Dirt Rally or Yay! Colin McRae Rally is finally back!

First off, I tried all of the Dirt games after Colin McRae (got them as deals cheap, as in 5€ cheap) and I hated them.
Gymkana is for retards and Hollywood, Rallycross is XGames bullcrap and the few real Rally stages were barely solid.

BUT (!) now there is Dirt Rally and while all the fans of the former Dirt games are disappointed, the old people like me who loved Colin McRae Rally celebrate big time.
I haven't played it myself yet. Merely repeating the majority of opinions on the internet...

I am sooo happy! Can't wait to get hands on it. Finally there seems to be a good Rally game once more!

Drifting in circles through some industry park, mainly around some barrels and underneath some Caterpillar machine... completely stupid.

Thought the first 2 dirt were considered good by both critics and players :/

• The interior sound design has some nice effects, I'm sick of the bassy bullshit in other games
• Physics seem quite "rigid", maybe it's the perspective but the car seem to react too fast to the inputs, like it has more grip than it should

There is a bonet camera, a semi-cockpit and a full cockpit view beside the 3rd person cameras.
The physics are getting high praise by a lot of players. Some say tho that works best on gravel/sand, still has too much grip on tarmac tho. Ice seems to be a problem too. But overall they all agree that it's on a very good way.
Also, keep in mind that the video shows one of the best rally cars every built. Driving the older cars especially, there is way less grip and/or a big difference in reactions to drivers input (no power steering has a huge impact on that for example).

And it's still Early Access. That's why I am very hesitant in actually picking this up. I guess I rather wait for the full release and some reviews. But I have really high hopes cuz atm it seems that they don't cater too much to the Gymkana-Dirt-crowd but instead listen rather to the sim-heavy folks.

According to passionate driving sims enthusiast, physics in Dirt Rally is garbage. Only slightly better than other Codemasters games. But since I don't have a driving wheel, I'll be fine with Colin McRae 2005 like physics. Anything more demanding requires wheel and I'm planning to race using gamepad.

3P camera in rally games is for skrubs anyway, 1P cockpit view all the way. I've been longing for a good rally game, but the car really did seem very responsive from the video.

Honestly since I bought a proper wheel (G27) I do not even think about playing a racing game on anything else. You seem to be seriously into racing games so I think that would be a worthwhile investment.

If you are old Colins vet you will like WRC 4. Cars in realistic classes ( Junior WRC, WRC, WRC 2, WRC 3 ) and all countries from 2013 season.

If this is true then that's great. I picked up the Dirt games and was very disappointed in that they weren't more like the rally games of old.
