long story short:
as archery in crpg is about adaptability, now we are facing: slowed down by quiver weight, less ammo, less damage... To counter this: let's wear heavier armor, shoot from closer range to maximize hit ratio and damage :)

I spent many generations as an archer (well did not become one of the good ones, though :)) and tbh I'm not that angry as some of my fellow archers - well, it's still hard to accept that I can't kill tincans anymore, but I can live with it.. :)
I think archery's role is about to change if all this stays as it is. I went for killing heroes but realised it's hardly possible (I hit a winged helmet guy: 5 headshots (!!!), 2 bodyshots (with mw bow and tatar arrows, pd6), and he kept moving).

Now I'm about to support melee more, remaining close to them and trying to hit agi people sneaking behind them or archers hunting for them from afar... at least I can kill them with a few shots as ammo saving is important now (just realized how good an mw bow with tatar arrows are in that) while having a ~50 body armor + some IF helps me soaking more shots than before. took 6 ps some (well 31 :))wpf in 2handed (I like langes messer as a 1 slot 2 hander) just in case fight gets closer as I can't escape with ath 8 (18/24 build). I'm making the same (sh*tty :)) scores and K/D as before but rather enjoy it especially my melee kills or when I die but can delay 3-4 melee at a time...

if intention was to increase the support role of archery against the concept of individual archer heroes - it works well atm, at least for average archers like me... Archers with previous k/D of 5-7+ may experience a big drop in their scores and K/D, though

still one thing to whine about :) longbow seems much less usable now - slow as hell with very slow projectiles causing about the same damage as a bow. I stopped using it atm but would be happy to use again.. Think that accuracy should be significantly lowered with a major buff in damage at close range and missile speed may be even with a PD req increase.

Well, it would be a team's decision whether to go for a given ballista or not... for example the ballista shown in this thread should be destroyed as it can decimate attackers with ease as attackers don't have any alternate route... Less critically placed ballistas may attract some troll attacks, but these will end quickly as no one will defend those ballistas.. or defend but it means distracted defenders as well...

What about making ballistas destructible? (like doors for example)
It would keep the fun (for the first 2-3 minutes of a siege) but would not mean an annoying trouble anymore... I bet melee heroes would go and destroy them ... while defense can decide whether a ballista is important enough to defend...

Voted no as I think they could be countered with proper teamplay...
Only issue I find disturbing is the unlimited bump ability... Horses should suffer damage each and every time they bump someone - depending on given person's armor and strength maybe... that would limit the bump shooting an make foot archer more efficient in killing already wounded horses...

Partly disagree... just changed my main from archer to a shielder after 12 gens of archery :)
And it's fun to play indeed .. Have a ridiculous K/D ratio as I run into the middle of the battle like a headless chicken, and have no experience in close quarter fighting, but I'm enjoying it and I will get better soon :)

Well and partly... because I'm experimenting to build a proper shielder / archer hybrid later (maybe next gen or after.. I may try a 2 handed version as well)

In an older topic Templar Steeve has given a solution. I tried yesterday and worked: Simply restarted my WiFi router.
(There's a chance that while I restarted the router simply passed some time :))
I tried many things before (relaunched warband via Stream, restarted my computer etc), but these failed to help me.

Archer response: Don't chase after the archer, just use the shield to not die.

Well, another response: why don't you grab a bow and shoot the archer? It's basically the same as expecting an archer to do melee and have any chance against a pure melee char... and needs no more investment, neither :)

I dont mind.. I got plenty of looms to rent out... but it only leads to the rich getting richer.. is that wanted? The crpg loomsystem already make it hard for new players to get a fair fight.

Not really. What about setting up limitations for those who can rent? Let's say only player mains with gen 3 or less can rent items. This would help newbies to become competent quicker...

Maybe just add a section in market to "Rent" looms for a certain amount a day.  I like the idea though so I'll give you credit for that.  Not saying this would "Balance" things but I like the idea nonetheless.

yep, this "rent" option would make it a lot easier to handle... (3 days, each player can have a single item), although 1x, 2x, 3x generation players do not really need money... let's say they can choose to get some fee for renting or a "lottery ticket" where a unique gear will be the jackpot. They would offer more items, I think :)

As to Balance: no balance is needed imho, only some decrease in the gap between old and new players. 1 +3  item for each new player could make it...

Just an idea: why not create a special armoury for newbie players (for example main chars, 1-3 Gen, independent of level), just like those used by the clans?
Each player with multiple looms can throw in not used heirloom items. Each player whose items were borrowed let's say for 300 days in total (put 3 items, each borrowed for 100 days by different players..), gains a loompoint/special gear/gold/etc - well, exact rules can be found out later...

Problem solved, new players can have heirlooms (many heirlooms, can try out many items and choose the best ones for themselves), and no heirloom is to be removed...
