I was just told to take a look at this. I would also like to see some proof of this as that is something that in no way should be done and if it was done I need to know who so it can be dealt with properly.

New reason to boycott community siege: they turned off banner balance due to whiners.  no reason to play there anymore. cya later

This is 100% inaccurate. We took off banner balance until noon today in order to get some comparative numbers. A suggestion that we thought was excellent with the influx of new players is to rotate days for banner/strict balance on siege. Leave battle1 as perma banner balance and use battle2 to cater to the newer players that are untagged that don't want to be pub stomped all day long and actually learn the game.

Get facts straight before qq time. I want to know what tabloid a lot of you are getting your super mega awesome information from because I want to subscribe to it.

*EDIT* Noon Central to clarify.

One thing that people have not taken into account is that the single most difficult aspect of doing admin work on any cRPG server is that EVERTHING is done publicly. Whichever admin has to make a decision at the time is immediately targeted and trolled to no end due to the simple fact there is as of yet no direct function in game t send a message to another player.

Yes you can send a forum message which is the system I have mainly been using but the response time to that is not the most efficient. So this coupled with players always feeling that they are ENTITILED to do whatever they want since they are not paying to play this game is leading us to some interesting experiences. With the influx of new players brought to the game especially through the recent Steam deal we garnered the Community servers will continue to be an area catering to veterans and newcomers alike for everyone to have a good time.

This sounds incredible and reminds me of that game Fantasy Earth Zero. If you do this the right way it will be a  massive success.

*Unlocked*

There are still discussion to go on, can't just lock the thread after you reply and don't want people to answer back.

Moderators have to submit to rules as well, we ain't Gods (I wish sometimes)

This is not an open forum for discussions like this. We are building an NACommunity Administration forum board for things of this purpose. If you have any questions I am available through Steam and answer PM's fairly quickly.

Taking an early lunch today and I'll make you both a deal. You find me one solid game admin team in the US that will let those names stand in any community/public setting and I'll rescind the decision in a heartbeat. I guarantee you will find 0.

No project I have helped setup or worked throughout has ever allowed this in the many years I have done admin work. As I said before it is nothing personal but the Community servers which are paid for by the public are going to have have a  ruleset which is respectable.

Still to this day 11 years after being in this business the mindset of people to think that every decision is a direct personal attack against them still boggles my mind. The most difficult part of me coming into this job and resetting the infrastructure is that it is not pay to play and for whatever reason every Tom, Dick, and Harry feel that they are entitled to have carte blanche on whatever they feel like doing just because they are in that setting.

The decisions that were made and the policies that are being put into place are there to foster the growth of a community and open it up. We did a mass petition to Steam to put Warband on sale guaranteeing them 100 copies sold. This was done 1 week ago to the day and we have already seen an influx of players to the game which is what everyone wants as they were kind enough to match a 23$ deal offered by direct2drive I believe it was. We hope to be able to mimic things like this in the future and are confident we can get it done.

Also another point that seems to be getting overlooked is that the NA Community servers are not the Official servers. It is a server group solely ran off of the good will donations and suggestions of those individuals that are interested in making the community grow and give an alternative playing area that are not Private organization servers where everything is sporadic. Community servers have admins from almost every organization within the cRPG community and they are helping me to come up with a uniform way to run this operation.

The main team working on the Community servers right now consists of 4 people. With what we are doing and trying to setup for the future it is a lot of work done on volunteer time and a massive amount of guess, test, and revise.

I hope this clears a few things up and I am more than willing to discuss just about anything via private message as this forum is really not meant to be used for this.

This is the last open air post I will make dealing with this subject matter.

Thanks,
Donk

Hes still not unbanned. All the talking of doing it and no one has made action. Great to see that the ban Goretooth gave him for kicking someone has stuck around for 2 months... lift it already.

1st off You are in no way directly affected by this. This forum is for those that DIRECTLY need to communicate with admins.

2ndly it has not been done yet because that name is not on any of the banlists that I can see for the Community servers which is something that has been a bit of a mystery and that we are working on figuring out.

I did ask twice if if you would be willing to leave and change your name before coming back to Community servers but I'm guessing you didn't see it.

Starfkr is not a good change option but once you get it handled to something suitable I will gladly unban you and you can play on the Community servers as normal.

It is nothing personal just a policy that is being followed.

Thanks!

Theres a difference between consistent and firm admining and powertripping no humor admins.  Admins that think every remark is a personal attack on them and threaten & intimidate the playerbase like its chocolate chip cookie german or something.  Good admins should be like an invisible hand.

Would be nice if this game was actually modernized like other FPS, so admins can WRITE in comments for a kick/ban without entering in some weird ass code.  Kick should also be your warning in most instances, not this 24/7 'warning state' like it currently exists.  The admins do more typing then playing.
« Last Edit: Today at 20:32:04 by Digglez »

This is one of the issues I am trying to address. It will be done by making sure all admins on the Community servers are on the same page as far as policy goes. I jsut ask for a little time while I try to get everything into place.

Hi Guys I was just told I was being called out here so I thought I would come take a gander.

I'll start by saying this. I took on this job at the request of Ecko last friday (8/19). Contrary to popular belief the Community servers are not "ATS" servers and this seems to be the most difficult part in getting people to understand. It is a group of servers ran on 100% donation with admins from just about every major organization in the game. Currently the whole project is put together and ran by 4 individuals so if something does not get immediately done it is because we are a little strapped for time.

Another thing to consider is that we are trying our best not to spam up the crpg page with Community server business as we are unofficial and it is rude and presumptuous in my mind to use this forum which chadz and crew have kindly given everyone to attempt to section it off. This is also something being worked on.

The idea is to make the servers playable and accessible to both crpg veterans and newcomers alike and in order to do that the first step is to rebuild the adminship infrastructure which is what we have been working on for the week. We have added a couple of admins and removed a couple of admins as well for trolling players and being general nuisances.

Currently the administration of the Community servers are working on a couple of projects to make communication easier and to update the Community ruleset in an easier to read format since the majority of players that play on those servers recently seem to not read the old list. One of these features we hope to get set up is a better notification system to let players know about events and what not that we will be hosting starting in the next month hopefully.

Now that being said as far as this whole public slander of Community servers goes. As a professional administrator and community organizer for several years there is absolutely no real reason for it. For whatever reason the main troublemakers in this instance have it in their minds that public outcry of being victimized by the big bad mean admins will somehow change a policy decision which will not happen.

As far as the personal attacks directed towards me that's fine. Everyone is allowed their opinions but I guarantee you check with those that have known me for any real amount of time or my actual professional references and you will hear nothing but good things about my fairness in both dealings with people and policy decisions.

I even went so far as to  ask around for the DL teamspeak so that I could speak directly to Mori since the forums were getting spammed/trolled pretty hard. After being on that server in a room with him and one other person for less than a minute it trying to once again explain what exactly was happening he just started yelling and cursing me out so I left. There is 0 requirement for myself or any admin not just in the Community sector but official as well to take verbal abuse in any scale.

So bite into the hype and spin that these guys are throwing around if you want but this is the only and last time I will make a defensive post on the crpg main boards.

Thanks folks,
Donk
