General Discussion / Autobalance Test this Saturday

[G]oing to reschedule for next weekend, due to time overlap with the World Cup Final. It will be scheduled for this Saturday, July 19th at 2:00 PM (14:00 EST)/ 10:00 PM (22:00) GMT+2.

Autobalance test this Saturday(tomorrow), July 19th at 4:00 PM (16:00) ET / 10:00 PM (22:00) GMT+2.
Server: cRPG_Tyd_Testbed

We have to test by simulating a normal battle environment, so we need as many people as possible, for a good 30 minutes or so. I'll take screenshots of everyone that comes and hold a raffle for the Boulder on a Stick (has stats of a +3 Long Maul, can't be loomed, so don't transfer it to your STF.)

Scheduling / NA Event Server Bookings

After a time has been agreed upon by both teams, one team must make a post in the appropriate tournament's Booking thread listing the time [that's here]. Once the Booking thread has been updated by a tournament admin with your team's match schedule, that match is granted server priority. This means that during that time, the server now belongs to the two teams participating in the scheduled match (appropriate admin conduct still applies), and under no circumstances can anyone else claim ownership of the server. After a match has concluded, post the match results(screenshots included) in the appropriate tournament stage thread.



Please book the server at least 24 hours in advance (except for matches scheduled 7/18), using the server booking format below.
All times given are in Eastern Time (GMT-4), click the link for time zone information.
The server can be used for both tournament matches and casual/friendly matches however, tournament matches will have priority over scrims.

Tournament Rules


1. Tournament Format

The tournament uses the following format:
Step 1: Group stage
Step 2: Play-offs (Knockout Stage)
Step 3: The Grand Finals

Although the group stage will only consist of 16 teams, in the event that we receive an overwhelming number of team applications, the Group Stage will be postponed one to two weeks. During this time we will hold a round-robin style qualifiers tournament to decide the last two tournament positions (meaning the first 14 sign-ups won’t have to qualify).

With 22 teams signed up a round robin style qualifications tournament with 8 participants would take far too long. In the interest of time, We're going to eliminate the qualifiers round entirely. In the Group Stage, we'll have 6 teams in three groups and 5 teams for the last group, as opposed to the initial 4 in each.

1.4. Best-of-three (BO3) Match(Knockout Stage)
  • A best-of-three (BO3) match consists of two or three maps. A game(map) is played in two stages for 8 rounds total, 4 rounds per spawn, the map must always be restarted after a spawn switch. The winner of a game (map) is the first team who reaches a total of 5 rounds for that game (map). The remaining rounds will not be played after a team has won the map. If a game ends up in a tie, meaning that both teams have won 4 in-game rounds on the same map, a single tiebreaker round will be played with the current spawns (teams don't switch sides) to decide the game winner.
  • The winner of a BO3 is the team that wins a total of two games.
  • Teams are allowed a 5 minute break between each game. The break time is subject to change if the situation requires it.
  • Each team selects one of the maps from the Settings list and if a third is necessary, the map chosen will be the one outlined for the round, in the Knockout Stage fixtures thread.

Questions & Answers


Feel free to post your questions regarding the tournament and we will try to respond in a timely manner.

Q. Can a ranged guy spawn with stones, but just not use them, to essentially becoming a 4th melee guy?
A. No. To be counted as ranged, rather than another melee, you will need to have at least a requirement 1 PT/PD weapon or spawn with both a crossbow and bolts (of any type). Also, there is a maximum limit of only two crossbows allowed to be spawned per team, in any single round. All characters are able to loot any weapons they find.

Q. Construction sites allowed? Healing tents/ Equip boxes etc. Also siege shields and spikes?

A. No to C. Sites, Yes to Siege Shields and Spikes.

Q. Looms are Allowed and there are no weapon/armor/upkeep restrictions, right?
A. Correct, with the only exception being that Donkeys and Sumpter Horses are forbidden.

Q. You cannot make a replacement of a player unless the player you are replacing was listed on your original 5, correct?
A. No. If you need to replace a replacement, you can do so. Keep in mind though, you only get 3 replacements for the whole tournament and only members that have participated in 50% or more matches, will be eligible for tournament prizes.

Q. How are maps selected, or is it random? A little more clarification on how the scoring system works would be nice.
A. During the group stage I will be selecting the map for each round.

Q. Do 4 teams from each group advance into the tournament, or only the top 2 from each group?
A. The top 4 teams from each group will move on to the knockout stage (16 in total).

Q. When/Where are the round deadlines decided/found.
A. As we get closer to the start of a new round, deadlines will be updated. Deadlines for the Group Stage are found here and deadlines for the Knockout Stage will be posted here.

NA Melee Duel Tournament



Sign ups are hereby open and will close after 12 days (2014-06-20). There is no maximum number of participants!

Tournament will start on 21st of June, Saturday at 7:00 PM EST.

Rules



  • Map will be set on Arena
  • Duels will be in the Circle in the middle part of the map
  • STF Characters only
  • First to 5
  • Single elimination
  • No face hugging at the start of the duel
  • Melee weapons only
  • No horses are allowed
  • No knockdown weapons are allowed Knockdown weapons are now allowed
  • Maximum armor shop-value of 15,000 (no limit on weapons)
  • Participants must practice well mannered, good sportsmanship-like attitudes. This shouldn't need an explanation, so if you have to ask the question whether or not what you're saying is appropriate, don't say it at all.
  • Disrupting the Tournament in any way, including but not limited to; shooting a catapult, driving a siege tower into the duel area, being inside the duel area while not duling, will result in Tournament Disqualification as well as a ban.
  • Keep in mind, it is each individual's own responsibility to ensure that they are following the equipment and STF rules. If you are found to be over by even 1 gold, you are still breaking the rules and will be disqualified.

