Ban Request - Daimyo_Tsubohachi
« on: August 13, 2013, 09:13:33 pm »
1. Name of your character involved
Assington of Frisia

2. Name of offending character(s)
Daimyo_Tsubohachi

3. Time and server, as accurately as possible
2:00 PM CST, NA Duel

4. Written description of what happened, the whole story. Also what happened before and after.
I was on the NA duel server before a Strat battle just dueling with my friend, RoR_SugarHoe, and this guy Daimyo_Tsubohachi insults me for beating him in a duel, he called me a nerd multiple times for being better at melee than him, continued to insult me and tell me I shouldn't play this game, then he... he told me to kill myself. I know this goes around alot over the internet, but I am a very emotionally compromised young man. The fact that he told me to commit an atrocious act such as murder upon my own body is unbearable. It really put me down.

5. Why you think the offender did what he did.
I have no idea

6. Multiple Screenshots
The only one I could get

7. Names of players that can witness what happened.
RoR_SugarHoe
Shimbo_ofthe_2ndCrusade

RoR_SugarHoe took this screenshot.

My friend Assington is a very emotional person. I was on teamspeak with him and he got saddened by Daimyo telling him to go kill himself multiple times and calling him a nerd. I think Daimyo should be banned from NA servers so it can be shown that justice is everywhere including north american servers.

Might want to use this new format.

We're all nerds here, so it doesn't really matter.

What am I suppose to do he is calling me names and telling me to kill myself, asking if one thinks about killing themselves is an entirely different matter.

Handle it maturely, ignore or reply neutrally. Make a ban thread later.

asking if one thinks about killing themselves is an entirely different matter.

It is a different matter, however, you didn't ask him if he was thinking about killing himself. You wrote "you have contemplated killing yourself, haven't you." This isn't a question, its an attack on someone's self esteem.

Not nearly in the manner, nor degree in which he was attacking mine. In no way did I throw any insults of equal level back to him, nor noticeably lower his 'self esteem'. In fact, I didn't throw any insults at all.

Also,

Is in question format. It can be seen as a statement, or an inquiry.

I'm not going to argue to interpretation of your words with you, but I do know that you were not concerned about the well-being of Daimyo_Tsubohachi enough that you inquired on his mental health. You intended the statement as an insult and that is that. Both telling someone to kill themselves and implying that they would want to kill themselves are equally horrible things to say in my eyes.

Then why don't you start arguing with Daimyo as well?

While I'm not going to ban Daimyo_Tsubohachi I'll remind everyone to respect other players as much as possible. You never know who's on the other end of your insult and it's entirely possible that you could throw the straw that breaks the camel's back. However Palurgee has raised a valid point, if you feel harassed/threatened/etc. by another player's words then the last thing you should do is responding in kind.

We're not here to play internet censorship 2013, try to enjoy the game and be mature. That means don't be some troll or e-thug who's trying to ruin lives through a game, and if someone tries to do it to you have the presence of mind to realize that they're just acting poorly. If playing the game is stressing you out or the source of negative emotions it's a sign to turn it off and take a step back, don't pull a Huey and put a hole in your wall.

If you really are suffering from severe emotional instability then I strongly advise you to take a break from playing a game that's populated by 90% trolls and seek professional help.
