How specifically do horses affect movement speed?

Anyone have the formulas for how horses affect movement speed?  I have noticed that if I have 1000 troops (at 0 weight) and 1000 horses and 1000 goods I move at the same speed as if I have 0 goods.  But I've also noticed that if I have something like 700 of one good type, and 700 of another good type, I still move at the same speed, but if I had 1400 of one good type, I'd be moving at a much slower speed.

Can anyone break down how horses specifically affect troop movements without me resorting to this formula:

Basics:
To get Speed bonus: You need MORE horses than TROOPS or  Goods.(Crates?)
To go normal speed: If you have horses<either, then you must have more troops than goods(Crates?).
Go slower: If you have goods(crates?)> than either troops or horses

There's also a stacking malus on goods. The more of 1 good type you have, the more "crates" that will be.(to prevent people carrying 1000000 of same good) If you have multiple goods of the same amount, they do not negatively increase crates beyond minimal number.(basically don't carry huge quantities of goods around, carry large amounts of multiple goods)

Anders do you need more horses than both troops and goods to get the speed bonus?  I think that is the way it is because I had 500 troops, 350 horses, and 67 crates but I was not getting a speed bonus.

Yeah I know for sure to get a speed bonus you need at least as many horses as troops.

I do not remember the specifics, probably Vovka can develop a bit what he said?

But, it should be near that: 1 horse can transport 1 troop + 1 crate at good speed.
So if you have say, 300 horses, you can transport 300 troops AND 300 crates, or you can transport only 300 troops, or only 300 crates (and 1 troop, say). But as soon as you have more crates and/or troops than horses, you will start to slow down.

If you have less than what you need, you slow down fast; if you have more you speed up a little bit but there is a near max limit.
Also a party of 1 troop + 1 horse will go much faster than a party of 10 000 troops and 10 000 horses. A troop has a weight that the horses only help reduce the speed malus, it adds up the bigger your army get.

So the real question is: how exactly are crates calculated?

1.5 goods = 1 crate. Afaik, might be different if you have a number of different goods, but I think its that simple.
Also troop's items that arent worn (one troop can only wear a maximum of 1 armor type and 4 slots of weapons/etc, like IG) are added to the cargo and subsequently goes into crates, not sure how items are converted into crates.
