General Discussion / Mouse acceleration
« on: February 05, 2018, 01:23:08 pm »
Do you play cRPG with mouse acceleration? I'm curious if this helps or not in order to be able to turn fast enough for circling enemies while still being accurate with attack and block directions.

cRPG Technical problems / Floating helmets

How can I fix the floating helmets? The last time I played I heard using "repair" in the launcher would do the trick but it hasn't this time.

General Discussion / DTV ex-admin apologies
« on: January 26, 2018, 04:46:44 pm »
To DTV players and anyone else affected by me when I was an admin, I want to apologise. I was too strict and abused my power many times to suit my playstyle. I am sorry for having been a shitty admin.

Suggestions Corner / Adjust xp & gold gain
« on: March 13, 2015, 12:09:33 pm »
We all know that, on top of the fewer population, a lot of people have started playing DTV instead of battle/siege, just for the rewards, thus involuntarily contributing to battle/siege's "death".

The typical solution in cRPG, I guess, would be to nerf DTV rewards back, leaving them inferior to the other game-modes in average.

My suggestion is the opposite: increase the rewards of every other game-mode, making DTV inferior again - not a grind game-mode but the newbies and noobs game-mode it always was. :)

You may think this solution would be too much, making levelling up too easy, or "destroying" the concept of cRPG, but, at this stage, I think that boosting xp and gold gain would actually attract more players, both old and new. Given the current population, I think that faster levelling up and heirloom acquisition would be motivating. I think the concept of cRPG is not just levels or the grind, but the best modification of Warband, with its unique different game mechanics and features, and the optimization with WSE2, and, by shortening the grind, the mod would be more dynamic.

By tripling the rewards (both xp and gold) of Battle and Siege, these game-modes would yield more rewards than DTV again, and, at the same time, still be more fun (to a lot of people), and, if you think about it, e.g. a Battle round with x5 that ends in 4 minutes would give you 3750 gold (DTV max reward is 3000 gold), and, if the round lasted longer, even more gold. The xp gain would also be higher than DTV's maximum.

If you think it's too much of an increase, you could tone it all down, including DTV, but I suggest both xp and gold rewards stay higher than the old. Best game mechanics + smaller grind = more dynamism + more players.

cRPG Technical problems / Ballista bugs
« on: March 08, 2015, 05:40:26 pm »
I will write about the ballista bugs I've found so far (at least the most game-breaking) in DTV. If you find any others, post here.

  • Invisible polearm that appears in your hands when you spawn, but with which you can't attack or block or do anything. When you drop it, an item appears on the ground (this time a shield) (but if you pick it up it's still that invisible useless weapon). Sometimes, it keeps reappearing in your hands right after dropping it, often very repeatedly. I don't know if this happens outside of DTV, but, in DTV, it happens often. I'm not sure, but I think it's easier to get rid of it (not having it respawn in your hands) if you wait until round start countdown has ended before dropping it. My guess is it might have to do with ballista occupying 1 slot when you use it?

  • Spawn at ballista - when a new round starts, you spawn using a ballista instead of at spawn, and you can't "escape" unless you press F (re-use the ballista) and then move.
  • Teleportation when a player is very close to the ballista (or clipping through it) and then another player starts using it and then aims up. The first player is instantly teleported to a location very far away and high up. Sad_Hobo showed me this bug, so credits go to him. Note that I forgot to take a screenshot of the ballista we used, but it's the one to the right of the front gate, like 50 metres away from where he ended up, and that roof is unreachable without this bug.

Suggestions Corner / Show Game Rules
« on: March 01, 2015, 05:03:11 pm »
I was wondering if it would be possible to edit Show Game Rules option in the menu to keep the first lines and, under it, replace the old technical Warband server stats with the Official Server Rules.

That way, by reading the first lines, you learn that you have to register in c-rpg.net and then there's a forum for more information. Then you could read the real cRPG rules without having to find them in the forums.

General Off Topic / Crossfire power consumption
« on: December 07, 2014, 03:03:38 pm »
I wanted to get a second 270x for Crossfire, and I read everywhere that I should have a 750W PSU, which I have, except for one thread where they said a quality 600W PSU could do.

The problem is that I recently purchased a UPS of 1000VA/600W, making the mistake of not looking at the W (and I also was convinced that my PSU was of 600W). After speaking to the shop, I cannot RMA it because the deadline is over. And, if I wanted Crossfire, most threads I've seen (tomshardware mostly) say you need 750W for Crossfire.

Then, in the same message where the shop told me I couldn't RMA, they said the manufacturer of the GPU specifies it only needs 600W for Crossfire (and it indeed says so in the page where I bought it), and it's the only guys who claim that.

If anyone has some advice I would really appreciate it. I don't know if I can go for it and use this UPS or it will end up getting fried or frying my computer.

cRPG Technical problems / Teleporting after horse bump
« on: November 20, 2014, 09:51:49 pm »
I think I have found a fix for this issue:

As soon as you start teleporting, instead of holding the movement keys, quickly tap them repeatedly.

That fixes the teleporting in a matter of seconds for me. I hope it helps!

Suggestions Corner / In-game title without veteran/master/etc

Could we have the option to use fief or custom titles without the veteran/master/grandmaster/legendary at the beginning (when we have it), so, for instance, I could be announced as "Patoson, the peasant from the mountains, has entered the battlefield!", instead of what you can see in the picture?

Suggestions Corner / Higher xp gain (same for everyone)
« on: June 16, 2014, 06:49:26 pm »
My suggestion is simple, although I suppose implementing it might not be as much: reverse the generation xp bonus, so, if you are gen. 1, you will level up the fastest, and, as you retire and your generation increases, you will level up slower.

This way beginners will catch up with veterans much faster, and, with the new standard double xp, levelling up with a high gen wouldn't be so bad anyway. It will also make levelling up alts less of a pain.

I've just realised that this could bring problems, like people abandoning their high gen. characters to retire with new characters, that would level up faster and there would probably be an heirloom boom.

How about, instead, the generation xp bonus is removed and you get max xp since gen 1, so the grind will be less painful for our alts and for beginners?

Currently, levelling up a character with a low generation is a pain, compared to one with a high generation, and maybe this made sense in cRPG origins, but, today, apart from the level, gear and skill difference between veterans and new players, the latter also have to play much more to get to the same level as veterans.

I think you should level up as fast as someone with max. gen. since the beginning, and leave the generation stat as something aesthetic (to count your retirements).
