Realism Discussion / Re: Rain should slow down ALL projectiles
« on: November 23, 2013, 05:37:09 pm »
Let's pick out this part
Quote
Rain should effect all classes equally

You can't take half a sentence as a point to evaluate. (Or at least you shouldn't if you want your argument/opinion to have any weight behind it)

And I said throwing is a form of the ranged class, so there you go.

Throwing can be classed as a ranged form of attack, but unless you combine their WPF's archery, xbow and throwing remain different classes. So ranged is not a class in this respect. Therefore when I say all classes or non, I mean 1h, 2h, pole, archery, xbow, throwing not melee vs ranged.

All the mockery didn't address why "the strings are affected and it has to be that way cause realism" in the first place.

The mockery was directed at your idea/opinion -

Pretty sure the glove wetness makes it lose its elastic frictional grip and the object is not firmly in grasp and does not receive full power.

Not the realism behind how rain affects the string on a bow. So it was never intended to address that issue.

As far as I can tell throwing is just another form of ranged and can be even more accurate. I've been hit consistently by javs from 50m away.

Have you even played as different classes?

I really advise you and anyone else that wants to make a post about game balance to play all classes that are involved and under the situations you have included.

Go and play as melee, throwing, archery and Xbow both in sunny blue sky condition and in rain/fog.... Not just for 5 min, play for a bunch of levels (I would say 1-28 in each class)

If we're counting the strings getting wet then why don't we count the gloves? Makes no sense.

Did you miss all the posts where people mocked how stupid this suggestion is?

infantry should be even slower going up a wet hill and increase armor weight because your underwear gets soaked.
Looks like melee needs random self-knockdown while moving when it rains & on snowy ground

Why don't you just include a 15% chance of melee dropping their weapons when its raining, their gloves get wet too.

Rain should effect all classes equally or no classes. This is not native where you can just change your class each life, if there is rain on a strat server, you're stuck with it.

looks fine according to me.

That's the build I picked if I am going to keep the 7 PT (still haven't decided tho) (slightly different wpf distribution also but only by a couple points).

At the end of the day I know it doesn't really matter, a few extra or less points in WPF doesn't make that much of a difference. However, it does make a mental difference and throwing already has the lowest accuracy. IMO it would be better to rebalance throwing with a bit less damage and a bit more accuracy rather than trying to continue changing the WPF formula.

I think the melee hybrid bonus was the best thing about the WPF change. It's a shame throwing was left out of the bonus but at least we got a PT requirement reduction to balance the loss in WPF.
It's now just a mental game of getting your head around lowering your throwing numeral WPF from before while keeping the same in game accuracy.

IMO throwing lances are balanced for a pure thrower.

However, for hybrids their requirement is too high for the WPF possible (unless you're level 36).

So unless you can find a way to lower their requirements for hybrids (which I think would be impossible or very easily abusable), I don't see anyway you can change their stats without unbalancing them.

Maybe some sort of system where for every 40 WPF (random number as an example) you put in melee, the WPP requirement per WPF drops by 1.
So if you had 120 in melee and 120 in throwing, instead of it costing 10 WPP to gain 1 more WPF in throwing, it cost 7 WPP.

Beginner's Help and Guides / Thrower Builds

Hey, I'm trying to decide on my new thrower build and I'm wondering what other people are using.

Build 1 is keeping to what I was aiming for pre-patch but with less WPF.
Build 2 is a better build, more WPF and more athletics. However it would mean I could no longer use throwing lances.

What do you think and what build are you using/think of going for?

No, someone will just spawn a +3 courser with 48 speed and 11 riding and run circles around the bots.

Bots are stupid and will just follow the horse all day until people pick them off 1 by 1.

It'll be hard to have any more updates.

Shame, he did great work and it's very much appreciated.

For anyone that does need the updated item list and can't update chys script themselves, I've uploaded a version with the new items. http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/183592

Thanks to Chy for making the script and thanks to Butan for getting someone to make it and sharing it with the community.

Can anyone post pics of them or link me to someone that has them? Most of the times I go play no one seems to wear them yet.

Where is the renown ladder?  I want to rub my 60 million on peoples faces.
Where is this renown ladder located?
What is this for?

http://c-rpg.net/index.php?page=ladderhero

Same location on c-rpg.net as the dueling ladder.
There is also a renown meter on your character info page (under dueling, to the left of strat reliability and performace.)
eg http://c-rpg.net/index.php?page=strategusbattlesarchive#!?page=charinfodetail&id=42368

Any chance of getting this updated with the new WPF formula ??

Code: [Select]
wpf_gained_per_WM_increase = 55 + 20 * new_WM_value
wpf_gained_per_AGI_increase = 14
sum formula: 15+55*WM+20*(WM*(WM+1)/2)+14*AGI
cost formula: floor(.0005*wpf^2+3)

lies! why would you patch before my strat battle :(

Maybe the enemy will forget to add their stats and you can have naked peasant rape

Also you got defending advantage so any fuck ups due to the servers being reset will be in your favour
