I am glad somebody noticed.

People have noticed...but the popular sentiment is that there is nothing wrong, and the common redirect of course is still... "2h OP!"

and 2h'ers are like this guy...

However, Tydeus has recently posted that a) pole overhead was made faster by accident and is significantly faster than other classes, b) pole thrust due to its animation is somewhat misleading to the eye.

Polearms are out of control, between the in game speeds and  overhead nonsense, also the inside swings taking full damage. Its nauseating

I'm a little confused by all the recent pole slobbing:

-One of the few major advantages 2H had over pole before this patch was easier hitlslashing, but now it seems like the smaller sideswing sweetspots have seriously cut down on hiltslashing
-The insta-stab nature of pole thrust is at least as big of a threat as the reach of 2h thrust in typical battle situations, especially on 2d polearms
-Now pole has a superior overhead vs. 2h
-One of the most popular 4d poles (Bec) just got a speed buff, while it was mostly unpopular 2Hs that got their speed buffed.
-Almost every pole rears horses now

I take back every bad thing I ever said about Longsword crutchers; they are now a minimal threat compared to all the awlpike/bec users that run around 1-2 shotting everyone.

Careful Phew, people who talk bad about poles end up with broken knees round this part....
2h is OP and don't you forget it!

Longsword is a very "all around" weapon as it has pretty high speed, ok reach, and pretty good damage...kinda is good at all things but doesn't excel at any.
For this reason it is a nice 2h on siege because longer 2h get stuck more often in tight spaces. In battle it is often too short and I will often take a german greatsword in that occasion. 

Longsword is funny though because at 106 length it's barely longer than some 1h.  I would almost propose it going to 108 length and reducing it's speed by 1 (or damage or something) in return.

Phantom this is great...I feel bad you had to make this since it should just be listed in game when people click on a holding (but then again the interface of strat is shitastically incomplete, so im not surprised its not in there)

I'm trying to get approval to save average score per round, per character, on the website

I think a lot of people would actually be interested to know their own stats on this...
Can be more representative than KDR anyhow.

I'd go as far as to say we should all be able to see our own:
- Battle KDR/Average Score per round
- Siege KDR/Average Score per round

I actually overbuffed the polearm overswing animation when I changed it several months ago. Instead of the polearm overhead hitting slower, it now hits faster than the two-handed overhead animation, and by quite a fair bit, actually.

Tydeus...why you do dis :(

So pole overheads connect faster and (as you recently also disclosed, if i understood it correctly) the nature of the stab animation actually makes the release segment of the pole thrust animation quicker than other classes.

For me (and probably many) a better balancer is not something we desire because we want more gold/exp, but because we want more balanced combat scenarios.  When you are against overwhelming odds (through clan stacks and skill balance of players on each team) it really can stop being fun at some point for most players.

But yes, the gold/exp reward system also needs tweaked to be based off not just winning/losing rounds (and valor) but to also take into account personal performance, etc.

Also Valor needs to be calculated per team (think it's already like this in battle but not siege, of course, what else is new)

Interesting Vanthor, I'm glad that Archerwith300ping is no longer scoring higher than TryHardCarriesALot to the balancer....that is definitely an improvement!

- What's everyone think about this?
- Are there other things you'd like to tweak Vanthor or is this all you think needs done?
- What is the next step from here (San, Tydeus?)

Awesome stuff....
If this can make the balancer better Vanthor deserves a loom...just saying.  :mrgreen:
