I think a lot of you guys would like competitive melee if you got into it, it reminds me of c-rpg in some ways. Everyone in the community is somehow super good at the game and the average players are way better than you would expect, so its got a big learning curve and the skill ceiling is insanely high, which was pretty much my experience learning c-rpg. It's great if you want a competitive challenge, which was why I liked c-rpg in the first place, so I'm guessing some of you guys are the same way. I played melee as a kid, but once you start learning the advanced techniques that competitive players use its an entirely different game, trust me. Theres so much potential for outplaying people and the game is actually way deeper than it seems at first glance.

Unless you wanna be a filthy casual and play smash 4 which is slower paced with more limited movement options, fewer combos, and a lower skill ceiling  :rolleyes:

Strategus General Discussion / how does strat reset work

So this is the first round of strat ive been in, just wondering how the start of the new one works. Ive heard mentions of a voting system but havent seen an explanation anywhere. How did this work? Is anything based on how much you have in the previous strat or is it a total reset? Just curious.

So, if you use dark hauberk with mail mittens or strange gloves or one of the gloves that only cover your hand itself, your hands float like 3 inches away from the end of the arm with dark hauberk.

Beginner's Help and Guides / stabbing with long weapons

I just went polearm for a gen, I like using the 2d ones because its different than how im used to playing, but I have trouble stabbing up close with the longer ones. I know basically you have to start the stab not aiming at them and then turn to where you are, but whats the best way to do this? Like what direction should I be using? Any other tips for stabbing up close with long weapons?

cRPG Technical problems / Weird bug today - Clones of everyone

Alright, so around 3:35 pm CST (20 mins ago), on NA_2 siege server, there was a super crazy bug. At the start of the round, there was just a line of like 10 naked people standing in the middle of the map from both teams, and those people were also controlling their own characters, so it was like a clone of them? I didnt get a screenshot of that because i had no idea what was going on at first bc it was so bizarre, but i did get a screenshot of the chat message of one person killing his own clone.

I know it sounds like im trolling because its so bizarre, but this really did happen, at the beginning of the round there was a standing still clone of almost everyone on the server and we killed the clones, and then after that most of them were gone but a few kept respawning. Should be something in the logs about it to verify =P

General Discussion / Retiring in strat battle with different name

If you retire at the beginning of a strat battle and you choose to change name and gender, will it still work like usual where you can get the xp to count for the next gen, or will it not recognize your character? I dont wanna end up level 1 in a strat battle and have to ditch, so if anyone has actually done this before itd be useful. I asked on NA_1 and got conflicting answers so please be able to back up whatever you answer =P thanks!

Applied for a namechange to remove my clantag and it got rejected? I thought as long as it was to correct a typo or add/remove a clantag they would accept it. Wanted to change from Scervo_The_Berserk to Scervo. Or can you only add tags but not remove them or something?

Sooo can someone explain the basics of engineering to me? =P It seems the only place to learn is Strategus battles but at the same time strat battles arent necessarily the place for trying out new things, i dont wanna volunteer to do something i dont know how to do during strat and then get raged at.
