I look forward to the kickstarter because hopefully then the devs will produce some videos and not random people on youtube.

I hope i'll be able to load up on rpg's and take out campers hiding in bushes and windows, was the thing that annoyed me the most in insurgency.

I really don't see what's so special about this game.

Yeah, it looks a bit too much like Insurgency or something. What does it offer that Arma 3 and/or Insurgency don't?

There are also a lot of traps for FPS games whose main marketing gimmick is "realism." Those games tend to actually become even more unrealistic (and less fun) than Call of Duty because they always assume that bad aiming and clumsy movement = realism.

That's just the thing that goes through my mind. Why this when I have Insurgency and Arma?

Well it looks way more fluid than Arma which is by nature  a very clunky system which has always made pvp and Multiplayer less enjoyable. On insurgency it looks like it's got more depth in gameplay and the inclusion of vehicles/deployables is a big plus.  I'm just happy to see a great modding team take their talent to the next level.

What do you mean by "more depth in gameplay"? "Deep" is such a cliche word nowadays, the amount of games with a "deep crafting system" for example is massive..

As in there is more to do, more options in gameplay, more versatility and replayability in the game itself. Insurgency suffered because so many classes were redundant and the game doesn't make the most of role variety.  It's a straight forward term in English I don't understand what is tripping you up.

Because it means absolutely nothing by itself? It's the same as "rich." "Rich world", "deep gameplay", marketing terminology that has nothing to do with reality.

So Squad has basebuilding and vehicles, is there anything other than that that's different from Insurgency?

It's an adjective Xant, it has a very clear meaning to me. Depth means there is lots to it, it's not simplistic or repetative,  there is complexity in the mechanics of the game.

The addition of vehicles and basebuilding is good to me, those are both fairly significant gameplay additions which add replayability and variety in experience.  This discussion is pointless as we havent had hands on experience, from what they have announced on Kickstarter and their website it looks promising though.

If it is indeed the project reality team then I'll be interested, their mods were always great on the BF games, although sometimes a little too slow paced due to the 'reality' aspect.

Yes, it's an adjective that has no clear definition when it comes to gameplay, who defines what constitutes deep gameplay? Is Insurgency not deep? Certainly the devs would claim so, pretty sure all devs of all games would.

The most important thing for me will be how Squad handles moving while aiming and what the movement speeds will be like. I don't like Insurgency forced mega-slow walk.

People who try to compare to arma/insurgency haven't played PR mod bf2.

The reason why this kickstarter got funded so quick is cause the mod is that good.

Your question is kinda like saying why play cRPG doesn't age of chivalry do the exact same thing?

But anyway arma is not built for pvp, altho there a pvp mods its never the same. Insurgency is build for pvp and actually has quite similar gunplay to PR but its also simular to counterstrike.

In insurgency theres no vechicles, the maps are tiny, indestructible, static, the rounds and short and meaningless. its a fun game but very casual despite the "hardcore" gun damage.

In PR rounds last hours, teams build up bases, it can actually be realistically boring - but that just makes it feel all the more realistic when you do spot an enemy and you don't know whether its a civilian or a jihady pointing an RPG at you precious APC which you literally need to not blow up to win the round you just been playing for last hour!

Adrenaline makes game feel more realistic than polygon count.
