Title: Moderate FPS drop
Post by: Elindor on July 25, 2012, 05:16:28 am
Kept my settings the same as I do in the regular crpg launcher, and was experiencing around a 20 or 30 FPS drop.  Usually run right at 120 fps (the max I use) with occational dips to around 110.

- With beta client I was often at around 100 and sometimes down to 70 or 80.

Of course, not a huge deal - but thought I'd mention it since you said to report drops of around 20 or more.

Setting I used (in both regular and beta client) are:

Fullscreen
1680x1050
Texture and Shader at High
No AA or AF
Shadows Medium
HDR off
Particle systems off (in this case, sometimes I use it)

video card is nVideo GTX260

include crpg_beta_log.txt (in the Warband directory) and crpg_beta_config.ini (in My Documents, under Mount&Blade Warband)

They work.
In the config you have provided HDR is set to low (not off), can you double check ingame?

Yeah it was on LOW in game options too, but I had messed with some things here and there to test different results in game so I must have just left that on when I sent the report.  90% sure that was OFF while playing.

Sorry for confusion.

EDIT - tested again in game with HDR OFF for sure this time - same result

On what map?

This occours for me also on map Tropical while looking at the castle in the middle (85 FPS). I have worse than normal performance, and 20FPS+ worse than other maps while using the beta version.

Am playing on max settings.

Andswaru, turn down reflections a bit (just as long as they're not on Full - that option is kinda broken, extremely performance intensive when there are several people playing).

Started the map in "hosted server" mode. two screenshots, 20fps difference. (after i toned down the reflections as per your request cmp)

Any difference if you try with FXAA and postprocessing off?

Yes, I actually get a better 10fps more than in crpg (140fps instead of 130)

Great, so that is solved (didn't think postprocessing was that heavy, but oh well). Still doesn't explain Elindor's difference though, he doesn't have it on.

Reproduced Andswaru situation and had no loss of FPS, FXAA high, post processing on, etc. max settings.

Try removing the frame limiter or raising it to some absurdly high value, you'll see there is a difference. Doesn't really matter though, as those are new settings.

Tried raising the limit to 500, it actually gets more fps looking at the castle, than at the water part without any reflections, but around 300 nonetheless.

I was testing on NA2 yesterday and it felt sluggish at times for me too. I'll have a look and see what could be causing it.

Yeah im on EU2 right now with similar server load same settings roughly and FPS is sitting around 118 or so.

So could be NA2?

I'm playing on default setting (haven't changed them) and my fps goes from 100 to 35-40 at times. I think this has something to do with looking at river. Fps drops aren't that common and I can barely feel them.

With standard launcher I'm playing on lowest possible setting in DX9 mode, and my fps is usually around 60 most of the time and game feels sluggish.

With this beta launcher I'm able to keep browser open, play in windowed mode at higher settings and with rare fps drops. Game feels a lot faster, like I'm flying but that probably has something to do with increased FOV I have set (max FOV).

For me these occasional fps drops are quite normal, considering graphical settings and my old machine with only 2 GB RAM.

Disable water reflections, or set it to "Sky" like it was before.

On NA 3 on the huge strat battle yesterday, most of the times due to all the constuction stuff and stairs, it went down till 40 fps on the major clusters, but then again, strat is strat.

It wasn't due to construction stuff, actually.

It's a problem with items, we'll have to fix those.
