My friends are trying to make this happen. They'd appreciate any support greatly, and as would I. I think the cRPG community is a good place to chime in on something like this :D

Suggestions Corner / How to reduce long spear madness?
« on: January 17, 2013, 09:25:08 am »
Alright, you probably already know the deal. Long Spear user against you. You come close, so he kicks you and stabs you in the face, you die. WTF? You try to hit, he points his spear on the sky, stabs and turns it down so it comes down like the wrath of god. You die again.

This is quite silly imo. Long Spear is a support weapon, something that you aren't supposed to use 1-on-1. So I propose a vertical angle limitation for long spear, not unlike one did to lancers but a different one. This would mean that the long spear users could still point their spear up enough to stab jumping cav or stab in the head if they can, but limits the opportunities or pointing the spear directly up.

I propose that the max angle you could point the long spear would be 45 angles from ground. Discuss.

General Discussion / New Armors sponsored by Fallen Saudi oil money
« on: December 04, 2012, 11:13:10 am »
I think it's about time for this. Some of the big factions have donated their theme-specific armors to cRPG ages ago, so we in the Brigade thought it's about time we'd also make our contribution to cRPG by hiring a talented 3d artist (Zimke) to make some good quality historic armors for the game we all like so much. So, without further ado, here they are:

Thanks devs, I can play again!

This arrow weight increase is a much better fix against kiting archers than fucking up our builds.

Mercenary Recruitment / Glorious Revolutionary Peasant Army of Tilimsal!
« on: September 19, 2012, 06:20:23 am »
Hello Comrades,

Glorious Revolutionary Peasants of Tilimsal will fight against the foul DRZ villains today at 20:35 GMT. We got good equipment for everyone (except cav and xbows since we're poor) and will fight to our dying breath!

Come join us in the defense of Tilimsal!

We will do a roll call 30 mins before the battle, so if someone doesn't show up we will give the slots to those who are in TS. IP is 176.9.48.138.

Suggestions Corner / Strategus map divide according to timezones?
« on: July 18, 2012, 08:41:09 am »
This is a bad idea!

Alright then, another suggestion from me. I dislike the current Eu/NA divide really much on the strategus map. Still, I recognize the need for this, and support some kind of divide for it. This is why I'd like to propose a different divide, a one that is not based on continents but timezones. My suggestion:

As you can see, it's quite similar to a world map. I'd also give something else to this that was in the previous strat: defender choosing the server on the border areas (let's say GMT±2) between Eu and NA. This way an "exile" clan could still fight battles on their own preferred server and international clans could go and reside on the timezones between Eu and NA.

The main selling point would be to get an optimal time for each timezone (let's say 19-22). Battles occurring in each zone of the map would be fought on the timezones respective 19-22 time periods or as close to it as possible. It could book the next available good timeslot on the timezone at least 12 hours from the attack. This way there wouldn't be so many crazy battle times (Mercs attacking castle at 4 in the night...) and people could actually participate in strat battles without losing their night sleep.

Also you might notice that the Eu area has a bit more fiefs than NA area. This is intentional, since the Eu playerbase is bigger.

What do you think?

Suggestions Corner / AI Armies/City-states for strategus?
« on: July 13, 2012, 09:33:06 am »
Here's an idea that popped into my head when I was caught in nostalgia about native SP. There some Khergit once said that it's the eternal cycle of the steppe that when old rulers get fat and old, new warlords come from the east and conquer the land for themselves. In my opinion, this fits very well into the clan diplomacy clusterfuck that is strategus now. This also makes me present a question:

What if strategus had foreign invaders and wandering armies that could randomly attack fiefs and bigger parties? And with armies I don't mean the 49 man parties, but 1000 troops or etc. They would have matching gear (maybe we can make a list of gear that fits a theme, AI buys from that list?) and would wander around and attack a fief now and then.

Let's make an example: Hospitallers currently control the steppe area. A new warlord comes from the east, bringing his army of 1000 men to conquer a village. He moves around in the area near Ada Kulun for a couple days, perhaps attacks a couple bigger parties, then lays a siege on the village. If Hospitallers win, they'll gain all the items he had with him. If he wins, the village will be transferred back to AI. Same could be applied everywhere in the map, with a couple random AI armies for each terrain type.

You can ask me, why on earth I'd want such a thing?

Well, simply because I think strategus is boring. People just gather resources and play the diplomatic game. There's no big field battles, only clans taking towns from AI which is quite gimped. There hasn't even been a proper war in a long time because the damned economics makes fighting too expensive. The towns that are on the maps edge are safe from everything, because the world just ends there, no enemy armies can shake things up for the clans residing there. Keep in mind that the AI party would spawn randomly in somewhere in the terrain type, so those clans who are in the centre are not safe from them either.

People are not even having battles for fun anymore like in first strat. Some people still probably remember my theme battles, and this may smell a lot like the same thing. It's true, I liked my theme battles and this would carry on the tradition in an automated form. Making this option viable would make strategus more fun for everyone. Hell, if sensible automation is not possible I could spawn the armies and equip/hire rosters for the battles myself if I just could (without being biased towards anyone, everyone would get their equal share of suffering from the "invaders").

So, a simple question, would you want this feature in or not?
