Battletoads was one of the most brutal games on NES...I don't think we ever got past the 3rd or 4th level.  It's easy now on emulator when you can save whenever you want.

I had it for sega, but the level where you ride the jetski bikes is actually impossible to beat without using a continue since one of the jumps requires both players to occupy the same space.
