Title: Mods compatible with cRPG (updated 05-07-14)
Post by: Tot. on June 23, 2012, 03:08:35 pm
Previous thread hasn't been updated since the beginning of time so here's a new compilation. I reuploaded most of these mods so there shouldn't be any problems with download. Everything was actually tested and confirmed as working by me.

Will be continued once I have some time to look for few other mods I know of that have been sort of forgotten. Stay tuned.

SOUND MODS:

More Metal Sounds

This makes sounds, well, more metal, brutal and meatish. A must-have in my opinion. Youtube example (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-25ESVKWok)

Download (http://www.mediafire.com/?a64dph09v1duvfe)
Important Use the latest sounds.txt file from this thread (http://forum.c-rpg.net/index.php/topic,306.0.html), it works with new cRPG versions. (if the sounds text file you downloaded from that thread is named anything else but "sounds.txt." - for example if it's sounds(2).txt - you must first rename it to exactly "sounds.txt".)

Backup "sounds.txt" in modules/cRPG. Copy "Sounds" and sounds.txt  to your modules/cRPG. Overwrite.

Screaming woman fix (http://www.mediafire.com/?dvnpnh85sqsvchc). Paste this to Warband/Sounds.

Sounds of Suffer

This is an upgrade-mod for More Metal Sounds, it makes people die in more audible agony, cracking skulls and screams of unlucky guys who got their limbs severed are way better. Very tasty. Okay, I need help.

Download (http://www.mediafire.com/?b2j9driyyb742lc)

Copy to cRPG/Sounds, overwrite.

Heavy Hooves (for native sounds, not for More Metal)
Horses are louder and more hearable. A must-have for any archer twat.

Download (http://www.mediafire.com/?4bs70uhob769gk3)

Backup Warband/Sounds (it's in your main folder, not Modules/... etc.). Copy these sounds, overwrite.

Louder Horses (for More Metal Sounds)
Pretty much same as above but compatible with MMS.

Thread (http://forum.c-rpg.net/index.php/topic,34310.msg517366.html#msg517366)
Download (http://www.mediafire.com/?3dwwbaz1kou0ruo)

Backup Modules/cRPG/Sounds. Copy and overwrite.

Archery sound mod (by Kulin_ban (http://forum.meleegaming.com/general-discussion/small-archery-sound-mod/))

Version (http://www.mediafire.com/?vb6h0aypkh9vfks) for native sounds
Installation: Download and extract to Mount&Blade Warband\Sounds

Version (http://www.mediafire.com/?417ath5c4d9q1zc) for More Metal sounds
Installation: Download and extract to Mount&Blade Warband\Modules\cRPG\Sounds

VISUAL MODS:

Realistic Colors
Your Warband doesn't look like disney anymore with this. Replaces bright and shiny textures with more grimdark and gritty looking ones. You can add taller grass with this aswell. A must have for DX9 users.

Native crosshair here (http://www.mediafire.com/?ntu53r5dn5lbyoq), if for some weird reason you'd like that hideous thing back.

Old arrow/bolt flying model

For me, and for a whole lot of people, new "realistic" arrows are rather impossible to track in flight. Therefore here's how you can bring back the old, "blurred" and much larger version of flying projectiles.

As for now, you can just use this made by me itemkinds1 (http://www.mediafire.com/view/?vv5cj1ndsfi85yk) file which does the trick (though when cRPG updates it might replace it or it become incompatible)  (updated 18-11-12)

What to do with this:
1. Backup itemkinds1.txt, it's in Modules/cRPG
2. Copy the downloaded file there and overwrite.

Now, the manual method (when above becomes outdated) looks like this:

If you use modified particle_system.txt, you have to do this by hand. If not and you feel lazy, I uploaded one version here -> http://www.mediafire.com/view/v3mlci3l280bddb (http://www.mediafire.com/view/v3mlci3l280bddb). It's using the 5th tweak (open artery++).

I don't know, but it works by just overwriting the file. Maybe you won't see Rageball's new particles (I just don't know), but for battle it works.

Update:

New version of Louder Horses, got rid of enhanced charge bump sounds, they were unnecessary, and tweaked a bit the quality.
Better installation files for Blood Enhancement, thanks go to korppis.

If you reinstall Warband and clear the remains (aka remove the folder it was in after uninstalling it) there is no way the louder sounds are going to be there again. Out of curiosity, how much too loud would you say it is, ie. 30%?

Thanks for you help mate, and I had been playing with headphones (without speakers) so my opinion won't be accurate, but 20% louder would be better for me ^^

The Expanded Horizons mediafire download is missing the textures, it only has the CommonRes, installing just them will result in texture load error...

Your old projectile flying model does quite the opposite, the arrow disappears in the air. and reappears at the place it hits. They only disappear mid flight when you do it wrong.

Does anyone know how to get the horses hooves volume to go back to normal? I downloaded the "Heavier Hooves" mod from here thinking it was just a little bit louder but I was mistaken when it blew my headphones up! Have you tried the More Metal sound mod? Check the post above yours for a link and give it a shot, pretty sure it changes the horse sounds as well, maybe it'll be more to your liking. And if not I'll try and find the specific file and upload it.

