i have played cav 9 out of 10 gens, so a long enough time for some of you to know me..
i have sumpter, rouncey, champion steppe, courser, destrier and charger but i have played quite a few rounds on catapract aswell
i play with sidesword and steppe horse and do quite well, but that does not mean the internal balance of cav is ok..
after the patch heavier than destrier is worthless, they may live longer, but yield a mouch WORSE k/d, and i say this as heavy cav pre patch.
i think the heavy horses should have slightly worse manouver but less cost, that way you choose to be able to charge more head on or be a light/ninja cav
the choise of horse should be connected to playstyle.
a choise between charging/durability and flaking/monuverability
i dont think heavier should equal more cost by it self, i think the sum of stats of the horse should determine its cost.

Ps: saying cav is balanced because Tommy and Ujin is doing well is not realy a valid argument since most would be cavs are doing less than good compared to the cost of their gear.
tommy and ujin was using light horses pre patch also... the upkeep nerf hit the heavy cavaly hardest and its that clas that needs a little love, not cav in general(except for throwing nerf)

heirloom respecing on a regular basis would also be nice so people would not be locked to class as much
as it is, having an heirloomed 1h means you will probably stay 1h, but whats the point??
ability to change heirlooms would increase diversity of gameplay for those that would want to change their style.
+ the fact that you would not feel screwed over by rebalance.

PS: before you say "you made the choice now live with it"
consider:
upsides:
+balance(some will always choose the op alternative, now everyone has equal opportunity)
+playing with the gear you like
+getting to change your style(looks and class)
+system that does not need new fixing every time items are rebalanced
downsides:
-more OP heirlooms(however more evenly distributed, so not really a downside:))

In reading between the lines of this thread, I do not understand why having had a 1:3 heirloom respec in January matters in deciding to implement another heirloom respec in the next patch. This is supposed to be a fun game for everyone to play, and people are supposed to change their minds, playstyles, desires etc. This is not about control, or parents setting rules and children abiding by them, or learning lessons from lost opportunities or mistakes, or anything else. This is an online game to provide adults as well as children with fun, an escape from reality, an opportunity to bond with each other, and enjoy our lives just a little bit more. This is the point of Mods, and my understanding of cRPG, so why so much reluctance to make everyone happy? I honestly do not get it.

Allowing everyone to respect heirlooms 1:1 provides
  • Everyone who owns any heirloomed item being significantly changed with an exchange option so they do not feel they lost time
  • Provides opportunity for players to try different play styles without feeling they wasted time on previously heirloomed armor or weapons

For example, someone who invested heirlooms into heavy armor and plays heavy strength, can decide instead to play light armor with high agility without feeling they wasted time if they change play styles, or worse they decide not to change playstyle to avoid feeling they wasted time. Same applies to the Bar Mace, except that a core functionality of the Bar Mace is being removed.

Help me understand why the process of polishing an excellent game and maintaining integrity of balance is in contradiction to helping everyone feel happy? Character and heirloom respecs allow for all of this to occur all at once.

Agreed, and all i have spoken to in the game also agrees. retirement allows respec.. but not fully as heirlooms remains the same.
i say let let everyone trade 1:1 heirlooms, no sense making it locked when it adds nothing and removes alot of versatiliy.

PS: also blackstone, you should make a suggestion topic just for this if you havent already

For what its worth i agree with tai and joker, only slow weapons  should have this insanely powerfull mechanic.

Yesterday I(Templar_Killface_IV) was permanently banned from one of the siege servers.
i was very surprised as i recieved no warning prior to the ban and have never been banned before. also i have played since forever and i was one of the first ten public donators to chadz, so i would have thought i would atleast get a warning. but anyways.
it was first 20 secs after spawning as defenders and me and two of my mates (olegakkus and rockenrollah) were talking on skype while kicking eachother ingame. to mess with one of my mates two of us started kicking him towards the edge untill he fell of.
then my other mate(who started it all) started kicking me so i kicked him back, then he hit me with his 2h axe and i hit him with my 1h sword unfortunately killing him since he was wearing no armor.
then one second later - BAN... no warning no explanation

anyways the point of the game is to have fun, we did not ruin the fun for anyone or attack anyone else, both guys respawned before the enemy got onto the walls so it did not affect team balance.
the point of ban is to remove elements who ruin the fun. and since we did not i kindly ask that you remove the ban
also i think i you are gonna ban for kicking you should ban both parties, neiter of my mates were banned(not that i am asking for that either)