Roster signups for the first Official EU 5v5 & Duel Tournaments are now OPEN, with the NA side opening in one week. We want to give ample time for signups, so we'll be giving two weeks for the duel tournament and 1 month for the 5v5. Head over to the Events section to apply and check out further details for the EU or NA side, which will be updated shortly. Although this is cRPG, we decided that in the spirit of competition, we should restrict these tournaments to STF only and are therefore doing so.

We are of course, doing more than just tournaments. We’ll be holding casual, fun events periodically that anyone can participate in. Tuetensuppe has already prepared the first of these events, which will take place later this week on both EU and NA event servers. You can check the event's thread in the main Events section for more details.

Raffles

Events and Tournaments will each have their own, separate raffle pots. To obtain a ticket, all you need to do is participate in an event. For Official Events you get 1 event ticket for showing up, and 1 event ticket for staying till the end (Event hosts will take screenshots for record keeping). For Official Tournaments, you get 2 tournament tickets for being on a team that is participating, 2 tournament tickets for every match/session that you participate in (even if you’re just a substitute and don’t spawn in any of the rounds during a match), and 1 tournament ticket for every hour of a match/session that you spectate.

Tournament raffle drawings will be held at the end of each tournament and Event raffles will be held at the end of each month. Exact prizes will be decided upon at the time of the drawing, but will look something like the following:

Betting
Unfortunately, betting will have to be player managed as we do not currently have the means to organize this ourselves. If players have ideas or would like to manage them, feel free to post so here. It’s worth mentioning, that many admins (myself included) have access to marketplace logs, which can be used to verify whether or not any specific bookkeeper is operating appropriately.

Community Made Event Items
Recently we started talking about getting more Event Items added. We know there are a lot of OSPs we could likely get (Panos has made that clear, on several occasions) but I also know that we have a lot of talent within this community as well. While we’re still going to look at OSPs that we can use to add things here and there, I’d prefer to get player made items added. Perhaps we can give rewards, as well as the item itself, to any players who have items that get accepted. Autobus said he’d help out with a few things if the OSP stuff doesn’t work out, so we’ll certainly be getting more Event Items. For now though, we’ll have to go with what we have. This means the Crowned Helm, the return of the Boulder on a Stick and the Looney Toons Axe, as well as the items you’ve seen in the past, such as the Donkey Helm, Beer Mug, Santa Hat, etc.

See those? Those are the new dedicated, official, Tournament & Event servers. We’ll be using them in the very near future to host tournaments, events and even Leagues. That’s not chadztime™ either, it’ll be soon.

Many of us feel that, contrary to popular belief, this community can support (and even grow from) these types of events. Unfortunately, there are a few problems that keep these types of events from being successful, such as: the lack of organization and proper promotion, few participants or not enough teams, outdated servers, and finally subpar rewards. Fortunately though, we’ve identified the hindrances and believe they can be addressed.

With that in mind, as well as the recent success of Panos’ Duel Tournament, we felt that we should give such things the support they deserve. That is, providing official support, and not just the kind where you host a server and consider your job done. We know we need to get everyone involved and that it’s not good enough to just get people already in clans, and those who already consider themselves exceptionally skilled, but the average player as well. Because of this, we’re going further, much further, than just setting up the server and calling it a day.

Each tournament will have Heirloom Points, Gold and more as rewards. Since we realize we need people from all different skill levels participating, we’re not restricting rewards to just 1st-3rd place, and we’ll even be holding raffles for people spectating matches. Oh, and by “more”, I mean the real prizes. Winners will be rewarded with unique event items that can’t be bought from the shop. Right now we have the Crowned Helm as a unique reward, but we’ll also be giving each winner the opportunity to add their name to any item of their choosing, and we’ll likely also expand the pool of unique event items as things progress.

Bagge & I will be opening team registrations for the First Official EU cRPG Tournament sometime within the next week, and with an NA side beginning shortly after. Now, as with all my posts like this, it’s time to involve the community. The Event servers will have a separate admin team from the other official servers. Therefore, aside from requesting just your feedback, we’d also like anyone interested in becoming an Official Event/Tournament Admin, to use this thread to submit your application in the following format:

 Basic Guidelines for events:
 
  • Create your event’s main thread located inside the Events forum with the thread title formatted as seen below.
  • Check the Server Bookings thread to schedule a time for your event that won’t create conflicts with any other events (always expect your event to run longer than intended). Bookings are first come first serve and have to be updated manually, so read a few posts before yours to make sure someone else hasn’t already claimed that time.
  • Consider posting a thread in the General Discussion section advertising your event.
  • Take screenshots at the beginning and end of the event so raffle tickets can properly be assigned.
  • Players are suggested to use the Scheduling board to coordinate between teams to setup their match time.

Scheduling / Read Before Posting

This section is for the coordination and discussion of match schedules. Do not post tournament information here, keep that for the Events/Tournament section. Each thread title should adhere to the format outlined below. After a time has been agreed upon by both teams, one team must make a post in the appropriate tournament's Booking thread listing the time. Once the Booking thread has been updated by a tournament admin with your team's match schedule, that match is granted server priority. This means that during that time, the server now belongs to the two teams participating in the scheduled match (appropriate admin conduct still applies), and under no circumstances can anyone else claim ownership of the server. After a match has concluded, post the match results(screenshots included) in the appropriate tournament stage thread.
