Resolved Issues / [Suggestion] Built-in anticheat

Some of us may know that it's possible to have advantages that other players don't have (invisible bushes, hays, no fog, bright ammo etc.). I suggest to make built-in anti-cheat which checks these some certain files before running warband without letting player to change them before running client. If file is changed - redownload original files and replace, also inform server about someone trying to use cheats. I've suggested it already a couple of times but I think that it's a right time to implement it now as work on beta client is slowed down drastically.

Hello, guys. I wanted to stop flame wars and I personally stopped posting in this section in Nords threads. I also asked Andswaru to ask his members to stop these forum flamewars and stop giving me random minuses to my posts. He promised to talk to his members and stop this. One day passes and I see my infamy growing more and more. Guess what happens? Yes, Nordic Kids™ attacked my renown/infamy ratio.

It's actually kinda amusing since I like that people put effort to such things (though, whom am I lying to? it's just childish  :lol:). Even if you make my infamy the same as GTXes - I won't take part in these forum wars, since I'd better kill you on the battlefield.

Diplomacy / How about we stop making Strat horrible thing?

Hello, %username%!

I kindly suggest to all the players, and especially leaders/diplomats, to stop calling other players names, arguing, trolling bad or insulting in any other way. This just makes Strat a horrible thing to play, sometimes people just forget that it's a game and start going full retard, making jokes about something unacceptable that is beyond the border of fun.

I know that Strategus drama is something that some certain people like to see and I can not do anything with multiaccount users/other abusers. There is no black and white here in Strategus, just like in real life. There is no point in constant finger pointing. This community knows who is who and there is no need in everyday bitching over and over again.

It's okay when people say something like "we will wipe you in the next battle", it's a part of the game, even some minor insults if they're given in good manner. But what I see more and more these days is that people actually mean what they say and they really get these feelings: hate, anger, arrogance, intolerance etc. There are some people who will keep doing what they already do and you can't do anything with them, I suggest just to ignore them since when you get down to their level - people don't see any difference between you and your opponent. Also, the row of mutes and warnings proved that we're doing something wrong.

Strategus is meant to bring some good time spent in good battles. But most of the time it's not even close to something described there. Even after winning with 2+:1 overall scores of your army I personally didn't feel any kind of satisfaction because I saw players and what they did. You might remember a scandal after the first Emirin battle in Strat2 when Mercs capped the spawn of FCC, I was one of 3 players who capped the spawn and the only player without horse there (you can even see me in the video in green tunic), but my euphoria of victory has gone quickly after a lot of intolerant and insulting messages of my team in the chat, my mates started crap like fuck american fat cunts, fuck you yankees, go back to NA etc. I also spent some bad time making roster, these rollcalls whatsoever.


Don't forget that we play it because we like it, not because we have to.

What is this?
It's an area where everyone is allowed to trade.

Is this kind of Alliance?
No, it's just a free trading zone. Members of it are not allies/lords/vassals of each other, we just want to help lonely traders and strangers who have no big forces behind their backs. Bartering Brigade (Black Tea) is completely neutral, thank them for taking part in our mission.

Why do you do this?
We want to help all the players and factions to survive in this cruel Strategus reality. We also want to help small and weak factions to gain some money and have some fun time in future.

What do you actually allow to do there?
1) Use our fiefs to trade in towncenters
2) Buy and sell as many goods as you want
3) Buy and sell equipment

Which fiefs are in the free trading area of Dhirim?
Dhirim [Mercenaries]

Dhirim:
+3 Long Spears with 20% discount
+1 Black and White shield with 10% discount
Random equipment in Town Center.

