Events & Tournaments / cRPG Olympics!
« on: April 29, 2011, 06:56:43 am »
New Article from ( http://forum.c-rpg.net/index.php/topic,3847.0.html )

Come one, come all to the cRPG Olympics! You don't need to be able to block or feint to compete! We are looking for the fittest characters to participate in what will surely be the event of the season! We will be hosting many, many events over a period of time on one of the Fallen servers. Most events do not require a good ping, so both NA and EU players may participate! Or better yet, observe from one of our many comfortable solid granite bleachers!

Now that I have your attention, shit gets serious. I talked to Fallen_Ramses about using one of his servers for a time and he says it's fine as long as it's not on a Sunday. So it will probably be on a Saturday(s?) in mid-May. How the event is going to be organized is really up to the players. The system I've decided to use is someone who is interested in hosting an event will ask to be a marshal and post his event idea, etc. If I can, I will edit the Olympic Arena map I made earlier to include said event. The marshal of an event(s) is in charge of organizing a time and date. (Although some major events may be run by multiple marshals) We will help recruit players. The marshal will set the rules and observe the results, hopefully recording it (I plan to make a video montage when this is all over).

If you want to participate in one of the events, just post in this topic and we'll add you to the roster after the marshal's name. First come first serve and there may be participation limits. If you want to participate in a event that doesn't exist yet but don't want to marshal it, either I could or you could just wait for a marshal to pop up.

Closed Requests / (4/8/11) Permabanned from cRPG_NA
« on: April 09, 2011, 02:57:00 am »
I'm not exactly sure of the North America (HOSP/ATS) servers' policies for admin recruitment and execution. I do know that however, at around 7 o' clock central time, on the date of April 8th, 2011 I was banned without prior warning by Hospitaller_Havoc immedaitely after placing a construction site.

I haven't memorized the Hospitaller's server rules, though keep in mind I have read them. For the ATS' server, the following is stated upon entry:

"Admins: Welcome to NA CRPG. RULES: No FF/TKing. No Ladderpaulting. No douchebaggery. No Delaying Rounds. Do not force duels. Nominate maps to be removed on the forums!" [sic]

If the two servers have the same rules, which I believe they do, then nothing is explicitly stated against the idea of placing construction sites.

However I am sorry for placing that construction site. Considering I was perma'd for something that would normally constitute a warning, I hope my appeal will be considered.

Game Balance Discussion / AGI sucks.
« on: April 07, 2011, 03:32:49 am »
"AGI? What's that?" -Any experienced player
tl;dr - You can either be a track runner or a walking tank.

Strength Advantages:
- Using superior weapons / armor
- Essential skills (Powerstrike - For Melee, Powerdraw - For Archers)
- Modifier for blocking (vs. crushthrough)
- Bonus to base attack
- Modifier for crushthrough
- Can pierce heavier armor
- Health increase (w/ Ironflesh)
- Small WPF boost every skill up

Agility Advantages:
- Slight bonus to melee attack speed
- Faster strafing (w/ Athletics)
- Essential skill (Riding - For Horsemen)

As is made obvious here, AGI is at a serious disadvantage.
You need STR to get weapons that even allow you to function normally as a player. It's an essential skill. AGI however, is not an essential skill. It is just barely needed for horsemen (2 riding or more) and "recommended" because weapon master requires it. As horsemen become more and more rare due to the buffing of pike-related polearms and newly-introduced upkeep, the former "advantage" will diminish. A player can have a character with 30+ strength and function normally, if not better in melee (and ranged). However a player with minimal strength and maximum agility would find it hard to pierce the thinnest of armors and would be likely clad in paper-mache plate.

I just took a survey on the NA server as the round started. Although I doubt everyone that applied would have responded as some did, I tallied up a total of four characters (including mine) that had 6+ more Agility than Strength. Compared to the other 55 players on the server this is an insignificant amount.

So, it's not a question that AGI needs a small buff, it's the question of what to buff. I recommend a small bonus to ranged attacked speed (currently only choice of bow and wpf increased ranged speed) and a larger bonus to melee speed (but not significantly so). I would also appreciate it if AGI gave you WPF points to spend or at least had a similiar effect to single-player's weapon master skill (lowering cost of WPF).

Taking suggestions.

General Discussion / NA or EU? Who's better?
« on: April 05, 2011, 06:07:51 am »
So yeah...
      Flame away.

Also, EU players saying they have more skill is a lie. We have bigger battles with less
Blocking / feinting and more hacking and slashing

This is a secret poll. Results in two weeks.
Btw; not trolling

EDIT: 4/5/2011

Ow, my fucking finger. My german shepard bit it. Than I tripped -
- over the dog and got my finger caught in a closed door. Whoopee.
Anyways, summary of flames sofar:

NA  Advantages:
- More English Speakers
- More populated servers
- Consistency in skill
- Small squad tactics

EU Advantages:
- Larger player base
- Some very good players
- Large-scale tactics
- No adminging

Suggestions Corner / Suggestions for Suggestions

1. If you're posting about nerfing something, you must have a character Lv. 15+ that is proficient and uses that weapon actively.

2. If you're posting about potential code, IE: Horses taking damage from impacts, make sure it's POSSIBLE.

3. If you're posting about strategus, DON'T.

These three, easy steps can prevent
up to 50% of all derpes infections in
this subforum. It will also pretty much
clear out the suggestions forum.
Permanently.

It would be so much better than the point and click browser we have right now,

Suggestions Corner / Strategy in cRPG - Brigade Leaders?
« on: January 13, 2011, 07:06:25 am »
Today the Hospitallers made a shield wall.

Now, that might not sound quite impressive, but on the NA server it was a thing of beauty. Not even Derp's expert arrows could fell one soldier as they finally charged through well-placed barricades with little casualties.

Wouldn't we like to see stuff like that more often?

Yes, I realize we already have a "Brigade" system (If you didn't know that already), complete with Brigade orders, commanders and such.

However, I believe we can expand on these options for a much more teamwork-oriented experience that branches between guilds and clans.

First off, everyone would be automatically assigned to a brigade when they join, like mini "teams". The highest scoring members of the full team with be assigned as brigade leaders. They can issue orders to members of their brigade.

However, I also believe brigades may not be necessary at all. There could just be one supreme leader on each side, each one the highest scorer of said side.

On a side note, there should be a special poll option for "impeaching" leaders and replacing one with a specific person. There should be a cooldown for this poll, of course. We don't want noobs spamming it in desperate hope to become leader.
