Closed Requests / Cathaoir banned
« on: September 06, 2012, 12:20:45 pm »
Sit in seige tower and go get cigs, come back with a universal ban on all servers. Havn't been on in months but what's the new rule here that caused this? and when will this be over? I work nights and EU is the only server awake when i'm off.

Yeah, it's a very stupid stereotype, I wonder where the hell does it come from. School education maybe?

Just think about people who were either wealthy, or were priests, etc etc.

Not everyone was a mercenary/soldier, or had such an unhealthy life compared to the poorer classes.

Yeah in America we only learn about a month of Egypt, the 2 World Wars once or twice. But our own history repeats every single year, starting at the revolution.

Yes, its a very good series, like most Books from him.Still, Song of ice and fire is as good or eeven better in its own way.

Unfortuantely I cannot do magic for more then 10 seconds, so I have no idea how good or bad the author or book is.
I was just stating I perfer my adjetives to be about how deep the blood pit is in the shield wall, perferred to magic, blood-fued drama, etc etc.
That was for the politician religion-puppets in the halls and on royal courts.

Important thing to note about statistics concerning life expectancy in the middle ages:
Deaths in childbirth and at infancy will severely impact the statistics because of lack of adequate medical care back then. A commonly stated myth that is passed off as fact is based on this misinterpretation of statistics. ("people only lived to the age of 30 in the middle ages")  However, if you count the people that survived to adulthood (15 years), most will have lived to their 50s and 60s, sometimes even longer. Since everyone starts at age 16 we can basically assume that we all survived infancy. We can also assume that nobody dies in childbirth in cRPG. We can also remove warfare as a factor on life expectancy because everyone knows that nobody dies from being killed in cRPG. (they just respawn)

tl;dr basically what b3rs3rk said.

this is very true. its more like THEY expected to be dead at 30. Its kind of like cancer and aids nowadays, the statistics will show alot die, and it seems bad, but in reality people only normally know 1 or 2 diagnosesed with it out of the 100s that arent that they know.

If you got to the age of 21, the average was:
    1200-1300 A.D.: 43 years (to age 64)
1300-1400 A.D.: 24 years (to age 45) (due to the impact of the Black Death)
    1400-1500 A.D.: 48 years (to age 69)
    1500-1550 A.D.: 50 years (to age 71).

Gotta love Wikipedia.

This means, if we talking 1400-1500, 48(Equals lvl 33)isnt even that unrealistic. And I guess you could still have all your fighting capabilities, too.

damn this is better then I thought. I always assumed everyone was dead before 40

General Off Topic / Game of Thrones is close to good, but still to gay.

I had a girl who plays second life and watches glee tell me shes read all those,
the little short fights attempt to look good, but its 90% talking then mad dashes at each other are inbetween more talking.
I know, Its because im an emotion-less asshole, and that "talking" is actually a dramatic emotional appeal to human character im devoid of.

But In reality im sure alot of us are like that here,
and this is the book for us:
"The Last kingdom: Saxon Series" -Cowell

"Forward now. Forward to slaughter. Beware the man who LOVES battle. Ravn told me one man in three or perhaps four is a warrior, the rest reluctant fighters. But only one man in twenty was a lover of battle. Such men were the most dangerous, the most skillfull, and the ones who reaped the souls. The ones to fear"
(for every 3 guys at least 1 is addicted to a war game, every 20 on that game 1 is a legend like the many c-rpg has)

---COMBAT---
"(The sheild walls clashed, then it kicked in) It is a wondrous thing, that battle calm. The nerves go, the fear wings off into the void, all is clear like precious crystal and the enemy has no chance because he seems slow. I swept the shield left, taking the scar-faced man's spear thrust as I lunged wasp-sting foward and the Dane ran into her point. I felt the impact run up my arm as I punctured his stomach muscles, and I was already twisting. Ripping her up and free, Sawing through leather, skin, and guts, his blood warm on my cold hand. He screamed, ale breathe in my face and I punched him down with the shield boss, stamped down on his groin, and his finished him with wasp-stings tip through the neck."

The series is about the Danish (Viking) Invasion of England around 10th century. Everything in the background is accurate, but he creates everything around that. He started this series by creating a character (himself) in his families castle. Putting himself in real battles, and creating some when hes on his own with his war-band.

Again, its one of the more hardcore. So there is alot of detailed murdering of monks, vicious dismemberments.and raping of women
("Walking through (our city captured, in disguise) I could hear in almost every house the screaming of the women. I had to remind myself if this were a Danish settlement we'd be doing the same to their women to calm me.")

No,

the best mod would be spending hours doing mundane blocking and flanking maneuvers (all 2h, ranged)
block and charges for pike men, and hit pull back charge swing on shielders, till your a well rounded blade.

Isnt that why we are on warband to begin with?
if we wanted ego stroking we would be on WoW clicking one button for combat.

But the opposite of 9 warnings before a perma is admins ban-hammering every single minor offensive like a facist empire.

have to find a balance.
I like the 3 strike system,
its based from baseball, which is based from w.e sport we stole that from,
and is used even today in the U.S. judicial system for criminal offenses,
3rd strike being life, here being perma.

Suggestions Corner / Re: Constant Nerfing and Buffing needs to STOP
« on: January 19, 2012, 02:31:55 pm »
Nerf and buff as fast as possible.
Being a 2 hander it almost never effects me in any way shape or form.

But from an occasional maul user nerf the hp damage from overhead breakthroughs,
skilled people will still be able to spam enough to get unstopped kills, and if you take an overhead 3 times in a row you have nobody to blaim but yourself.
