Suggestions Corner / lower difficulty of low tier crossbows
« on: July 08, 2014, 12:43:30 am »
I don't see why low tier crossbows (hunting, light and normal xbow) should have such high difficulties, they were used for two reasons anyway:

1) for fun builds where you hit and run with a low tier xbow, extremely funny but I don't see why this deserved a nerf.
2) to have something to do during your first hours after retirement.

Thoughts? Maybe the normal xbow is fine with it's 12 difficulty, but the light xbow with 11 is quite stupid imo :/

EDIT: maybe some people might give HX as a reason, but I believe a balanced build is far better for horse ranged than a troll build.

Basically the title says it all. If this could be preset by the person managing the armoury and/or set by the borrower himself, this might save some people tons of money and also a ton of time for the manager who otherwise needs to manually check when a person was last online if he wants to clean up the armoury.

edit: the reason why I think this is so important is because I fear that we might be losing tons of new players by this because they join PU and come back after a week to have lost all their gold. I honestly really don't have time to take care of this manually.

Since have cav got 'crippled' recently, I thought it was a good moment to point out a funny problem with the horse on the crpg loading screen. You probably allready know what loading screen I'm talking about: the artwork from Kajia featuring a group of soldiers standing on top of a hill watching down at the enemies (who are not portrayed) coming closer to the top. A beautiful piece, but nonetheless my eye gets drawn to what's in the center of the drawing: A HALF DEAD/CRIPPLED HORSE!

Here is a close-up of the horse:

And here is how a healthy horse should look like:

I just had my ethnology exam a week ago; so with my very limited knowledge (I'm only in my first year lol), I drew a few lines that show how this horse as absolutely NOT faring well. It either is sick, crippled or deformed since birth.

The RED LINE follows the arch of the spine, as you can see it's obviously extremely concave, in dutch we call this 'karperrug' which basically the back looks like the back of a carper. In this case, the loin and the horizontal neck (see later) make up for the biggest part of the concave look. This usually means the horse suffers from a leg injury due to famine or too heavy work.

The YELLOW LINES follow the neck and the head, now this is an extremely obvious problem. Have you ever seen a horse with such a horizontal neck and his head so low to the ground? No, horses don't do this indeed, but donkeys do however! If a horse keeps his neck like this, this usually indicates lymphatism, sickness, weakness or a torn nuchal ligament (however in the last case, the head would even hang lower).

The GREEN LINES, show the stance of the hind legs. I don't even know what to make from this. I think that you would have to do a lot of damage before your horse would go stand like this. I would say it has more in common with a crippled rabbit than with a horse; or even a cow, goat or pig. It's as if he's about to stand up and start walking on two legs.

The BLUE LINES, show the stance of the front legs. This is probably the smallest of all the problems. Normally these legs should be almost perfectly parallel, while these are a bit too narrow in the shoulders and thus wider at the bottom. This puts more strain on the tendons and in this case indicates a too small chest cavity and underdevelloped shoulders.

Suggestions Corner / Couldn't halfswording use a buff?
« on: April 27, 2014, 09:28:06 am »
Hey,

Just tried out halfswording as a polearmer. I know it recently got buffed because it stops horses now, but I could only notice how it was still extremely bad.

What I suggest is that you fix the stab (I'm not an expert, but I guess that would be the main point of using this technique).
I thought about either adding even more dmg to the stab or adding some more reach.

Suggestions are welcome

EDIT: another problem is that you don't get an upkeep reduction as you need 2H wpf for that.

Suggestions Corner / remove repairs on dtv?
« on: February 19, 2014, 01:34:17 pm »
I would like to see repairs removed on dtv for these reason:

1) no more cheap gear leechers
2) everyone taking good gear means a better dtv experience for everyone, people will take out their best gear to play together!
3) I have never heard bots complain about high armour STR crutchers
4) suicide runners are actually easier to spot as they need multiple hits to go down (when using heavy gear to blend in)

just drop the gold gain a bit and make the waves a bit harder and there should be no problem with too massive gold gain, people will gain the same but will actually be trying hard to win instead of just trying to die as fast as possible in their lederhosen.

I mean come on, we are playing TOGETHER on dtv, this mode can only benefit from having teams full of glorious knights in heavy armor!
