cRPG Technical problems / Critical Error Message

When I use the launcher it tells me to pick the mb_warband application so I do that, half way through the loading it pops up with "Critical error" when I tries to process the INI file on the loading screen. Tried WSE2 or what ever, with and without, running as admin, repairing. Nuttin works!
