Sell/Trade / [Sell] Tempered Longsword
« on: May 30, 2011, 09:02:08 pm »
I'm selling a Tempered Longsword, as the title states. Looking for gold but willing to consider good trade offers. PM me or post offers in this thread.

As the title states, I'm trying to sell a Reinforced Light Mail and Plate and a Thick Sarranid Mail Shirt. While I'm only looking for gold, I am still accepting good trade offers. If you send me a PM, post in this thread stating you did so, thanks!

The Reinforced Light Mail and Plate is easily the best armor in its price range. 17 weight, 46 body, 16 leg with only a 12 str requirement with only a 550 repair cost, it's great armor and only needs loomed once more to be Lordly!

The Thick Sarranid Mail Shirt looks great and has good stats. It's perfect for a low cost high effectiveness armor set.

Defiance

We are the survivors on the battlefield of those that should have lost. With no uniform, each man bears his own identity on the battlefield, ready and willing to fight any who should seek to put their abilities to the test. Though each man has his own past and our numbers are small, we fight together to overcome the many. Defiant in our allegiance, we join the battle for the man with the highest offer. We are the defiant.

Defiance isn't a clan like most others. I formed this clan to fill a specific niche which I found missing from the NA clans, during my own search for a clan. I wanted a clan that recruited based on an individual's skill, intelligence, and team synergy, among other things. At first I had a few clans in mind but after some time I began noticing a few things with each clan that I found somewhat unsettling. Some clans seem to be content merely relying on skill alone, completely forsaking teamwork or the notion of practicing to improve their known flaws. If you lack something as a clan and you chose to ignore that flaw, it seems to me that you're settling for mediocrity. It was also the case that I simply didn't want to be a part of a 40+ player clan. Too many players just increase the likelihood of clan drama, something that can completely ruin teamwork. It was also the case that I didn't want to join a huge alliance, removing half of your enemies takes away much of the fun of competition. Having realized there was no clan that I wished to call home, I chose to form my own.

Thus Defiance was born. We are few in number because we only accept the elite and we are highly focused on teamwork; when small numbers meet with a larger force in battle, they have to rely on both skill and teamwork to pull out a victory. While I am an elitist and encourage elitism (without the accompaniment of arrogance), I go out of my way to not seem arrogant. I'm no dictator so you'll quickly take notice that I value the opinions of my peers and clan members. With that said, I hope that I have helped to paint a better picture as to who Defiance is, as well as who I am.

Roster
(click to show/hide)

We're looking for players that are...
...skilled and wanting to join a small mercenary clan for Strategus and clan battles/tournaments.
...always trying to get better.
...able to cooperate in team situations. It's not enough to just rambo every round and rely purely on skill (Though I do this myself from time to time).

Rules:
You fight with us for Strategus and you wear our tag so our enemies know who they fear, nothing else matters.

VOIP:
While we do have a mumble server, you're not required to be in when you're simply playing on the battle server .

Applicants:
Post or send me a pm if you're interested and we'll go from there. If I already know you, we'll probably just have you pop in mumble for a bit.

Game Balance Discussion / All X-Bows Should be Two Slots
« on: May 15, 2011, 03:15:17 pm »
Considering WPF mechanics and X-Bows inherently higher accuracy than other ranged types, as well as damage, I fail to see how a Wielding a crossbow, a stack of bolts, a poleaxe, all while in plate, is any better than the previous system.  Even if, with the new system, you're forced to use a crossbow instead of a heavy or an arbalest, it doesn't seem like anything has changed. Crossbows have the least investment needed out of all ranged and they have some of the best possible ranged damage. I think because of their low investment, which I'm not suggesting needs to be changed, they should all be two slots to help balance them with bows and throwing.

Currently battle servers have reverted to how they were before the most recent patches, that is, with all melee either bringing a pike or a crossbow along with their heavy two-handed/polearm weapons. The first minute or two of the battle is a camp fest where all the ranged just take pot shots at each other. Crossbows during this time become every bit as effective as bows are, but then late in the round, when the ranged are forced to enter melee, the crossbow guys pull out poleaxes and claymores while the bows have to pull out one handers. Not to mention Crossbowmen are much freer to use heavy armor than bowmen are.

Sure, lower tier bows like the Strongbow and Khergit are 1 slot so if they bring one stack of arrows they can do the same thing. The difference though, is that bows require far more of an investment to be good with. Spending skill points is mandatory for bows while not for crossbows. 120 wpf minimum(and this is being generous) is mandatory for bows while crossbows are perfectly fine at 80 wpf (And I know a couple of people who only get 50 wpf in crossbows). There is also a significant STR/PD difficulty difference(that I wouldn't suggest changing) between the two ranged types. You only need 10 str for the highest tier 1 slot xbow, but 12/15 for the 2nd highest/highest 1 slot bows.

I could go on, but I'm interested in seeing what other people think as well.

Currently there is a lot of talk about a database wipe and the players who think it's a great idea are saying because they want to level the playing field(which doesn't coincide with an "rpg" mod) and because people play too much. Both statements are illogical and not in the interest of literally anyone.

Previously if you retired once, you reached your second retirement 10% faster than the first time. That means for those that don't have much time to play cRPG, you cut off a lot of time before you got your first masterworked weapon. Now, with total XP not having changed and each retirement only being 3% faster, you have to spend quite a bit more time to get those heirlooms. People with no life are going to play just as much as before, and they're going to get heirlooms regardless of what you do. The difference, is that you're going to have to spend more time playing just to get a single masterworked weapon.

The gap between the Have's and the Have-Not's will only widen. I assure you, those asking for a database wipe who don't have a lot of time to play crpg or who "have a life", it's in your best interest to:
A) Not have a database wipe, putting you farther away from a masterwork
B) Have the old XP system with 10% bonus XP per retirement.

The only two ways that the heirloom system can become balanced are:
1) Heirlooms aren't given by anything related to time spent playing. Meaning you don't retire at level 31 and get a free heirloom.
2) Heirlooms are given out through events such as tournaments or strategus.

Suggestions Corner / C-rpg.net Feedback Feature
« on: April 29, 2011, 09:56:34 am »
I like the concept, it's a good way to get feedback on something in a really quick way, but it NEEDS a vote down option. There isn't a way to gauge the poll without a way to have an opposition vote, it's too easy to undermine the whole system, if a group of players wanted to.

cRPG Technical problems / Masterworked Langes Messer Missing
« on: April 29, 2011, 05:53:55 am »
Maybe it's because over the past two weeks I've been looming my Langes Messer and having just gotten it masterworked yesterday, I can now no longer even use it. There isn't even a Langes Messer that my character owns anymore.
