Title: SERIOUS TALK ABOUT THE FUTURE
Post by: Otus_VI on May 05, 2016, 09:54:38 pm

This is serious. We all love cRPG or we hate it, but nevertheless, we still play it. But what will happen when 1. Of Kings and Men is released and 2. Bannerlord finally comes out? Of course there is the possibility that it'll take so much time for the games to be released that we all will be in our graves. Whatever happens, the future of cRPG is at stake. Its already dwindling amount of member is about disappear completely when either of these two games will be released. What will happen to all of our precious looms?
And the second thing to consider is, which game will the majority of players choose? Where will our loyalties lie? Will players choose one and forget the other, or will both have some players? There are a lot of question concerning this matter but luckily there is a lot of time to ponder them. Maybe a bit too much

Where will our loyalties lie?

My loyalty will lie with myself and my wallet... cause when my wallet is empty, any business designed around making money wont care about me.
So perhaps turn it around.. Wich business is loyal enough to you and served you well enough, to be rewarded with a purchase of their product?

I'll be inactive in OKaM. Kinda like Joker, forum warrior rarely seen in game. Age, priorities in life change... barely playing games. Will buy Bannerlord to see what they made after all these years. See myself playing campaign for hours and multiplayer a lot less. Online gaming is for teens, adolescents and college drop outs.

With OKAM I know that if I cry loud enough on forums they'll nerf ranged. Can't say the same about Bannerlord.
And we are ready. We coded specific tools to nerf ranged on the fly.

I'll be playing both I'm sure. The siege mechanics in Bannerlord look pretty sick from the teasers I've seen, that's what I'm most excited about- if anyone ever makes something akin to Strategus on it, the catapults will actually work, the rams will be in, sieges may actually be pretty fun! Even single player looks like it will be fairly improved due to small tweaks like that, stuff that would have been in originally if they had more time and budget.

And of course I'll be playing OKaM faithfully as well!

What happens to our looms? They collect dust and are useless. People who illegally sold looms for cash money back in the heyday of cRPG had the right idea, I was never savvy enough to do it and didn't want to get perma'd either, because while I can play without looms, I still want to play haha.

More quests hopefuly.
Can't wait for the SP mods, aswell.

OKAM, I will play, CPRG, I play too. I hope that the two must be linked, after all, CRPGER is the foundation.

It is going to be difficult sorting out the priorities in life when Bannerlord and Okam are both out.

Overall Warband is already quite dead so what do you think will happen when OKAM and MB² is released?  :P
Except if they are both shit it will of course cause the death of cRPG at least at some extent.

But still not bad for a game released in 2010.
Quite amazing.. tho. I guess people simply want to log in buy a phat weapon... murder other players for an hour or two, without all that other shit.

Guilty.

Cool isnt it? People simply playing there, and keeping their autism to a minimal. I have yet to been thrown an insult or grief my way. Or too be quite frank... anyone insulting someone else.

If something like strategus is implemented  there is a huge crowd even outside of this community looking for a game with meaningful progression that has more than a mindless grind, they want things such a sieges, player controlled houses, towns and cities with a economy. These combined with these awesome combat mechanics is GG with the right marketing.

Bannerlord will lack any kind of meaningful progression for online play if it's anything like the others. I owned warband for years and am prolly one of the few people who played the crpg mod before native after finding it by accident. After trying crpg I didn't even care to try native anymore because it was meaningless and had no progression, that's not to say the combat wouldn't have been fun but you need more than that to get ppl hooked.

I think if OKM is the standalone crpg with better everything then ppl won't have a problem letting crpg go, i dunno tho.

Games that are guaranteed to fail ( or already failed) or similar enough that OKM can pickup a large playerbase off of:

Shroud of the Avatar
Crowfall
Darkfall
Camelot Unchained
Bannerlol : people will play the single player and want something more when it comes to multiplayer
Mortal Online
Shadowbane
Life is Feudal
Reign of Kings
