How in Christ's name do you even play?!? I am easily 120fps solid in even the largest of strat battles....and I'm still terrible :mad:
My FPS isn't pretty either. I'm thinking about getting a cooling pad for my laptop and see if that helps with FPS drops, its annoying when you see a group of enemies coming and you all start skipping around.

Now I don't feel bad about ducking out of that battle. Do no-shows typically happen a lot?
Just expect the higher the troop count, the more chances that there will be a fight. If you see someone getting attacked with 0 or 1 troops, the person probably won't recruit people / doesn't know they've been attacked / doesn't care. I'm not 100% sure but if you only have <50 troops you can only higher the same amount of people as you have troops.

Yup, sold it for 575,000 gold. Thank you for the help Bronto! Had to undercut the others for a quick sell. :) Also, bought myself my first "upgraded" weapon. Bought a 1h eslavona. For the way future builds might go, and for my archer build now, it's a suitable back up weapon. Don't think I'll buy an upgraded bow anytime soon, as I don't know what I'm going to do after this build.
GOOD CHOICE! anyway, if you like archery you should loom your arrows first! i say this because you have no idea what bow you are going to like the best and it would be a shame to loom/buy one that you find out you hate. now arrows on the other hand are used with all bows and are a fairly sought after item, especially loomed ones for people that play strat. good job on the loom sale and i'm glad i could help you out. when i get back we're going to have to download you the heirloom texture pack so you can SEE how awesome heirloomed weapons look!

Battle today was hilarious! We had fun but got shot up by fallen archers! It was like they had machine guns. All we could do was spawn and get gunned down.

Bros, I'm loaning 55k rich, not 400k :( For that you're on your own! A little advice Ethgar, sell that point and buy either MW Arrows or a Bow. If you buy the bow it won't matter if your arrows are loomed or not and vice versa for the arrows!
I'm using +1 bodkins and a regular yumi right now and loving it! of course this allows me to carry a MW Long Espada as a side arm which probably helps the kdr!
It's a tough call, but bodkin are probably the best for damage, for quantity go with Barbed.

Man, I might go into a ranged-dominant build next gen. I've never done it, so I can't properly say whether or not it would be fun for me. Maybe an arb/heavy x-bow with sufficient stats and wpf to fight in melee with 1h or maybe even 2h using the eggbeater mace.

Because I'd like to get more involved with cRPG in a semi-casual group because the game is fun at least about 35% of the time when it doesn't feel absolutely obnoxious. Also, Sandy is here and says you're alright people.
Currently Daruvian (my in-game character) is a nonviable combination of cavalry, crossbow, and 2h. My more-often played STF "BigUncleRuckus" is 1h/throwing cav. Yes, I have a liking for moderately eccentric, ineffective builds. If need be I will actually spec into something effective.
My main is generation one because I am a casual scrub babby.

I think xbow hybrids are the way to go for the average foot-soldier. There's a very large problem with good horsemen coming up behind and picking one or two folks off, and the smart horsemen aren't going to let you melee their mount down. Crossbows are a good counter to that, and firing periodically at an advancing enemy is much better than just sitting there waiting to whack them. Doesn't take much build alteration either, but if you want to put a large amount of wpf into xbow you can, it's just a bit rough if you want to go strength-dominant, since there is not much wpf to go around. 18/21 should be okay, I went 15/24 and liked it alright.
15/24 awlpike + crossbow sounds like it could be fun.

I'd like to start getting our stuff together, and the more of us that can be on for a little bowling session in TS the better I believe. Mondays are the easiest time for me to make it when Bronto is on. I'd like to be able to make it when all of us can be on, well at least the major Strat players. :)
Here's my kind of list of things I'm curious about.
1. Recruiting (We need moar peeps!! :D )
6. Specializations. I know we all are good at certain things, but are we still going for the be what you want to be, or are we going to want to be more organized "battle ready" this time around? (i.e. Dedicated archers, supports, 1h/shielders, etc....) Basically are you going to want certain people doing things so during strat battles, we can stick together to better perform for the side we're on? And if so, we need to start practicing together more. Maybe set up times in the afternoons for everyone to try to be on together, so we can get the majority of us on at the same time. I've always experienced that in games like this, as I've played a lot of FPS (battlefield 2, 2142, bf3, etc......) The more you gamed with people and learned their styles of play, you can easily give each other pointers, but you also tend to build a greater chemistry in the game. I'm not saying go hardcore on it, but I know myself would do better given the chance to game with everyone as a group. There's only so much you can do when playing crpg, and having the teams run in different directions cause they are focused on their K/D ratio's for that valour.
So here's my thoughts on two of those things. Firstly, recruiting. I'm doing my damndest. Every person that has posted in the "clan search" thread in the past month has gotten a PM from me with all kinds of attractive info on us. So far I haven't had one of them message me back. So it goes. Trying to scope out people in the battle server as well.
Kay, so the other thing. Here's my thinking. In the battle server, it matters only that we're together and have eachothers backs. Certainly it would be cool to write on paper the number of individual classes that we need; but I do not think it is practical. For example, for a 5-man infantry outfit, I think that a single dedicated archer or arbalestier, two hybrid ranged users with strong melee focus, and two dedicated melee users is ideal. If we get that in game, we'll fucking dominate, sure. However, getting many, many people online at once is tricky as all get out. Encouraging and formulating builds for people is one thing, but we're certainly not the group that MAKES people do just about anything. As long as someone is a useful fighter, that's good enough for me.
Also; in strategus I am thinking there should be a clear or semi-clear order of folks that should be either
a)leading the entire shebang
b)leading divisions of folks (cav, infantry, archers, shields, etc etc etc)
c)POSSIBLY leading squads of hand-picked folks. Biggest obstacle here is EVERYONE being in teamspeak with voice discipline or this is out the window.
The folks that should be leading shit should both be competent at the game, and have a solid understand of both battlefield tactics and specific strategus tactics.

