Out of sincere curiosity, how many people actually played in this tournament (minus my phoned-in backup performance)? Anyone got the numbers?

46 total participants played in at least one match. That's still pretty good to be honest. Oh, and if anyone is curious, 7 of the top 8 players (those that reached quarter finals) were Polearm users, only one (the least favored of the 8) was 2h. Bit odd, no?

Well thats not so bad after all.

The polearm bit doesn't surprise me at all though. I've thought for quite some time that polearm is the elite class, especially after the attribute changes a few months ago. I think 2h legitimately may have been the strongest class when I started nearly two years ago. Now I have no doubt at all ftom watching NA1.

I think a lot of people chose polearm just because duels took place in an open field with basically limitless s-key.  Put people in an enclosure and you'll see a lot more 1h and 2h.  Most of the good 2h (Allers, Firebus, Oodle) and some other decent 2h were DQ'd early, too.

Polearm isn't stronger than 2h, it's just that only like 8 people in NA know how to play 2h anymore.

now get us one of those forum news headlines for our NA champion tydeus

please

It would be cool if we had more media or promotion related to this, doesn't anyone agree? Anything to enhance the recognition the players feel for winning will go much further to improving attendance and sign-ups than just saying "ill give u a loom point if u win ok?" Not that I'm ragging on the rewards here, they were pretty cool. Really I think you could use a small Events team. Maybe you already have one, but I haven't seen them.

I would love to see a better prepared tournament, with the Arena map and more participants to make it more interesting. Also maybe change it up and make it bo3 or something, I was pretty out of it after fighting kaoklai for 5 minutes on just one round then another round having the map change mid duel. It's obvious who are the better players in the long duels(FT5), but if you made the tournament single elimination or bo3 you would see a lot more upsets and an overall more appealing tournament with different results each time.(maybe)

NOTE: The NA community needs to have some responsibility, to show up for matches or schedule a match on your own time. There were also A LOT of things the event host/devs could have done to make the tournament MUCH smoother.

I played polearms because I had a MW Long Hafted Blade, while my 2handers include Longsword and Flamberge (MW)... Flamberge isn't the best dueling weapon, and I didn't want to use Longsword because I could probably be kicked very easily.

I LOVE POLEARMS XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

So this is the kind of thing that happens when I decide to leave for a good amount of time :( I miss all the fun every time. Oh wellz and wait were any of those polearmers using a war spear cuz thats the only classy way to win duels with a polearm. Slap your opponent around a lot then give em a good thrust when they open up :)
My horse is named pebbles and we like to try.
