Title: WSE2 Beta and technical issues

We want to announce a few things, but first and foremost:

Tomorrow we will release the big WSE2 Beta (also known as client beta). This is something we have been testing and working on for a long time, and, with some delay, is finally ready for the public. So I'd like to invite everyone to test it out tomorrow. It's optional for now, you will be able to decide whether to use it or not in the cRPGLauncher.

As you have without doubt noticed, we had some technical issues lately. They were more "severe" than what we are used to, and also they have hit us from several sides. We had trouble with the webservers and the gameservers at the same time, and fixing this is of high priority, but it might still take some time. This is a shame, really, and users experiencing technical troubles hurts us the most, but we need a bit more time to fix it for real.

In general I want to say that we are working very, very hard on some very cool stuff for all of you. I can absolute assure you that you will appreciate the work, and this will increase player numbers again, but we need a bit more time. Also, the stuff we are working on can't be released half-finished, which is the reason why there weren't many updates lately. So please bear with us, we're doing our best, but our working time is limited, we're all working as fast and hard as possible.

By the way, XP will be doubled tomorrow after the patch is released, to test the patch and the servers.

Because of the technical issues the last days, I haven't been able to use the beta client. I noticed then a significant drop in my performance. I am strongly suggest anyone having performance issues to use the beta launcher. It really helps (at least for me).

I'm also happy that more people will now be able to use the beta features. Let's all start walking instead of running to celebrate this!

Thank you cmp for such a great job. I really appreciate it.

Poeple with wooden pc's as beta testers already stated that it runs really well. This is a great victory judging the average pc in this community.

Does this mean you can finally move the firstperson view slightly backwards making it even more fun to play with a short 1h, playable with anything but a short 1h, and viable while still having somewhat of an overview over a larger battle?

Not sure with a zoom in/out in 1st person, but you can put the FOV on max and get good sidesight in 1st person. The sidesight really helps in melee combat if you use 1st person.

Btw, different FOV settings for 1st and 3rd person. Best of both worlds!

Amazing, always loved warband first person modes intensity, this will surely make it even more more fun to play than third person.

In old cRPG when there was no launcher, and even for a time when there was launcher, construction sites and things didn't give me any error script messages. Now EVERYTHING gives me script issues if I don't run on launcher, like joining a server. I can't use launcher with Steam, so I just run it without launcher. What is the reason for this?

Can my other very specific and extreme build please be buffed as well? I not only want to be original, but also most effective, please. And make it so that everyone else can't use the same build, so I am the only original and effective player on the server, at every time.

stupid question, but how do i download the new WSE beta thingy?

My launcher just starts crpg and I join a server, no update for me.  :|

Tick WSE2, short update, launcher directly starts crpg and you'll notice a difference.

You need the launcher version 0.82. Is it still 0.81 for you? Either try repair or download the launcher from page again. That should help. Maybe a simple warband restart helps as well.

wow, I didn't expect anything from this. The changes to the sound alone are incredible! most important imo.

Plus the Graphics and lots of options like changing Fov, I like it a lot so far. Ofc. it's a bit early to tell and apparently some people have problems with it, but great work!

So far I see no changed in gameplay. Only thing that is different is some video/graphics options. And as far as that goes I really dont see a difference from that from the normal max settings.

So you had max graphics before and you have max graphics now?

What the new WSE did was make people (like me) who had to play on lowest graphics, now being able to go medium+. Great improvement for us.

I don't know how you guys made the animations smoother but, uh, thanks.  Often-choppy attack animations have been one of the banes of my existence since I started.  The weapon trails really help too.  Also, I'm running at the same FPS with more stuff turned on...are you guys wizards?

Pretty amazing. I am now playing with everything on the highest setting except the water reflections (and fxaa by preference) at 60 locked fps. It looks amazing, and with the right texture and sound mods it's pretty damn surreal. Plus weed. Lots and lots of weed.

Did a little fps test today on eu3. WSE gave me around 40+ more fps than the normal cRPG, great work!

Yeah, I used to run everything on medium to low with AA and AF both off just to make sure I didn't have any framerate drops.  I always kept HDR off because it was way too overdone.

Now I've got everything on high, AA and AF both on, and I sit at a steady 80 fps.  I can even turn HDR on low because it's not nearly so drastic anymore.

This stuff, plus the text size and log changes make the game so much more attractive.

just found out that in the options menu my max fps was set at 50 or so,  i put it up to hundred and now it seems to work

The update resets mouse sensitivity to default btw, just search in the My Documents config file for sensitivity and copy it over

I can't really tell much difference with the new client except for some nice new things to tweak in the options.

It feels a bit glitchy, like the way attacks combo together and some hits not registering, or turning 360 degrees in an instant (like the turn nerf is negated momentarily occasionally). I get strange sound inconsistencies with some sounds, some too high pitched, some too low

Oh and if we have to use EU4, please make it daytime sometimes, its annoying to play always at night

Well, I've tangled a bit with WSE 2 since I installed it, and I gotta say, it does not run smooth at all. Animations sometimes get stuck along the way, vectors are fucked up, and the terrain keeps warping whenever I move.

Any ideas guys?

Well, I had something similar to what you described, try to switch off "Reduce Framerate Limit Input Lag", maybe adjust other settings. Can't say for sure that will help at all since I totally have no clue what does that option even do  :lol:
Also check your FPS cap, just mess with all the new options xd you might figure out what settings will suit you best. I know it's not really helpfull but I hope you'll find a solution.

i had no problems last night with it. the only thing i notices is that 3rd person with 100% fov the game seems very very fast and tracking weapon swings is harder (probably due to me not being used to the different view :D )

lol I wasnt trying to shit stomp anyone who had worse graphics cards then me. Was just saying that I really don't see a difference and in fact I see that it gets more "choppy" is the best way to describe it for me when I have the WSE on. The animations and swings and everything just seems really buggy and laggy now. Its not that I cant run it either becuase I get 100+ frames no problem. And if it is supposed to optimize graphics and visuals and blah blah blah, shouldnt it be getting less of the choppy-ness? And I honestly think that the new WSE on max looks worse then the old one. Just a few stupid improvements with glares and things that are shiny, which I dont give a shit about.

I'm still not sure on what setting I'll stick to play. But don't underestimate the human brain, it will fix it for you. If you'd run around with fisheye lenses a couple of days it would adapt and you would think it looks normal after a while.

Possibly less lag now, my character seems to respond faster to my mouse clicks to block or attack, but there may still be an occasional "phantom" hit where my sword seems to go through an enemy with no effect. There is also for me a recurrence of the Chinese armour bug where an infinitely long spike sometimes comes out of the side out of one of the heavier Eastern armours - not sure which one.

To use fraps with Fxaa, you must check "include frame rate overlay on screenshot" in the screenshots tab.
And yes, it also works for videos.

This is the same method as for film the steam overlay, Fxaa works in the same way.