I wasn't trying to imply that's what we should do, more so just suggestions sandy. I'm not trying to say you be this, etc...........but as a group your right, we should have a well armed group like that.

Really, I think I'd really love a group that heavily suggested classes and such. I really like what NH has done with their thread, posting a bunch of builds that they use. I think that's rad. I might get working on some shit like that. But at the same time, our attitude and vibe does not exactly mesh well with extreme organization and rigidity. Nor should it.
Alternatively, we can say fuck it, and become raider-merc nomads. Like we all get to, and start in one town, then go out raiding, and meet back up in another designated town. Kinda like nomads where we just keep moving from one designated place to another like every week. We'll offer our services to the highest bidders regardless of who they are. I think this could be fun as we'll never have to worry about defending one location and this is a niche where we can carve out a name for ourselves.

Hey Ethgar, no worries man. I can assure you that the songs chosen are the pinnacle of hardcore music. I had to acclimate myself to the genre myself over a couple years. Everything in the fiefs start out at -2. The owners have to use points to upgrade certain items, which people can in turn buy. We've had closed borders since the first week or so of strat when people's S&D started "disappearing" from strat. You probably should've asked us or Dex before you came through and took all of our S&D points. Even if our borders were open, it would be unacceptable for anyone to take the amount that we are now missing. As for bowling, you can do it from EU lands with the heads of your fallen comrades!

I know in the last strat, you just bought goods and sold them at a profit after transporting them far distances. I don't really know how they work this time around.

Pretty much what BlackSteve said, we've been slaying fools together. You have three attacks you can do, overhead (also uppercut with certain weapons), stab and then your typical swinging wild, but you can decapitate people, hack off legs or arms and change classes at any point in the game. Basically there is a ranged guy, vanguard, and knight to choose from with different weapons combos to equip. you can carry three weapons, your main, secondary and then usually a throwing weapon or shield. Your weapons have a kill based improvement system, so the more you use a particular weapon the more different weapons in that class become available. For example, I was using a little hammer as a knight, now i've unlocked a two handed maul and in about 50 more kills i'll unlock a two handed bludgeon of some sort, i'm not sure what it is yet. there are various game modes, like free for all (basically dueling except you can kill everyone without initiating a duel), team objective (which is probably my favorite), team deathmatch (basically crpg battle) and a few others. It's a good break from Crpg, because it's just fast paced combat and would be great to have other people to team work with. For only 25 bucks, i'd recommend grabbing it if you have the extra cash. Also, i take my position in our clan very seriously and i'm always down to teamwork some servers with any of you. I'm trying to grind to 31 and then see if I want to keep going and just play on alts. Fcc moved in to take the fiefs because we did not Want anyone else to move in on our trade lanes. We only took the sd from burglen. Shik took it from chide. Somehow he just happened to be on your doorstep with A 990 man heavily armed army. He grabbed chide sd... We read the forums and beat him to burglen... He was headed for it till we got in. conspiracy maybe.. but he was in perfect position with a large heavily armed troops with enough cash for upkeep and extra to buy 4500 sd out of chide and was heading for the 7000 of burglen. We are right next to you so easy to get there fast when we saw what was happening. Hero party on other side of the map. If you guys get it back together give a yell. We will help make it right. But I think you need to understand that YES, doing strat action for someone else because they are busy in real life IS what got you ban. No it's not less worse than having 2 account for one person. It's still cheating...

