Suggestions Corner / Make upkeep cost scale with WPF
« on: March 26, 2011, 06:10:46 pm »
All credits for this go to IG_Saint, he came up with the idea in the xbow topic, I like it a lot and think it needs more attention.

So make upkeep cost scale with WPF for weapons. That would be pretty realistic, in that an inexperienced guy doesn't know how to take care of his weapon while a veteran can repair it more efficiently and it would solve the invasion of ranged hybrids without affecting dedicated builds in any way (maybe even slightly buffing them). Also it wouldn't be a nerf, you will be able to use your 1wpf xbow/throwing weapon with no penalty but the higher upkeep would prevent you from doing it all the time.

For everybody who appreciates organized gameplay over winning, there is going to be an event for YOU! I thought it would be awesome to recreate the "formations days" that worked during the beta stages of Warband where a group of geeks logged onto the server and were trying to make proper cavalry wedge formations only to charge organized square formations of pikemen on the other side - for nothing more than fun...

Now a bunch of peasants declared a new political system in their village - a representative democracy. The only thing that now needs to be done is to go in an unorganized mob to announce their landlord that they no longer feel to be obliged to pay the taxes...

EVENT 01 - Get ridden down by heavy cavalry!
For the start I thought it would be good to start with something simple - experience how does it feel to be ridden down as a peasant by an organized charge of heavy cavalry. The whole event should take only a few minutes (like 30-45 i guess). For participating in the event all you should do is to read this first post and than come to the server at appropriate time with appropriate gear and knowing what to do in order not to delay the others. Server for the event will be passworded, the password will appear here down at the thread a few hours before the event. You can also come to Fallen Teamspeak so we are better coordinated. If you won't know the password - go to have a look into this thread - this makes sure that you know what is the event about. You won't be admited into the event if you ask for password on the Teamspeak or anywhere else!!!

teamspeak
server= fallenbrigade.org
port = 9987
password= ginnungagap

There should be 2 groups in different teams
small group1 - heavy cavalry (15 guys)
big group2 - peasants (up to remaining capacity of the server)

if you want to act as a heavy cavalry in the event, please apply here in this thread (there are only 20 spots for this role). you should spawn with a heavy horse (destrier or above) and heavy armor. preferably for your innitial charge you should also use a great lance. for the whole charge you should keep your speed according to the one that leads the charge - i hope some mature player on a plated charger will apply for this role. right after the innitial organized clash you're free to slaughter the remaining peasants in a free way.

if you want to act as a peasant in the event just login into the server at appropriate time (or preferably a little bit before). you don't have to apply anywhere, just login. when you spawn, spawn with an appropriate peasant gear.

appropriate peasant gear
any shield up to lvl 1 requirements (or none)
any weapon that costs 300gp or less
any body armor that costs 3 gp
i suppose there will be more rounds for this event - make sure that you have a weapon that doesn't stop horses as in the innitial charges/battles the horses shouldn't be stopped. in later ones a few tridents can appear ^^

action
map will be set probably to battle mode
peasants will stick closely together in a mob around the leading peasant
after the initial clash the peasants are free to run away from the mob to save their lives

list of already registered heavy cavs

12 - Merc_Janis_Corp
13 - Shogunate_Ujin
14- Merc_Noctivagant
15- Templar_TomMyyY

password for the event: tournament

please feel free promote the event over crpg forums/servers, especially if you registered as a heavy cavalry so there are enough peasants to slaughter :o)
if you want to record the event, your presence will be of course more than appreciated! for a round you even can take a role of leading peasant (don't forget to bring a torch for this)

Game Balance Discussion / Nerf polearm stun
« on: January 26, 2011, 06:22:10 pm »
It's getting ridiculous, almost every single polearm has stun, if you get hit once unless you manage to block twice in a row you can't hit back. And it's not a matter of weapon weight as it should be, weapons like War Spear (1.5 weight), Iron Staff (2 weight), Long Hafted Knobbed Mace (2.8 weight) stun at every single swing. Combined with their 95 speed, if you get hit once in most cases you're dead, unless you're a 1H+Shield.

In order to fix this, either make stun dependent on weapon weight (no weapon lighter than 5 weight should ever stun), either add the stun effect that polearms have to 2H to make it balanced at least, or remove stun entirely.

In b4 polearm players say the stun is their way to fight 2H - show me the 2H weapons that have 95 speed, 130+ range and stun on every single hit :rolleyes:

Events & Tournaments / Naked Mike Day
« on: January 26, 2011, 02:44:23 pm »
I think it's time to bring back Naked Mike, now with the upkeep it will be more popular than ever. So only melee weapons, no armor/ranged/horses. Every Wednesday evening, if I remember correctly.

Suggestions Corner / Ironflesh needs to be changed
« on: January 17, 2011, 10:17:15 pm »
In it's current form Ironflesh is utterly useless, you gain way more advantages by converting the extra skillpoints or putting them in a secondary skill, like power throw. This has already been discussed in this topic but I doubt the devs read the general discussion section considering the massive ammount of spam/whining threads over there.

From my perspective there are 2 ways Ironflesh can be fixed: either increase it's HP bonus, I think +3 HP/IF point would be a fair amount, either make it increase armor instead of HP (it's called IRONflesh after all), +1 armor/IF point would be fair. Ironflesh was somewhat useful for plate-wearers pre-patch, with all the damage reduction but now nobody wears plate anymore so a change is in order.

General Discussion / Stats reset after new changes
« on: January 11, 2011, 10:53:55 am »
Considering the many weapon changes brought by the 0.210 patch and the upcoming heirloom reset (http://forum.c-rpg.net/index.php/topic,738.0.html) I think we should get another stat reset, or at least a WPF points reset.

I'm sure a lot of people wanted to respec after the first stat reset but they didn't as they were bound by their heirlooms. If we'll only get 1/3 of our heirlooms it would be fair to be able to heirloom a weapon of choice instead of being forced by your build to heirloom the same weapon as before, but with a lower modifier.
