Well i had the same problems as you guys, but all the strutter disappeared when i did this:

<16:40:37> "Xol": 1) go to Documents\Mount&Blade Warband\
<16:40:46> "Xol": 2) edit crpg_beta_config.ini with notepad
<16:41:05> "Xol": 3) change bOnDemandTextures=true to bOnDemandTextures=false

i also reduced my max fps to 60 and tweeked around with the graphic options.

(Hope it helps and goodluck!)

People don't realise that DirectX 7 is 12 years old API.

People don't realise that M&B's DirectX 7 is actually DirectX 9 FFP.

Unfortunately we don't have anyone who knows how to work with DX7, so that's unlikely to happen.

Ill still be able to play this game even without the WSE2 beta client right? I've played this mod for a very long time, I wanna say before there was NA servers and it would suck if I couldn't play anymore since my laptop can't handle the upgrades. :/

After trying it out a bit more, with a lower fps limit, changing ondemandtextures, and reduce cpu usage off,  its playable. Pretty much just depends on the map, lots of foliage makes it unplayable. I'm used to trees ruining my fps and my fps varying wildly, but its pretty weird on this. Even though I'm only losing a few fps the stutter will be terrible.

My fps may say its 40, but the second I go near trees or a city/town map is on. My game stutters and is just awful. It makes me feel like I'm watching a picture slideshow.

Copy that :)

Running in DX7 atm since DX9/wse delivers very bad performance.. Changed my drivers after an exhaustive search but no real performance gain.

It seems to me that in WSE2 the game doesn't fill in the movement between new information from server? In stead of players moving around smoothly they kind of skip around as their positions get updated. Could it be some kind of prediction being disabled?

Also struggle with fps when there are many trees around. This is all a bit strange as I remember playing Fallout 3 fine on my 9800m GT (512mb).

My settings are all as low as I can get them, even 16bit colors.

Should be able to run warband.. :P  (Does it mean that it still could be possible to fix these problems somehow?)

Anyone discovered some kind of tweaks yet?

So testing it again and I noticed some of the options now have another option under low, abysmal. I also found a low res texture pack on mb repository, I basically just looked through it and added everything that had to do with trees, foliage, and structures. Seems like my games running better now, use at your own risk of course.

Some kind of fix that helped me:

I set max framerate to 120. (After previously trying 60,59 and 40)

Now the framerate fluctuates between 80 and 60, sometimes dipping into high 50's. More importantly, gameplay feels smoother.

Of course, the card is running very hot at 90c.

I'll go and try to make a texture pack now :)

I also found a low res texture pack on mb repository

ScaryMod by Segd

The ultimate low-res texture pack. It makes your game look like it was 1996 but with it you can probably run Warband on your phone.

Download

You can't really go much lower than that ^ and it has cRPG textures aswell. Your low-res pack is 40 mbs, Segd's is 10.
Mods compatible with cRPG. New crosshairs, textures, sounds, yay.

Here's the pack:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/486399/Thomek%20Texture%20Pack%202%20Beta.rar

Basically resized most big textures except ground etc to 128x128 by using the program nvdxt.

3.26 mb download.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Native textures go under:
Mount&Blade Warband\Textures\

cRPG textures go here:
Mount&Blade Warband\modules\cRPG\Textures\

Backup those directories first! (Seriously, do it. I tested this one 1 map for about 10 seconds only)

Then you can set texture quality to high. (my idea is that your hardware don't have to resize them everytime)

NB: Didn't really get an improvement in performance using my own texture pack.. but who knows, maybe you do :)

Firstly, using Framerate input lag reduce option = enormous framerate drops, especially on siege at flag area.
Second, performance is way worse and much less smooth than it was before the client went public for whatever reason.

Cool, I didn't find anything else when I was searching for low res textures. I'll try those out if these ones aren't cutting it.
