over at the new Nexus site.

In order to make the transfer as smooth as possible, new file uploads are now locked here at the Repository. Existing file listings will remain editable and can have new file versions uploaded. User accounts will not be transferred over, so if you have uploaded any files here you will need to claim your files on the Nexus site. Links are now available in the user panel to claim or hide your files, so if you've uploaded any files here you should head over there.

No rush, but make sure you 'move' your files over to MB Nexus. It's automagic and all you need to do is to register on the Nexus site, then follow the link on MBrepository.

MBrepository is dead, long live the Repository!
