Suggestions Corner / New game mode: Hardcore

New game mode: Hardcore

Hardcore would require:
1. New game mode(s): Hardcore battle / Hardcore FFA
2. It's own server(s): Hardcore battle / Hardcore FFA
3. New character type(s): Hardcore

XP
  • XP based on 1000 (base) + points *100 * multiplier each tick (100 can/should be tweaked)
  • Each death leads to XP loss equivalent to 5% of total XP (5% can/should be tweaked)
  • If you die but get valour you don't lose XP

Gold
  • Upkeep as usual
  • Gold earned as usual but points earned should increase the gold income to encourage an active/aggressive playstyle.

Other
  • No maximum level, no retiring (no character generations)
  • No transfers of gold or items to or away from a hardcore character
  • Marketplace and auction not available to hardcore characters
  • No heirloomed items
  • No proximity points; to prevent players (shielders specially) from just staying alive near combat
  • Maybe add the possibility to get someone's item(s) upon killing him/her. This goes both ways so if you die you might lose something.

This game mode would result in good players constantly being higher level than bad players, which makes it a very competetive game mode.
But I still think it would be enjoyable for everyone no matter skill level as you would also compete against yourself to get higher level.
I'm sure there would be room for trolling for those who enjoy that.

I'm confident this can be achievable.

We all love teamplay, don't we? The problem is the lack of it.

This idea, if implemented, will not solve this problem but it will increase teamplay to some extent.

Just like you get get extra points (score) for being near a fight I suggest you get extra experience from being near to a teamate holding a banner.
So on each regular XP tick some players (the ones "teamplaying") gets extra experience.

To get extra XP you must be within, say 20 meters radius from a banner at the moment of the tick.
To prevent people going off on their own with a banner trying to get extra XP there must be a minimum amount of players around the banner carrier, for example 10 players.
Being within 2 or more banners won't give you twice as much extra xp.

There won't be just one banner/flag but several.
So if people want to flank they can still take a banner.

The major problem has always been the amount of ranged and cavalry.
Besides from the team balancing which can't be fixed to work differently if I remember correctly.

The solution would be to limit the the amount of ranged and cavalry somehow.
One way to do this is to compare the individual score of each player with the average (just like with valour), except that it would be compared with those of the same class.

Example - 50% decrease in archers, crossbowmen and cavalry from round 2:

To keep your horse, you need to perform better than the average cavalry player at round 1.
To keep your bow, you need to perform better than the average archer at round 1.
To keep the crossbow, you need to perform better than the average crossbowmen at round 1.

Anyone joining the server at round 2 or later can't spawn with a bow, crossbow or horse.
To play with a bow, crossbow or horse from round 2 and onward you would need to come out on the top of all players score wise within your class at round 1.


The restriction of a certain weapon type could be done seperately and at different percentages.
In my example archers, crossbowmen and cavalry where all set at 50%. It could be set higher or lower.

1H cav is something I've never been able to play as it lags (slides) 50% of the time when I hit soemone with the sword from horseback.
I have no issues with performance otherwise.

Does anyone know a solution to this problem?

This has been suggested hundreds of times but I can't remember any developer saying it can't be done.
There must be something you can do about it. It's not like it can get any worse than it is now.

These are the current shields with 0 requirement.
Maybe it's just me but I feel kind of restricted with just having 5(2) shields to choose from.

I don't see how a few more shields that are easy to break would unbalance the game.

Suggestions Corner / Make shield skill both strength and agility based

Why?

Because it would balance the game.
It also makes much sense that a stronger warrior can carry a heavier shield.

It would be nice to see full strength slow 1H/shield tincans with 10 shield skill.
There are too many high agility shielders out there imo.

Wouldn't it be nice if you could see the dueling points of other players ingame?

Right now you can end up receiving 1 point after another or suddenly lose 20 points.
That is not very fun so this would fix that.

The scores can either be displayed in the scoreboard or in the game itself if you go near someone.
Just like the "Duel" text does. Just show the score below it.

EDIT: This would only be implemented on EU_3 and NA_3 of course.

General Discussion / Lack of low populated battle servers

There used to be pecores, nordmen, eu4 and the melee server.

Now it's just EU1 and night time only EU4 (which is not fun to play on).
Is it just me or is anyone else missing the old times when there where more servers people played on?

I would like to see a battle server where it is always sunlight (day time without any weather effects).

Some players say they like night time, rain and fog but the majority doesn't.
So why not have a sunlight only server?

For me, night time is the single most annoying thing in crpg.
Night time crpg is a completely different game from sunny crpg.

I hate it so much I need to wait for good weather before I can play again.

Pay & play (crpg gold) - not real money

- Battle mode
- Siege mode
- No banner balance (to avoid many players from same clan to join and just win every round)

- Each round costs 10.000 gold (those who don't have it get kicked).
- The team who wins get all gold shared evenly among all players (after a 5% tax which goes to... chadz).

This is just the basic idea.
It can be further developed into something really fun I think.

It might even improve the teamplay.

I don't have anything against running archers. That's how they should play if they can (have the athletics).
The stupid ones are those melee guys who ends up dying after they failed to catch an archer they were chasing and then complain about running archers on the forums.

Something else that annoys me is archers who have the athletics but get convinced to duel some melee guy late round and lose.
This melee "hero" obviously have the upper hand and the archer usually loses. Stop that. Just run and shot him and enjoy the gratitude of your teamates for not losing the round instead of the opposite.
The melee guy deserves it for not having a shield or more running speed than you. Also, if he had played the round differently he would not have ended up in a bad situation like that.
He could have prioritized killing ranged earlier in the round but he kept on going for easy kills to boost his score.


What about playing as an archer with 0 athletics?

Then you can get one of the following instead of ~7 athletics (15/21 build, 18/21 build, 21/21 build):
- 3 STR and 1 PD
- 3 AGI and 1 WM
- Max out PS

But it's very hard to team up with players or even keep up with the main group with only 0 athletics.
7 athletics is truly "easy mode" for an archer as you can play around with anyone. Look at ROBINHOOD for example.

Has anyone successfully played archer without athletics?

I cant think of any archer with low running speed. The most successful ones have maxed out athletics.

However I wanted to give 0 athletic arhery a chance.
Is it possible or hopeless?