I tried the more metal sounds awhile back I don't really like them. Call me crazy, but I prefer the native sounds. If you could find the file then that would be great.

Replacing crpg's actions file with the native one's don't solve the problem. I mean, yea it changes drawing animation but its nonsensical (character put his hands in the air while drawing:) )  I think i miss something.

Your post isn't really clear if you want to replace animations in cRPG with native ones or the opposite, so

Replace cRPG animations with Native:
(I might be remembering things wrong since it's been a long time since I've done that so let me know if something doesn't make sense or doesn't work)

You need to edit your cRPG actions file and replace cRPG bow animations lines with native ones.

1. Download a notepad application that doesn't suck ( notepad++ (http://notepad-plus-plus.org/) is fine)
2. Make backups of cRPG actions.txt. file (it's in Modules/cRPG) and native actions.txt (Modules/Native).
3. Open both of the originals.
4. In native actions.txt press Ctrl + F, type in 'ready_bow'.
5. It should find something like

ready_bow 1678770176 606081034  1
  1.500000 anim_human 2220 20530 569 28707 0.0 0.0 0.0 0.0
 release_bow 1678770176 572526602  1
  0.300000 anim_human 233530 20532 3 0 0.0 0.0 0.0 0.0

6. Copy those two lines to your clipboard.
7. Go to cRPG actions.txt, Ctrl F, find bow, replace same two lines with the previously copied ones from native file.
8. Save.

I'm not sure if this doesn't mess up timing and have no way to check it so be sure to make some tests.

Replace animations in Native with cRPG:

Look up this thread (http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php?topic=134185.0), instructions should be there.

The problem was "skeletons.brf",  missed piece of the puzzle, which i didnt know until now :)

Thanks again.

Gorgeous mods! Very appreciated.

I installed the cinematic compilation mod and it works perfect, the only problem is that several second after I enter any server my game just stop working, this only happened after I installed this mod and I do have a good PC that can run it. Any idea why is this happening? or how can I solve this problem?

metal sounds and suffering are AWESOME.

However, now when I ride a horse the hooves are super quiet (and loud horses sounds like shit).

More importantly, all my voice commands are switched around.  When someone says "defend the [f]lag!"  I hear "Defend the gate!".  When I type "QFF" for "Keep your [f]ormation"  I shout out "[R]etreat!"

Any tips for fixing this?

This should fix the voice command mix ups: http://forum.melee.org/suggestions-corner/more-metal-sounds-compatibility/msg741454/#msg741454 (http://forum.melee.org/suggestions-corner/more-metal-sounds-compatibility/msg741454/#msg741454)

For the quiet horses I recommend Heavy Hooves (http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php?topic=123680.0). Some of the sounds are nasty loud, but with a little bit of tweaking you can balance them nicely.

Are there any mods that just change the terrains texture? I actually like the way everything else looks, but the terrain could use a change.

It's fairly easy to manually replace ground textures with the ones from a mod of your choosing. You can hit me up with a pm if you need help with that.

I have a question for the powers that be in light of the discussion going on in 'General' right now.  Are the mods linked in this thread "OK"?  I've been using some of them like realistic colors, Stig's UI and Finalboss' heirloom pack for quite a while now and I just want to make sure the inquisition isn't going to show up on my doorstep.

Well, the way I see it, there is nothing in this thread that is supposed to give anybody any unfair advantages. All of the listed mods are designed to "enhance" the game.

I personally use the Cinematic Compilation and screw the aforementioned inquisition, if they decide that it is cheating.

Where can I find crosshairs compatible with cRPG.  None of the crosshairs in the OP have links.  I tried Life's posted above.  No file to download (must have expired).  I found a post that Meow made for his.  It's the one I really wanted, but his link doesn't work as well.

Any tips or links to get Meow's (or any others good ones) is much appreciated!

If you are a fan of the Cinematic Compilation and stumbled upon the broken dropbox link like me after this new patch, get it here: http://www.jeuxvideopc.com/jeux/mount-blade-warband/mods/54624-cinematic-compilation (it's in French, hit télécharger and you will be good to go).

Instructions are here: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php?topic=143179.0
If you use modified particle_system.txt, you have to do this by hand. If not and you feel lazy, I uploaded one version here -> http://www.mediafire.com/view/v3mlci3l280bddb (http://www.mediafire.com/view/v3mlci3l280bddb). It's using the 5th tweak (open artery++).

anyone using any of the visual mods notice it being helpful or increase ability to see at night? In particular to make out enemy weapons & attacks?  The game is so washed out for me (pretty much max settings) but everything is so muted grayish color that its hard to see well at night.

I never had any trouble with night time even with vanilla warband graphics. Figured those problems are likely due to hardware configurations. Have you checked that your display (color management) is calibrated correctly?

Also, back in time there used to be huge difference in how ATI vs NVidia cards handled darkness. Radeons used to make things a lot darker for me... not sure if it has changed these days tho.