Senuzgda Castle:
+3 Black coats of plates with 40% discount

I suggest to make some ways to use Strat ticks. It's the early start of the strat but I already have 700+ unused strat ticks (I can stop playing crpg for 350+ hours still having an ability to gain gold or recruit troops and that's more than 2 weeks). My basic suggestions:

1) Make it so that upkeeping a travelling army requires not only gold but strategus ticks aswell. (>101 troops - 0 ticks per hour, 101-500 - 1 tick per hour, and 1 tick for every next 250 troops, 501-750 - 2 ticks, 751-1000 - 3 ticks, 1001-1250 - 4 ticks etc.) So upkeeping an army of 1000 would require 78 ticks each day (when you travel), not that much, mb you'll have a better idea for calculation.

2) Make Quick March using ticks. Something like 50 ticks.

3) Make a possibility to gain double gold/troops for 5 ticks per hour.

And maybe something more. These are just ways to use strat ticks. cRPG definitely needs to benefit those who play.

Tired of kuyak-warmask-danish GS heroes? I propose to implement such thing as instable prices. How this should work:

Each day somewhere in the night or the early morning the Server checks the database of heirloomed items of all crpg by classes. +1 gives 1 point to the item, +2 gives 2 points and MW items give 3 points. The most used item of the class (with most of points) gets +15% of the price, 2 less usable items get +10% of the price, 3 other usable items get +5%. Same with the most unused items. They're also marked on the website as "mainstream" and "rare" or something like that  :lol:

General Discussion / Motivating people to make mod a better thing

We are all playing this lovely mod and I was wondering if there is something we can motivate players to help devs to do something. There are millions of things to be done, but they're not in the first lines of to-do lists of devs or they don't have people for something of that. So what I suggest: We create a faction and donate gold to its bank. After that we pick some things which need to be done (like making sounds for voices, making LODs for armours/weapons to increase game performance, making new collision meshes, new models of weapons/armours etc.) and we decide how much gold it's worth of.
I want to make it open and clear so not a single gold will go to someone's hands without earning it. I would also like all gold there to be given by players exclusively and not by devs. The log of the faction will show who put money and when money were taken out. I'll also add that I'll proceed with my work on the mod without any gold taken from this faction, because I simply don't need it. There are a lot of talented guys among us and with some gold rewards it will be much more motivating for them to do something.

The faction is just called "cRPG" and I would be happy to see all players taking part in it. Lets make this mod a better thing to play... because we can :D

Suggestions Corner / Fixed player hitboxes

I'm currently working on optimizing hitboxes. I've heard a lot of complains about projectiles flying through bodies. Yes, its possible since hitboxes don't fit the body. First of all, you should know that only capsules are possible for hitboxes. Second thing is that warband uses the same hitboxes both for female and male characters, so when I've finished my fixed hitboxes for male - they were good for male, but horrible for female. And it would be kinda imbalanced if women could have smaller hitboxes, so we didn't come to any kind of compromise.

Currently, I've made hitboxes for hands (for some reason, they didn't have any hitboxes at all). You could shoot through hands before, but now you can't. The damage you take while being shot in the hand is the lowest among other body parts (I won't give you exact numbers, it's cut by more than 30%). Will be added in the next version of crpg.

Added in 0.289. The first one is the model of construction site. Yeah, that one which you hold in hands. It looked ugly and seems to me that nobody even wanted to fix it because it was since the first day when construction sites were implemented. It didn't have a bottom face so it caused a glitched look. Added 4 faces, connected to a texture.

If anyone cares - in this thread I'll add my fixed collision meshes (so called invisible walls or hitboxes).

Added 18.08.2012. I have fixed snowy pine. Its enormous collision mesh (invisible wall) caused a lot of rage in hearts of cavalry getting stopped by the air and ranged having their ammo stuck close to the pine.

Added 18.08.2012. Fixed collision mesh for portcullis. I remember a lot of hate on pikemen who could attack through this object but archers couldn't shoot through it. So I got it fixed, now you can shoot through free spaces.

There are a lot of undefined strings in other languages, it's probably needed to be translated and added.
Plus I can personally translate it into Russian (I doubt that Ukrainian will be demanded), though I didn't find russian language files (but the russian version exists).
