glad you guys arent under remnant or either fcc vassalage anymore ! thanks elindor for bringing good man in strategus ! gonna be a lot of fun with you on your own this strat!

It is true that we are generally seeking to approach Strat on our own this time around - although we are not opposed to mutually beneficial alliances.
Remnant and FCC were both good friends to us in Strat 4 at different times...but Strat 5 is a new Strat with new clans and absent of some old ones.

These are good points Panaru, but any change for the better is good - even if it's not perfect.  Of course level matters, but it shouldn't matter more than how someone is performing at the moment.

What I'm hoping we can do away with are the obvious and gratuitous imbalances of teams that result in just absolute steamrolls....and you look at the scoreboard and go "wtf??? is the autobalancer just trolling us?"

I officially love Vanthor, Tydeus, San, and Jona (when he's not killing me with hiltslashing polearms) and all the rest of you in this thread.

This is *** HUGE *** (cannot stress enough) for cRPG and I think we're all frequenting this thread because we all realize that.

@Vanthor - For those of us not as code inclined - What can we do to help??
Do you need screenshots?  What are you looking for?  Do you need testers eventually?  Im sure anyone in this thread would love to help this come to fruition if it helps the balancer system even a little bit.

Game Balance Discussion / Re: Pole Arm stab

The main problem with the pole thrust, is that unlike the others, 100% of the part of the animation that has the character pulling back his arms, getting ready for the thrust, falls in the ready animation. Meaning right after you release your left mouse button, the character begins bringing his arms forward. Why's this matter? It adds ambiguity. It makes it hard for both the user and the opponent, to figure out where exactly the sweetspots are located. Unfortunately, fixing this is actually a fair bit of work, so my previous edit to the animation was simply slowing down when, and how fast, the character would push his arms forward.

I'll be adjusting the hoplite animation, as it really doesn't fit the sweetspots at all. When I do this, I'll probably try to readjust the polearm animation appropriately as well.

.....fascinating....maybe I'm not crazy afterall.

Kamirane this should be in the Strat section, it will get more attention from strat players there....

It is a great guide. I overlooked control-e because it was not put in the controls section I was staring at the controls for a while. Maybe control-e should be put in bold print so people can find it easier. I am still worried about this map not being the same one I remember the one I made in the terrain code generator looking much flatter.

I wish I had someone to talk to to ask these questions in voice.   -_- I just want to start and not be a damn amature.
