starsector is really damn neat in 2019. fractalsoftworks.com and no i'm not paid to shill

basically 2d space mount and blade in space with as much or more autistic customization and micro-management. still in development but the modding community is really going ham on it.

I haven't seen good ones either, but here's my list of singleplayer games or games with great roleplaying elements.

Mass Effect 1
Mass Effect 2
Dragon Age: Origins
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 1
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords (with restored content mod available on steam)
Star Wars: Republic Commando
Star Wars The Old Republic MMO, I recently just returned to this along with a lot of other people, and the main stories are actually really good, play the game like an online rpg rather than an mmo.

I'd add to the list the bioshock series, as well as fallout new vegas, you can play fo3 if you want something similar but a bit worse (according to the majority), or you can play fo4 which has better mechanics and more mods, yet has more plotholes than GoT.