I hope you guys get unbanned since we never got a chance to fight our war. Assuming what you guys say is true, it sounds like a pretty minor violation compared to the shit that the Greys did. First, i think it is less of an offense than having two accounts. We weren't EXPLOITING anything, we weren't mass producing weapons, goods, troops, gear, etc. that someone with two accounts would. Second, none of us knew it was cheating, we didn't play strat during the atrocities of the greys, and only started playing at the end of strat 3. If you are a clan leader, i think that part of that is helping people understand strat and helping them if they are in a jam is part of your duty; it's just a shame that the community does not. Here is what Cheat actually means and we didn't violate any of this. You're going to say "oh look at 1b" and i'm going to say look at our global ban post when we found out we were banned. none of us knew of a violation and were forthcoming with the information to help clarify the situation. GG.

Yeah, I got hit as well. I'm a full-time college student that has a 50 mile drive each way to university. I oftentimes just can't log into strat when I am needed to do something. Basically, what happens is this. I get home quite late at night from my classes, and oftentimes I am not home in time to stop myself from going somewhere dangerous or silly, or I get stuck on the map, or I need to make a small move that I'm not around for. That's it. I'm not an afk troop-farming machine. If you look at our strat faction's resources, we'd have a HELL of a lot more if we were abusing multi-accounting.

All unban requests have been reviewed and the people who not only told the truth but also did not try to intentionally hide their multiaccouting/account sharing and did it only a few times have been unbanned from cRPG.
They are still banned from strategus with unban dates depending on what they did.
We informed everyone who got unbanned via PMs.
Everyone who did not get a PM by now will stay banned permanently (most of the people).

On a side note, let's assume for now this isn't a perma ban, as far as I can tell there is only a few active members left (Daruvian, Arthenon, and myself). I'll either be 18/24 or 18/21. I don't do Strength heavy classes. It's either balanced (18/18) or higher agility.
You should just keep going through the levels on your main since you like 2h, and that way when you hit 32, you'll get a few more looms, or go another level above that and get even more looms.
How much extra looms do I get if I retire at 32? I've already got 3 loom points that I don't know what to do with.
I've gotten infinitely more valours as a hoplite than any other build I've used. But I don't care. Seriously thinking of a pure archer next gen that tries to run around with the infantry and get close-range headshots and cav-kills. By the last couple pages of posts here we might be turning into a ranged faction. For the lulz!

Basically, no. You're almost always better off putting troops into garrison unless you're going to spread them out among many field armies. Here's a neat spreadsheet (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AndZsiPEJtczdFRuQjBQbHJUZ2twV1RjTHB6YmRhc1E#gid=5) having to do with troop upkeep. Most field armies start to become inefficient after 500 troops or so.

I've got a pretty solid 15/24 1h xbow build going. It's really two completely different playstyles in one character. Super fast annoying swashbuckler and super fast annoying sniper.

Beam's handling of Old Crow was not one of them.
Old Grand Dad was meticulously kept as close to the original N.D. product as possible, while gently and slowly melding into Beam-produced bourbon. Even today, it tastes very recognizably like it's predesessor.
Old Taylor, as well, if somewhat less so.
Old Crow, on the other hand, was purposefully destroyed, with malice and forthought. It became a 3-year-old abomination hardly fit for even the bottom shelf of any self-respecting liquor store, and certainly not a product that would appear on the back-bar of any decent establishment. And thus did Jim Beam White Label "become" America's leading brand of bourbon whiskey. Perhaps not a "crime" in the legal sense; maybe more an act of vengeance.

You could try 15/24 and go for 8 wm. Then have 150 xbow and 110 in 1h, but your build looks pretty solid. STF both and go with what you like. In either build pick a fast 1h weapon.

So I just picked up a bike frame and back wheel from a dude on Craigslist last night for 50 bucks. It's a single speed with a coaster brake (which I'll have to get used to). My first night in Europe:
The ocean is beautiful. I can smell the salt on the breeze as I slowly make my way through a serene forest. I can hear the rush of what I believe to be a river near by, but I have yet to see it. Maybe I'll see it when I am clear of the forest that surrounds me.

These forests don't seem to end. As soon as I break free of one, another comes into view. As I thought, there was a river by. Luckily I'm using this to find my way east towards my home lands. I'm still many hours away, but that will seem like nothing when I reach my final destination.

The green of the plains grows less fresh and more dry every hour that passes. The breeze holds a warmth that is uncomfortable and sandy at the same time. In the distance, I see mounds of sand taller than the highest castle tower. Hopefully I've brought enough water for my army and horses...

You could probably trade that for a MW 2H sword of some sort or 2 LPs and more gold and get a MW 2H sword you want. After spending way too much time in this mod, I've decided to move on. Maybe I'll check back in occasionally to see how everyone's doing or I'll see you all in some other game. Becoming an admin was a blessing and a curse. Canary, I now understand why you haven't been around. There is no unification at all, and no camaraderie anymore, which is what made this game appealing to me in the first place. I've literally watched my friends quit this mod one by one, and probably should've left a long time ago when most of you did. Oh well.
